She didn't recommend PGT testing in my case, and instead transferred embryos on day 3 rather than day 5--choices that made all the difference. One embryo implanted, and it's the one that gave us this pregnancy. I know some reviews mention her being serious or not overly warm. But she's not here to hold your hand--she's here to help you succeed. She's not a miracle worker or a god. She applies her expertise and does what she believes gives you the best chance. Your body does the rest. I've seen some reviews criticizing her for telling patients to lose weight before proceeding. But honestly--what's wrong with that? Don't we want to be as healthy as possible for pregnancy? I personally lost 10 pounds in the months leading up to our transfer because I wanted to give my body the best chance. Dr. Ratcliffe doesn't sugarcoat things--but that's because she's focused on outcomes, not comfort. If you're looking for results over fluff, trust Dr. Ratcliffe. We're so grateful we did!

Something that we struggled with for a while due to age was infertility. We had actually seen several fertility specialists during this long journey, and have gone through 3 rounds of IVF (2 mini's and 1 conventional) as well as an IUI. Although they were all unfortunately unsuccessful, we discovered that not all fertility clinics and doctors are created equal. While we found that many doctors take a very traditional, rigid and cookie cutter approach to treatment. Focusing more on luck through repeated attempts, Dr. Aimee was much more focused and tailored in her regiment. We always felt informed during this process, and confident in Dr. Aimee's recommendations. And unlike other clinics, we were always able to get ahold of Dr. Aimee directly. Instead of communicating with a nurse who would then pass the message along to the doctor if they felt it needed escalation. Along these lines, we were always shocked at how quickly we were usually able to get a response from Dr. Aimee. Sometimes even late at night. We often joked that Dr. Aimee probably doesn't sleep. Our only complaints about going with Dr. Aimee revolved around a few issues: 1) The initial application process to get a consultation with Dr. Aimee was lengthy, difficult, and required a lot of chasing from my wife due to poor follow-up and communication from the office. The individual handling review and processing of new patient applications would often go awol for days on end after sending out limited communication. 2) Billing was oftentimes not very clear and created a need for us to meticulously examine our bills line by line to ensure accuracy. 3) Dr. Aimee does not accept any insurance so 100% of the costs will be out of pocket. In addition, her rates are substantially higher than other clinics. Although we were ultimately unsuccessful with IVF, we were eventually blessed with a miracle baby through natural birth. Despite this, we would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Aimee to anyone looking for fertility care.

I wish I could be happy to write this. at the time i met Dr Ratcliff My Husband and I had been…read moretrying for about a year with no success, so I started to worry of course and started looking for fertility doctors near me to get tested and ask questions. to start at that time i was 37, no kids, never had issues with pregnancy just had never gotten pregnant before. Upon arrival, the front office staff were kind. Dr Ratcliff came out and greeted us, but was very none enthusiastic, like we were bothering her. Im sure by my hello, she could tell i was terrified and uneasy about this whole situation. We sat in the back room with her in her office, I had read reviews that her "bedside" manner was not great, but i didnt expect what i got. she asked a bunch of health questions about my husband and myself which of course i expected. she then went into how babies are made, and explained issues with fertility.and why infertility happens. Which i did appreciate because i did learn some things. THEN WE TOOK A TURN. she told me and my husband, that "we would be irresponsible to continue to try and get pregnant" when i heard that i started to cry. No empathy at all. I asked her "what do you mean?" she doubled down and told us that we are too unhealthy and im old now and my baby would most likely have "lifelong" issues I wish i was kidding. I was shocked and terrified and completely overwhelmed. she said options could be IUI or IVF if that didnt work but she wouldn't do either of those for me because i needed to lose 90 pounds before my birthday (which mind you was in about 6 weeks). I said well if i lost that much weight i would be unhealthy but ok. Then she said because if i did it and you end up with a baby who is sick, you will sue me. so then it clicked to me that this wasnt about me or my husband and i trying to start a family, it was about her. She talked to us like we were children and not grown adults seeking advice and help. She told us which tests she wanted us to do and we could go from there. Sperm testing for my husband and she said she would order blood work for me. Then she said she's going to do the ultrasound to see how many follicles i have - saying at my "advanced age" i should have at least 18 but was snarky about it as if she thought there was no way i had enough. So we went into the ultrasound room and sure enough i had like 23. Its almost like she was shocked. We then went to leave, she provided us with the sperm testing information for my husband - and said my tests would be ordered and i would get an email when they were so i could go to the lab. NEVER GOT THE EMAIL - tests never got ordered My husband did the sperm test 3 days later. Dr Ratcliff called him with the results and told him he is about 100k more than what would be "normal" but instead of just giving him the good news she doubled down and said again on the phone. "I highly encourage you and your wife to not continue to try as it would be "irresponsible". He hung up on her. I knew after that appointment i would never go back. I would do anything to be a mom but i am not going to be belittled to make that happen. I met with an OB a few weeks later and told her of my experience and she was SHOCKED. But, without me even saying who the doctor was, she knew, she asked me "did that happened to be Dr Ratcliff over in santa rosa" - THATS BAD, when the OB knew. she said she had so many patients tell her similar stories. But, despite her awful interactions with us and terrible demeanor and advice. I am happy to say that i am 9 weeks pregnant with my first child and i am so excited. So, if you are trying and struggling, i would not go to her go anywhere else

