I also want to thank everybody who answered the phone and worked at the desks in the reception area at check-in and for scheduling. There are so many that I rather not State individual names at this time because I don't wanna fear leaving somebody out unintentionally but I certainly want to give kudos to Oscar and Edgar who I almost always checked in with as I was checking out actually because they would schedule my following appointments at checkout. Everybody you meet there will be so kind to you and of course you will show them respect!! i've been discharged because I've progressed well, but I will be going back early winter for more advanced therapy as my osteoporosis starts to reverse after my injection plan which starts within weeks. I look forward to seeing them again. Thank you, thank you thank you and I highly recommend the world renowned HSS, Manhattan. I'm sure all the other branches are great also but I'm focusing on Manhattan because that's the only one I knowon 70th St., York Avenue. It's also right next to the actual NYP Cornell hospitals so very convenient and you can make two appointments in the same day! I grew up thinking that there were systems in place, people in charge that would ensure the world wouldn't tumble into utter chaos...and now I've grown up to find that that is categorically untrue. There are no adults in the room. I could go on with this unrelated, unprompted tangent, but all this is to say that the Hospital for Special Surgery restored my faith in humanity. My mother needed an partial knee replacement, and as her primary helper in all things, I handled the communication, brought her to her appointments, brought her in for surgery, waited, and took her home. Please believe me when I say that every step of the process was handled efficiently, and every one of the many, many people we dealt with was not just good at their job, but they were also courteous and usually downright lovely. Having spent time in several hospitals, this was not what I expected. It was what I hoped for of course, but certainly hasn't been my past experience. From the security personnel who welcomed us to the check-in desk to the intake folks to the nurses who prepped her to the surgeon who operated to the folks who run the Family Atrium where we wait for our people to get released to the nurses who took care of my mom post-op, everyone was organized and impressively on top of things. We had a very slight hiccup with her prescriptions, and the nurse in charge was mortified and immediately worked quite tirelessly to make sure it was taken care of, and later followed up with me to make sure we were all set. I'm not pretending that this will not be an annoying and repetitive process. There is waiting involved (less than you might think though). And if you have surgery, you're going to have seventeen different people ask you who you are, your birth date, what surgery you're getting and more...but better that than them replacing the wrong knee. Best of all, the surgery went smoothly and a little more than a week out, my mom is doing great. If and when I need surgery of my own, I will gladly come to HSS.

I went to him a while back. He had a secretary named Monica who was not friendly and was kind of bossy/pushy. I really did not like her. He had another secretary named Amarilis. Very nice, professional and welcoming. Not sure if either of them are still there.

Dr. Schwartzfarb is one of the best doctors I have encountered in my 81 years. I came to him two…read moreyears ago with a sudden onset of severe joint and muscle pain all over my body, a condition he accurately diagnosed (as polymyalgia rheumatica) and effectively treated with the right medication, frequent blood and urine testing, thorough physical examinations, and, perhaps above all, attentive and sympathetic listening to (and careful recording of) what I had to say during each appointment. That I am today entirely free of this condition I attribute not only to Dr. Schwartzfarb's considerable skill as a physician, but also to his qualities as a human being. He is a doctor who understands and treats his patients not as cases but as people who need help. I won't miss polymyalgia rheumatica, but I will miss the skill and kindness of Dr. Schwartzfarb.

Dr. Jessica Gordon is a rheumatologist specializing in Morphea. If you have Morphea, you'll know…read morethat it is extremely difficult to find a specialist at Dr. Gordon's caliber. I am so happy to have found her at the Hospital for Special Surgery. I had my initial appointment with her via telemedicine, but my follow-up appointment was in office. Temperature checks were taken in the lobby, and I filled out a questionnaire about how I was feeling the night before my appointment. Before getting to the elevators, I was provided a medical mask, so I stored away the mask I was originally wearing to enter the building. The main office was spotless and social distancing was enforced. Hand sanitizer was readily available in multiple areas, and the waiting room was empty except for one other patient. I was seen quickly too. Visiting a doctor or hospital during COVID times is scary, but the cleanliness of the office was apparent and I was confident that the staff took all the necessary precautions. Back to Dr. Gordon - she is knowledgeable, kind, caring, and has superb bedside manner. My appointment with her really put my mind at ease. Blood results came back quickly, and I was able to view almost immediately on the patient portal.

He is very forthright, practical, thorough and a careful listener. He seems to pick up on potential ailments before they may ever occur to you.
