What can a photographer say about Nikon repairman Robert Decker? The man is a legend amongst Nikon enthusiasts. Recently, on the advice of a fellow photog who shares my passion for the Nikon F2 (we both plan to be buried with our respective cameras), I contacted Robert. I asked him if he could replace a defective resistor ring in my F2's DP-1 "photomic" viewfinder. The light meter is built into the viewfinder and resistor failure is a common cause of the meter behaving erratically or failing completely. Robert agreed to fix it. He did an excellent job - the meter works like new. I was charged $85 for the repair and $10 return shipping and I got the repaired DP-1 back within two weeks. The cost, the quality of the work and the fast turnaround time are all noteworthy. But in addition, Robert is very good about responding to email. I would like to add to Tomas Altfather G review, I had the same experience in finding a Nikon repairman for my Nikon F2 DP-1 Robert Decker did a great job on my F2 finder and his workmanship is at the top of any camera repairman' he did a great job done on theses' old finders for me, as I have a few of the last Nikon f cameras that where made, I will have no problem in recommending Robert Decker in the event that I need his services in the future. read more

Exceptionally good professional service, and I highly recommend him. I recently sent a Nikon F Photomic FTn prism metering head to Robert Decker for cleaning, reconditioning and calibration. With proper battery voltage (1.35V + 1.35V = 2.7V), the meter needle was moving sluggishly, not moving full-scale, and was producing a consistent 3-stop error. Also, there was a hitch in the prong-slider as it passed through its mid-point (~f/5.6, where the slider resides with the prong retracted, and when using the "stop-down" method of exposure for special components etc). Robert cleaned, repaired all, and returned the unit to me expeditiously. It works as good as new in all regards, and for the very reasonable price originally quoted. read more
