I tend to view seeing a psychologist as a valuable part of my health routine, particularly when I'm needing to focus on finding balance. In other words, it's like a tuneup for my mind and soul. I've been going to Dr. Jennings for over 7 years now (on and off). He is an incredible thoughtful, smart, and empathetic doctor. He also happens to be a tenured professor of psychology at Valencia- something that adds to the sessions because he can pull from so many different thought leaders (current and past) and explain their theories in a very palatable way. The offices are in a two story building right by the Sunrail station in Altamonte Springs and consist of a few serene rooms which are occasionally used by other therapists. I appreciate that there is always soft music playing in the waiting area so that you can't hear anyone else's sessions. It was a friend of mine who first recommended Dr. Jennings and since then I've referred many others to his practice. In the end, the choice of a psychologist is a very personal one that can be influenced by any number of small factors, not least of which is how you personally "mesh" with the psychologist's style. Regardless though, you need someone who is qualified and understands his discipline. I happen to have found a great one and felt compelled to share the wealth!

What I found was not therapy -- it was a circus of control, shame, and manipulation dressed up as treatment. Choices is a relic from another era, running on outdated theories and authoritarian "techniques" that do more harm than good. Their idea of healing is to break people down, shame them, and call it progress. The staff, led by Beth, mistake intimidation for insight and obedience for growth. What's worse, Beth cultivates a loyal inner circle of former patients -- people who end up defending and perpetuating the same damaging environment they once suffered under. I recognize some of their names among the glowing reviews here. Those reviews aren't proof of success; they're proof of how effective her manipulation is. She uses dependency, guilt, and even financial leverage to keep people under her thumb. Over the years, there have been multiple complaints to the Florida licensing board -- and for good reason. Choices shouldn't be in business. Their practices are unethical, outdated, and emotionally abusive. If you're struggling with sex addiction or any personal issue, do not go to Choices Counseling Center. You deserve compassion, professionalism, and actual therapy -- not trauma disguised as help. Don't be fooled by the praise. That's part of the system.
