Located close to the airport this diner atmosphere restaurant provided a good value fresh meal. The server was very gracious with my questions and requests. I ordered a small house salad with a scoop of tuna plus a bowl of minestrone. Some olive oil was provided upon request for the fresh bread. Salad was fresh, lettuce good quality. There seemed to be more locals than travelers dining here. Parking available out front. Looks like a refurbished older place. Basic but solid Italian joint menu. We had a massive group, and the staff handled it well. Good service under tough conditions, but we were basically the only people there. Son had a really good chicken parm, and my wife's cannelloni was good. But my seafood pasta dish lacked a bit. Seafood was not fresh and the sauce was broken and watery. They apparently used a can of baby clams in the sauce, which looked very unappealing. Well prices, though. Came here for lunch before my flight! I would describe the interior as diner-esque. Food did take a little bit of time to come out so we were there for about 1 hr and 15 mins but I had the time. I got a large chicken caesar salad with the dressing on the side which was huge and really good! I also split the fries which came out super crispy but needed salt added to it. Was in the area, dropping a friend off at the airport and I was really in the mood for pizza, so I checked the interwebs and found this place - the reviews were great so we stopped in. They actually have real Italian food made and served by real Italians! I say that because many places these days are owned/run by others who know how to make Italian cuisine, but most all the time, they don't do it very well. This place definitely knows how to do it very well!! I got a large "Roberto Special" pizza with jalapeño added. Also got a chicken marsala and a chicken parm... friend ate the marsala and loved it. We both absolutely loved the pizza! I tried the chicken parm later for dinner and it was really good! Nice size chicken breasts and a very tasty sauce. They even have a robot that helps the servers deliver food to the table, such a fun thing to watch! Highly recommend stopping in... I'll definitely be back when in the area! read more

Don't let the faded sign fool you. Roberto is updated and very nice inside. They even have a robotic cat to run the food, complete with music. Seriously, the thing was a riot and brought joy to the dining room and a sense of occasion to food delivery. The portions on every plate it brought by the table were huge. We had the calzone, and it was more than two men could eat. It was delicious, not overly greasy like some calzones can be. The vegetables inside also tasted incredibly fresh. Awesome! read more

I stopped by this place since it was nearby my hotel. It's a relaxed spot with plenty of Italian offerings. I ended up going with the pizza. The pizza was decent and got the job done. It's definitely not on the level of anything close to a New York style, but it satisfied all my hunger. I was also pleased with the house salad, which was fresh and filling. Overall, I'd give me a 3.5, with the extra bump for the friendly customer service. The next time I'm in town, I will consider revisiting to try some of the other Italian dishes. read more

Visited Richmond for a volleyball tournament weekend and we wanted some pizza & wings. I always check Yelp for reviews when in a new area and based on reviews this was the spot for some local good pizza! Spot on with the pizza. It was delicious and not too greasy at all! Ordered for pickup and walked in admiring all of the art on the wall. The owner said it was a customer and that his family also supports her beautiful art work at home. I would definitely come back again and try other things. Service was great, helped take the food to the car and the pizza was good. Wings were okay because we ordered hot wings and they weren't hot at all but still tastie. I would definitely try again because I think the restaurant is authentic and serves great pizza for not being located up north. Let me start off by saying that every time I post a review, I feel like that episode of South Park. I mean none of us are food critics. We just have an opinion on what we like. I'm staying at the hotel down the street and I was reading on yelp for local restaurants and this was like a half a mile away so I figured I'd give it a shot because I love Italian food . I saw on yelp where this restaurant offered delivery and that is not the case. I had to go pick the food up myself, which is no big deal. The restaurant is located in the parking lot of an old, rundown hotel. don't let that scare you. The restaurants are pretty cool little place it's got photos of famous gangsters and Italian mafia types inside. It's also got a cool little robot waiter that buzzes around the restaurant that actually scared the shit out of me LMAO. First off, I gave this a four star rating, that's only because yelp doesn't let me give it a 3 1/2 star rating. I made my order by phone while I was sitting out in my truck and I spoke to the owner owner directly who is genuinely very nice. I try to support small businesses in every area when it comes to the restaurant scene. I travel extensively for work and I eat out more than most people, seriously like 20 days a month. I ordered " The Tour of Italy" which is Baked Spaghetti, Lasagna, Manicotti and Chicken Parmigiana. I also ordered Linguine with White Clam. I requested extra garlic on everything. I don't think the cooks in the kitchen got the memo on the extra garlic, because there was none. I compare every Italian place to those that I eat at in Chicago or New Jersey. I know that's a high bar but it's what I like. I don't want to compare them to the Italian I ate when I lived in Europe I think that would be unfair. For the greater majority of people, this would be really good Italian, I mean it's not the Holy Grail by any sense of the imagination it's just good decent food. If you're a fan of the Olive Garden, then this is your place. It's pretty basic Italian food with no extreme taste or flavors. The prices are decent and the portions are very good sized. I was not disappointed. I was just not impressed. Hey, give the place a shot if you're in town you could eat at a lot worse places. Following the suggestion from one of my foodie groups I decided to check this spot out as I was slated to be on that side of town. Opted for the medium pizza with sausage, chicken Philly and a traditional steak philly. I sampled the original steak Philly and the pizza, I definitely go back for the subs as the meat tho not plentiful but was absolutely tasty, well seasoned and the bread and topping were so fresh 4/5 where the pizza was just ok to both of us, crust was meh, toppings to cheese was ok: 3/5. My brother is a big chicken Philly fan and he rated Roberto's a 4/5. Go get the either of the Philly's, you won't be disappointed! read more

