These 2 were warm, friendly, kind and gracious to us. When you go make sure to ask for Ruth as your server. BRAVO and 1000 thank yous to the chef!' Our food was beyond delicious. It was our last day of vacation in Germany and our last meal. I have not had a bad meal this entire time and I am happy to say the streak did not end here!!! The schnitzel is massive and you can have 1, 2 or 3 pieces. Thankfully I had only had breakfast otherwise trying to eat 2 pieces would have been difficult. The potato salad was superb and the wild cranberry sauce was the best I have had all week. If I had been staying the night I would have gotten an extra as a side and taken it home. I will be thinking about that until I return to Germany. it is just THAT good. Treat yourself to some of the fresh homemade bread. The aroma is great (I could only imagine being in the kitchen as it bakes) while it is just sitting on your plate. It had a mix of cumin and anise. Gives a very interesting taste. Very nice outside seating. The only complaint was that I was so full that dessert was out of the question. If you do not enjoy a meal here while your are in Frankfurt then you missed out. Again thank you Ruth for excellent service!!!

Luckily, we got seated but was only able to order something from the main entree. So no appetizers or soups. I ordered the small Schnitzel with roasted potatoes. My wife got the sausage with cheese. That was actually pretty good. The cheese was light and creamy. My schnitzel was ok and would have been better if it came with a mushroom sauce or something. This experience would have been better if we were able to order other items from the menu like the asparagus soup.

Chacarero Steakhouse delivers the kind of meal that makes you stop mid‑bite and say, "Okay... this…read moreis really good." From the moment you walk in, the warm lighting and relaxed atmosphere set the tone for a great night out, and the staff keeps that energy going with attentive, genuinely friendly service. The star of the show is absolutely the steak. Perfectly seasoned, beautifully grilled, and served exactly at the temperature requested; it's the kind of quality you usually only find at high‑end steakhouses. The sides are just as impressive: fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The chimichurri deserves its own shout‑out; it's bright, bold, and elevates everything it touches. Drinks are well‑crafted, portions are generous without being over the top, and the pacing of the meal feels thoughtful rather than rushed. It's the kind of place that works equally well for a date night, a celebration, or just treating yourself to a seriously good dinner. If you're anywhere near Kaiserslautern and craving a great steakhouse experience, Chacarero is absolutely worth the visit. I'd come back in a heartbeat.

The bread and salsa appetizer was a nice touch (simple but fresh), and the Gouda empanadas? Melt-in-your-mouth good. I ordered the beef and loved that they cooked it exactly how I wanted -- juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The staff made the experience even better with thoughtful check-ins that felt friendly, not forced. Dessert sealed the deal: churros with dulce de leche ice cream and a shot of espresso. Sweet, warm, and just the energy boost I needed to end the night on a high note. Highly recommend if you're craving bold flavors and a little comfort. What dish would you go for first -- the empanadas or dessert?

Well, sadly, we showed up on the one day of the week the castle was closed. However, we were able to stop into the Burgschanke for a bite to eat which was a completely unexpected stop as this 'castle tavern' was not here the last time we visited! We were approached as soon as we entered and asked if we had a reservation. Oh, no. Turned out OK as they had two tables available at the moment. Yea! The staff speak English, the menu is in English so no worries if you don't speak German. We had a light lunch of beef broth with bone marrow balls and a side salad. They also have wursts and other German fare you would expect. But we don't have huge appetites so this lunch suited us very well. First the soup. A rich, dark beef broth. A little salty, and very flavorful. The bone marrow balls remind me of matzah balls. This was an all together satisfying starter. It came with a small loaf of bread. Soft on the inside, crusty on the outside. A very nice, warm accompaniment to the soup. Next, the salad. We had been in Germany over two weeks at this point and none of the meals we had up to this point really reminded us of those we remembered from when we lived in Germany. That's fine. Pallets change. Chefs like to experiment. It's all good. But this salad! This is the salad we remember. The mix of greens. The salad dressing. This folks is a German salad. I know you might not care, but I am so happy to have found that taste again. It was fresh and flavorful and exactly what we needed. A hotel is located a little ways down the hill from the castle. Some people parked there and walked up. We drove all the way up to the castle and found parking on site. You can also walk all the way up to the castle or ride your bike on one of the many trails crisscrossing the property. The ambiance here is chill, fun and very German. The staff are friendly, professional and easy going. Restrooms are down a hall at the back of the restaurant. Remember to call in a reservation! You should definitely stop by for a meal.
