My household has recently become home to a mini aquaponics system. Well...truthfully, it has been…read morearound for a year or so, but within the last month, we have finally made an effort to actually get it functioning properly. I visited Moonlight Garden supply just for fun, and while the name does not specify hydroponics, that is definitely their specialty.
They are located right off State Street, and I did not check if there was parking behind, but we just nabbed a spot along the storefront. They are on a corner, so in the worst-case scenario, you will have to park along the street in the neighborhood. The store is not huge, but they have an impressive selection! There are a few displays, including a hydroponic set up with super happy peppers, and a neat aquaponics one with a variety of plants and goldfish.
They have goodies useful for standard gardeners too: Snake River Co-op seeds, various soils and amendments, plus an impressive and varied assortment of fertilizers and such. Every year I struggle to locate blood and bone meal at big box stores, but they had both here, along with more obscure stuff like bat guano and worm castings! They carry my favorite natural brand, Down to Earth, along with popular Happy Frog, and one entirely new to me, Raw, with some really interesting offerings I'd like to research.
Prices are super reasonable! So good, in fact, that we found it worthwhile to return some Hydroton clay pebbles previously purchased from Amazon.com, and buy a bag here, as it was double the size for about half the price.
Customer service was ideal. We were greeted and asked if we needed any assistance, then left free to wander without any pushiness. Check out was quick and friendly. I have made a mental note to stop by Moonlight next time I need any garden supplies, either indoor or out, as I can be assured they will have most anything I require.