You hand me a slip at lunchtime telling me I owe $74 (overpriced for 2 lunch portions of spaghetti, two side salads and two kid meals... $9 for a grilled cheese) then when you run my credit card you come back saying I owed you that additional fee because I didn't pay in cash. I wasn't made aware of this insane policy. It wouldn't have been that big of a difference if the pasta was cooked properly or the cheese was melted in the $9 piece of toasted bread or the meat sauce actually had meat in it. I'm going to have to give this place a second try and will update when I do. I have driven by here a lot but never stopped in because it is located in front of a nasty former Days Inn which even Days cut off from their vile system. But it was near where a family member was staying the night before an early flight out so we tried it. The interior is a little bland and sterile. Not much happening other than some blaring Italian-American music of the Sinatra/Martin/Como variety. A scattering of patrons on a Tuesday night. We were warmly greeted and seated quickly, and our drink orders were taken immediately. Menus are two sided plastic placemats. Some in our party did not realize that both sides had items listed. Orders of salads, baked pastas and pizza were placed. Salad looked very fresh, but the home-made house dressing gained no fans and was quickly subbed for ranch. The entrees were huge and good values for the money. No homemade pasta here. The tortellini were almost certainly of the frozen variety and tasted like any tortellini from the freezer aisle at Costco. Sauce was on the sweet side. It was covered in a mound of mozzarella and well-baked. Spaghetti and meatballs were massive and on point. Strong positive and the best items tried. Both pasta items came with nice baguette slices. The pizza was another matter. A meat lovers was ordered. The crust has no structure at all. If you think a Costco slice needs viagra, this slice is in full-on ED. It was all but impossible to eat in the hand with the toppings sliding off due to the flop. Toppings also had no real flavor. It's like they added texture but no taste. Weird. But the biggest issue was the faint taste of burnt or melted plastic that was in some bites. Not sure if something melted in the oven and the pie picked up the scent or something else, but two of us noticed it. Service was pleasant but refills were not quick and some were missed. The owner did come around to each table--and yes I should have said something--but I didn't. I think this place has some positives and some negatives and I'm not sure if what we experienced was normal or not, or what parts were and weren't normal. It warrants a repeat visit by us to figure it out. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. I was in town for a work meeting and decided to give it a try. I beat the church crowd in as I got there around 1155 am. When I left at 1235, it had really filled up. The parking is all around the building and it is right across from the Richmond Airport. I had a house salad and a Italian wrap with fries. The salad was good and the house dressing is an Italian dressing the guy said they made there... really good I thought. The wrap took a while to come out. It was good though. I should have asked for it to be heated... it would have been a LOT better that way. The fries were great! They look like the fries you make when you slice potatoes with the skin on them... Wasn't I pleasantly surprised. On the recommendation of my waiter I gave it a try. To start, the salad was fresh and solid. All good there.
