I went for a jewelry change which is a $15 service. I bought a $220 earring (!!!) to replace my piercing. Everyone was very sweet and helpful. However, I was talking to the woman as I was checking out and she showed me the tip options which started at $47!! I changed it to a bit lower as I thought that was outrageous for a 5 minute $15 service. Only later did I realize they set their tip suggestions on the jewelry price. Please do not go here. Although the staff seem kind and personable on the surface, the quality of their piercings are not the best. They charge obscene prices for services that do not always turn out as expected, and if you have an issue with the quality of the outcome you are met with condescension and no valid resolution. I payed almost $150 for a piercing that was done at a near 45 degree angle and the best they could offer me was a $45 gift card that wouldn't even pay for a nose ring at their shop. Not to mention when we disagreed on placement, I was met with a silly comment about my anatomy that was quite frankly disrespectful. I've spent over $1200 at this establishment, but after my latest experience I will definitely not be going back and I suggest you all save yourself the trouble and book your piercings somewhere else. read more

I was a little startled as a 5"2 tiny human to see a very tall man with face tattoos and gauges appear.. I thought, can this guy do delicate and feminine? Well, my naive perception was put in its place when this sweet compassionate person gave me art that was not only delicate and colorful but EXACTLY what I had envisioned myself. The entire staff was so supportive and tried to distract me after hour three as the pain became a little too much with candy and verbal encouragement. Call it fashion, call it boredom, call it a midlife crisis, call it a cry for help: 20 years after I took out my original pair, I decided it was time to get my ears re-pierced. Looking on Yelp, Robot Piercing + Tattoo not only had very solid reviews but also was less than 2 blocks from my house. And the cherry on top? I was able to make a same-day appointment! It was an easy choice to select Robot for my piercing. Once I arrived the store was locked and I had to be let in by my piercer, Jo Case, who is also the owner. She immediately took my temperature and had me sanitize my hands, and you could tell they take COVID seriously. Obviously that's in everybody's best interest. She was ready for me and had out of the display case all of the studs I could select from for my initial jewelry. It was a smallish collection, but from the way she talked about it you could tell that she gave consideration to what she carried. I ended up selecting onyx studs in a scalloped setting, and we were off to the back room to be pierced. Her bedside manner was great. I wasn't nervous at all going into it (I've had a lot of tattoo work done and have my nips pierced, so this seemed like a walk in the park) but you can tell that she'd be great working with more anxious clients. She was thorough about what she was doing and what I could expect and how to handle aftercare. From walking in to walking out, the whole thing was done in like 15 minutes. Really, I couldn't expect a better experience. When all was said and done, it cost me about $160 (after 20% tip) which was more than I had expected. But again... the last time I did this was in the early 00s and I'm sure it was a less quality job. It's definitely worth the price considering the level of service and quality of jewelry. I don't see myself getting more piercings any time soon (less is more, at least for me), but I'll come here for jewelry and I'll gladly recommend this shop to others. read more

To our surprise, we found the perfect artist! I showed the artist, Renee, what I was wanting and she immediately began sketching an idea. It took some time to sketch out, but when she showed me the final product I immediately loved it. Renee was very professional and her workstation was clean and comfortable. She tattooed me first, and my wife second. Through my wife's tattoo she had to stop about halfway through and let her eat something because it had been awhile since my wife's last meal. Even though we were there a little past closing Renee didn't make us feel like an inconvenience or rush through either of our tattoos. Both of us absolutely love our tattoos, and they healed so beautifully. She was able to take our ideas and truly make them into a work of art. I had a great experience at Robot. One of my earlobe piercings closed up after I stopped wearing earrings during the pandemic. I'm a total baby when it comes to pain, so I was very nervous going in, but everyone immediately put me at ease. Tracy was incredibly gentle and kind. I was debating between giving Robot Piercing + Tattoo a 3 or a 4-star rating but ultimately decided to go with the 4 because of a few reasons. First, the service provided by the girl at the front (who explains the after care of piercings and takes your payment) was really friendly and welcoming. I just adored her! Second, the shop itself was clean, and the piercer made it clear that she was aware of health code regulations, which was comforting. Third, I'm writing this roughly two weeks after getting my forward helix pierced, and I'm very happy with the results. As far as I can tell, both my piercings are healing well, and I just think they're so cute! The reason why I was thinking of giving this rating a 3-star was because the piercer, a woman with dreads, tattoos, and piercings, came off as a bit pompous before she pierced me. Perhaps I'm a bit defensive, but I don't have tattoos or too many piercings, and it simply felt like she thought I was some silly girly girl or something. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ She made a comment about the location of my septum piercing, saying that if she were the piercer, she definitely wouldn't have placed it in the spot that it is currently. "If you're happy with it, though, I guess that's all that matters," is how the conversation ended. I'm not one for confrontation, so I didn't say anything at the time, but I didn't think it was the most friendly thing to say to a customer. I will say, though, that she was comforting when I expressed pain or doubt, and she gave me some encouraging feedback (saying it looked cute) after it was all said and done. All of this was much appreciated! In the end, her professionalism and the way she took care of me while actually piercing me was the most important, and she succeeded at this, so I can safely say that I was pleased with the overall experience! I had gotten my lip pierced about 7 weeks ago and it all of a sudden started to get infected. I called and called and called Robot Piercing asking what to do and the response was to not take the piercing out because I still had a couple more weeks of it getting "healed" even though it had just started causing me problems. My lips turned so infected I had to go to the ER and get it surgically removed. The inside of my mouth had completely closed on my piercing. The surgeons were stunned that this company told me to keep my piercing in instead of immediately taking it out. It cost me 1500 in debt, if even. Go get a piercing elsewhere. If you feel like you have an infected piercing, despite what your piercer says, take it out IMMEDIATELY. read more

I got a helix piercing here. The woman who help me was pretty intense. She had strong opinions on which jewelry I could or could not get. I appreciate a professional offering guidance on the shape and size, but she was dismissive in a way that wasn't appreciated. I also asked to make sure my piercing wouldn't be tucked away under my ear fold. She told me it wouldn't. Sure enough, she tucked it under the fold. I left feeling frustrated that she didn't listen to what I asked for. read more

Couldn't even get passed booking at this shop. Tried to book three appointments for some friends and I per our yearly birthday tradition and went on the site to book consecutive appointments. All but one was declined. When my friend called to ask what went wrong they said one was during a lunch break at 4pm and had no reason for the other. So I called myself to get some guidance on booking from their site as it seems they don't have their appointments clearly marked. No one from the shop was that helpful. They first stayed there were no more slots for the day and I let them know there were over seven on the site. They said just book and try. I felt brushed off. Personally I don't have time for flakes especially when it comes to my time and safety of my body. Robot tattoo delivered the best tattoo experience of my life! I had my tattoo done with Austin Rose- who made the 6-7 hours we spent in session an absolute blast. Portland has a lot of different tattoo shops, but the quality of work that I had done stands head and shoulders above what I've gotten elsewhere. Best parts of getting a tattoo there? Hanging out with an electric personality who puts on movies for you to watch during your sessions. The time passes so much quicker when you're watching the Big Lebowski or Deadpool. I mean, isn't that what people do in their spare time anyway? Adding a piece of art to your body only makes the experience better. I can't recommend Austin or the rest of the shop enough.
