Ms. Sarah is the two year old class assistant and she is firm, but loving. She talked to my son about the weather and his feelings and he would come home saying the funniest stuff. She treated him like the little person he is, not just another kid. The lead teacher retired this year after 12 years and was replaced by the wonderful, enthusiastic Ms. Alba. Now that he's in the 3 year old classroom, the kids take turns as line leaders and calendar leaders, learning how to share responsibilities while also learning about the months of the year. They also work on their letters, colors, and numbers, of course. The school has a better handle on managing any rare instances of discipline problems than other schools I've experienced. My son has learned great ways to share; how to ask for a turn rather than just ripping something away from another child... and how to accept when it isn't his turn. He's always been tiny and was picked on at other schools, but just as he is learning how to use his words to deal with problems, so are the other children and I find that he doesn't get roughed up at this school. Some Facts: The school is non-denominational. They have the best playground in town. It is open all summer and works great for government workers who are headed downtown. Its holiday schedule matches up with the government's holiday schedule. No fall or spring break to scramble to find a babysitter for. I think the price is very reasonable. You can buy a really healthy lunch for an additional $2.50 per day. The menu changes, but they always have a fruit, a vegetable, a protein and a whole grain. Sorry such a long review ... but it's hard for me to let him go and grow up. The only relief is knowing that when I can't be with him, he is in a place that loves him, protects him and helps him grow.

When she starts kindergarten we know she's had a great foundation there. Highly recommend them. The staff is responsive to parent's input and really does try to work with each child as an individual. Dropping her off each morning was much easier on me as a mom knowing how much she loves it! They are also diligent in their security and have drills so every child & staff member knows what to do in the event of an emergency.

In terms of academics, I was able to take the best honors, AP, & dual-enrollment classes with the best teachers, who were incredibly dedicated -- even staying for hours after school, on weekends, and over the summers just to help their students be as prepared as possible for exams and competitions. The school offered a rich variety of extracurricular activities, and students had the opportunity to travel & compete nationwide on award-winning Science Olympiad, competition math, and robotics teams... just to name a few. My fellow students and I were genuinely curious, engaged, and passionate about the things we were learning and got lots of hands-on experience that we use to this day. The school also fosters a strong, close-knit community. I knew all of my teachers and administrators personally, and could tell they really cared about us as students & as the people we grew up to be. OSS introduced me to many peers that I now consider lifelong best friends. OSS's STEM-focused curriculum prepared me incredibly well for college. Since finishing high school, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from MIT, and am currently pursuing my Master's degree as well. Gym Force is a pillar of the Tallahassee community. Jim and Nikolai, the current owners, have…read moreallowed Special Olympics to have artistic and rhythmic gymnastics practices at this facility for many years free of charge. They have even provided some of their coaches to assist the S.O. coaches throughout the years. This gym offers classes in men's and women's artistic gymnastics- preschool and up- as well as silks and yoga classes. They have excellent competitive programs as well. This gym is well known for a men's team that trains gymnasts who compete in college as well as nationals. Jim and Nikolai are very professional yet two of the kindest people you will ever meet.
