I sat at the bar and got amazing service with some really good recommendations for wine. I chose the Dorado for my main, and the fish had so much flavor and tenderness. It all paired really well with the tomato sauce and rice. White fish can sometimes be plain, so I was really happy with how the chef prepared the dish. I finished it off with a vanilla creme brûlée that had the perfect creamy texture and a nice hard sugar shell. I'm normally not a dessert guy, but again, the young lady behind the bar recommended it and paired it with a port that really brought out the vanilla flavors. Quick note, the menu seemed to only be available in French and German. Fortunately my high school French came back after my first glass of wine. Overall a really enjoyable experience and I'd definitely recommend.

The salad was large with a simple dressing, tomato soup ok, arabian soup disappointing and pate disappointing as well. The arabian soup was bitter, with an uneven use of curry spices. The pate was bland with overwhelming use of peppercorns. For entrees we had the fish and pork dishes. The fish itself was good but there was very very little of the cream sauce (which it needed) and the vegetables and pasta were bland, without sauce or seasonings. The best part of the dinner were the saint-emilion wine and dessert. A fruit compote with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and berries. Still a lovely time with friends.

We booked a table for four at Auberege du Cheval Blanc through the Fork…read more We received numerous emails prior to our visit from The Fork, Michelin and from Auberege du Cheval prior to our visit. This included a request for a credit card which we responded to. We even received a confirmation email from the restaurant the day before our visit. When we arrived, we were told by a stern faced young lady that there is no reservation. We must be at the wrong restaurant. We then showed the confirmation email. We were then told we hadn't provided credit card information. We then showed the confirmation we had. We were then told there is no table available. As gracious as we were through this exchange and requesting to have them make some accommodations of any sort, the women at the desk never cracked a smile, never apologized for any mistakes even as we continued to show proof of our reservation for that date (December 17, 2023) and that seating. She continued with a self-righteous attitude in the face of documentation to the contrary. She then begrudgingly got the Chef's wife to come out. This time only with acknowledgement of their errors. Not once was an I'm sorry uttered or any apology or reparation made. No offer of attending a different day, no accommodation of any sort. I truly find it shocking that an establishment with such a lack of service or quality of management has earned a Michelin Star. A Michelin Star used to carry a level of service and professionalism as well as the quality of the food and dining experience. I am saddened that I feel I can no longer depend on a Michelin Guide rating.

Baden is a small former State of Germany. Southern Germany's culture is very different from the rest of Germany and might be compared with the culture of the southern states in the US. For me the very slowly speaking people with mostly agricultural background in Tennessee seem to be not very different from the people here in Baden. While Tennessee enjoys their ribs we would rather recommend at the Oberländer Weinstube roast saddle of venison with a taste of juniper and with blueberries. Of course the excellent service and the wine list meets all expectations which could be associated with a one star Michelin Restaurant in beautiful Baden's former capital Karlsruhe.