After about four months of struggling with PPD, I made the decision to pursue permanent birth control a decision I now deeply regret. I was told by Dr. Cheruba Prabakarthat my tubes could not be tied and that they had to be removed. During the consultation, she asked if I wanted more children. At the time, while clearly struggling emotionally, I said no. She stated that since I was 39, it was a good age for this procedure if I did not want more children. I understand that the decision was 100% mine, however the state of mind I was in was not capable of making a life-changing, irreversible decision. I strongly believe that when working with women -- especially postpartum women -- it is a physician's responsibility to recognize warning signs of postpartum depression and emotional distress and to implement safeguards in their practice. What I needed at that time was help and support for my PPD, not a permanent procedure that altered my body forever. Instead, the process felt quick and not thorough. There was no screening for postpartum depression, no encouragement to wait, and no discussion about how temporary emotional states can affect long-term decisions. Now, three years later, I am 42 years old and desperately want another child. Time is running out. I am now facing IVF, with no guarantee that my insurance will cover it since this is considered a decision I made for myself. My eggs are older, the odds are lower, and the emotional and financial burden is overwhelming. I wish there had been more caution, more counseling, and more time given before moving forward. I also hope that by sharing this experience, changes can be made so that another woman in a vulnerable postpartum state is not placed in this position. I am beyond sad and angry about my situation, I wish i could of tide my tubes and maybe reversal would of been an option now there is nothing absolutely nothing i can do. and time is running out.

Initially, we also considered Spring Fertility Center in SF due to many recommendations, but after our first visit with Dr. Joy Brotherton, we felt confident that MFC was the right place for us. Dr. Brotherton treated us as individuals, not just another case or a number for their statistics. She took the time to explain everything about IUI and IVF, enabling us to make informed decisions. Because I was running out of time, we decided to pursue IVF. Throughout the process, the entire team was incredibly supportive. Linda at the front desk, the administrative coordinator Maria (who handled all the insurance matters), and the nurses--Isabel, Ginger, Lia, Jennifer (and others)--were all so sweet and caring. I have very difficult veins to work with, and Isabel was always patient and approached it with a great sense of humor. I only interacted with Dr. Uzelac a few times, but he was kind and extremely knowledgeable. Dr. Brotherton was exceptional--she always responded to my emails in less than 24 hours, and she was always open to hear my suggestions on the treatment, it felt like a two way conversation, this rare to find when dealing with doctors. And the clinic answered my calls promptly 95% of the time with immediate and helpful responses. In a long and stressful process like IVF, that level of communication is invaluable. After two egg retrievals, I am now living my miracle--pregnant with my first child. My only suggestion for improvement would be regarding Prya, the first insurance coordinator I interacted with. Unfortunately, she was rude and made me feel like I was a burden. However, after I brought this to the clinic's attention, they reassigned my case to Maria, who was wonderful and handled everything perfectly. Overall, I am so thankful we chose MFC. The entire staff made this journey special and will always hold a special place in our hearts.

I was clear from the start that I wasn't sure if I wanted to harvest eggs and create embryos. I never had the NEED that some women have when it comes to being a mom and I didn't want to go through this process if my chances for success aren't likely. I said I would like my doctor to be very up front and tell me if it looks like it will happen or not. Dr Fischer met with us multiple times before hand and was very informative, he gave me options that others didn't but most importantly he listened to my concerns and was honest in his opinions. Although my surgeon was able to get all the cancer out we were still going to proceed with the protocol for cancer patients. Since I was still apprehensive about having kids at all, on the morning I was supposed to start injections I made my final decision to not pursue IVF. The process isn't easy and since I'm still recovering from surgery I didn't see the value in doing this for the potential for 0-1 embryo. It isn't important enough for me to do IVF and try for nothing. If I would end up with 2 or 3 embryos I would have done it but not for less. Again he was very supportive and said if I wanted to try later I can since I won't be doing chemo and in a year my fertility won't drastically change. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend this team and if I decided to try I would use them.
