Have known Rob for 20 years through the horse business and can say that he is truly an expert. I have never known him to be in a bad mood which can be a lot to say about a farrier! He is always willing to work with the vet or answer questions, no matter how ridiculous. He researches new technology and makes educated decisions on hoof care... as someone who is always looking for the latest foot trend and asking questions, he is very patient with me. At one point I had moved my horse out of his service area, she went lame and was diagnosed with navicular disease, we were told to use bar shoes and keep her on previcox... I've since learned that navicular disease can be a relative term and that the proper trim can make it nonexistent. Now that we have been back under Rob's care for more than 8 years, we have been barefoot and had zero foot problems. Literally, zero. He is always a good person to bounce ideas off of and being an all around horseman for his whole life has knowledge that stretches far past the hooves. I had been searching for a local farrier for some time for our mini mare with no luck when I happened to find Rob Favicchia on the internet. Even though he was too far from home to make it reasonable to come to our home for regular visits, I decided to give him a call. Boy oh boy I'm certainly glad I did! Rob took my call and listened to my concerns as I explained the current condition of our little horse with the knuckled over rear foot. He patiently coached me and gave me the confidence I needed to trim my mini mare so that she would be comfortable and free of pain. I have Been trimming my own full sized horses for years but minis require smaller tools etc to work with. I sent him photos and X-rays at his request as well. Rob followed up with me and made sure I was comfortable with giving my horse the trim she needed. I will always be grateful to Rob for his expert advice, time and patience and especially grateful that I can now enjoy watching my mini horse galloping happily as she used to! Rob is fantastic. He has been my farrier for 6+ years. He is very attentive to what kind of riding you are doing and makes suggestions on options. I appreciate options.
