They kept directing us to the Barrington Club Park which is a few miles away. Anywho, once you find it, it is an awesome park. It has 140+ parking spaces and the area is huge. Perhaps its new, so thats why its awesome, but the grass was lush and green. They have soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball sand courts, a giant shelter to host BBQs, bocci ball courts, and nice clean bathrooms. Since the park is new, the trees were still somewhat small, so there wasn't a whole lot of shade besides the shelter they have there. The shelter can probably house at least 50 people easily with nice and clean tables. I'm writing this with a sunburnt forehead and upper shoulders. I usually don't get burnt but apparently I should have put on sunscreen. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for a park to relax and play around and/or to host a nice sized BBQ. BATHROOM REVIEW: The bathrooms are located right next to the shelter. Inside, you will see a couple of urinals and a nice sturdy stall. The inside of the bathroom was rather dim, but maybe its because it was so darn sunny outside. Anywho, they didn't have paper towels but a nice hand dryer. For now, there were no mosquitos and it was super clean. The stall looked very sturdy. Sit or squat? I'd sit after a long day of playing. Aint nobody got time to squat

It's right along the river and there's some great bike trails around. My kids had so much fun climbing on all of the equipment. There was lots of stuff for them to do. What a great spot!

But with AD coming back so soon, it felt timely and relevant given this a park dedicated to Veterans. I actually came here because I was driving by last week and I spotted a little mouse run across the pavement as I was stopped at the light. I realized the chances of my seeing the little dude here again were slim to none, but I had some spare moments in my afternoon and plus this place had no business photos (which kills me) so I took the opportunity to take a look around. I've driven past here hundreds of time and I've never seen anyone in this park ever, which is strange because it's a really nice park. Large clock tower that dings on the hour, dedicated memorial bricks, the sturdiest benches I've ever sat/laid on, a small area on the North and West side that's grassy, there's flowers, and memorials, inspirational quotes, and small pillars with the seals of the different branches of military. Just a really nice quiet place. i spent some time by the Marine one and gave a nod for my Grandpa and then gave a nod to not only one of my favorite Yelper's Ted C, but also Buster Bluth for his many accolades including marksmanship and sand racing. I'm excited to have 'discovered' this little gem, although it's not very far off from a rather busy intersection, it's nice to know that most of the time, I can probably go and pretend it's my own private park, made just for me and that mouse... when I find him.

The walking paths are very well kept and offer both a short version or a longer one. With a nature playground, pollinator garden, and nice walking trails. There was a paved trail available for those with strollers as well. We even looked up and saw a deer watching us from about 10ft away. While the one downside was no bathroom (it looks like the nature center is only open Friday and Saturday) and a few biting flies... it was worth it to stretch our legs in nature for a bit. We'll consider this place again when traveling through.

The park has pickle ball courts,basketball court,softball and baseball fields,a sand volleyball court plus a nice kids playground. It is also home to an established Purple Martin colony on Balong Island . Plenty of parking available as are public restrooms.

The reservoir was created for flood control and you are sure to see many varieties of water loving birds like ducks, geese, herons and egrets. Killdeer are almost always present in the fields. The park district maintains everything very well. There are a nice variety of mature trees and many native plant species. The park has many ball fields and hosts tournaments as well as a caboose, a kids playground, pickleball and basketball courts. It is in the middle of a residential area adjacent to the public library.

The playground and treehouse are a lot of fun for kids, and there is also and area with tennis courts. In the center of the 4 fields are restrooms and a concession stand. The staff was visible the entire time and kept the bathrooms pretty clean and restocked. The concession stands had decent offerings. Parking was a bit tough for so many people attending the event, but there was overflow parking by the Church. Additional park areas included some open space, a play area for kids and bbq/bench area. Overall, a great park facility. There should be more restrooms based on the amount of people the park can hold at one time.
