He casually and invitingly asks "Do you want a haircut?" I paused in my tracks.. thought to myself how I actually do need one.. and said "Sure, let's do it!" Now I had no previous knowledge of Razor MD or of George, so naturally I was a little nervous getting a haircut without checking what my fellow Yelpers had to say.. but his confidence really put me at ease. They are a family shop, his uncle and nephew also own the place. George commutes every day from Flushing so you have to commend that kind of dedication. Not only is he super skilled with a pair of scissors, razor, and buzzers, but he is both super efficient and very funny. He reminds of my grandpa's barber, who still cuts to this day over in Queens. Old school, charming, and laid back. We both talked about life, our backgrounds, relationships, you name it. To top it off, he even styled my hair better than I ever could! I had a work dinner to attend to later that evening and to be honest, I didn't even go home to shower as I didn't want to ruin it (plus there was no need as he did a great job cleaning any loose hairs up). I'm brand new to the area, having just moved to nearby Baldwin Harbor, so it feels good to have gotten so lucky, so fast. Thank you George for coming out of your store to invite in me. You weren't kidding, you are indeed amongst the best of the best barbers! While slightly steeper than what I'm used to, for $50 (included both beard trim, haircut, fade and line-up), I walked out feeling like a million.

There was a line but Johnny, who I believe is the owner was quick and friendly to his other patrons. I have a cranky 2 year old and a rambunctious 5 year old but he was able to give them quick, effective short cuts. Without even going into detail, he just asked them if I wanted it short and he went straight to work. $25/each for a kids cut for less than 30 minutes is not bad. Previous barbers are afraid to go very short which makes me need to go in every 2 weeks. He went exactly the amount I was looking for and we won't be back for another 3 weeks. At $15, I'm used to paying that price for 45 minutes of someone's time. I also gladly tip the rest of the $20 bill, which Chino was grateful for. The only setback would be for someone who doesn't speak Spanish. They joked a ton, and if you didn't understand what they were saying, you just might think they were arguing. Latinos just have this way of joking that can be misunderstood. Overall, I feel it's a great place for a regular haircut. I'll surely return for Chino again.
