Tiny wart and big red burned area
    April I.

Old fashioned method traumatized my daughter - I don't recommend for warts or kids! First of all, we waited at least 30 minutes to be seen. The doctor came in and saw the warts then went out and came back with a bunch of gauze wrapped around a metal stick, dipped in liquid nitrogen. I don't know why I thought this would be okay, but we let him treat the first wart. The liquid nitrogen was dripping all over her finger and she was screaming in pain. My sister who works for a dermatologist in HI said this was how they used to treat warts. He claimed she was moving too much and that's why... but look at the tiny wart and the red area he burned.

2 second look at the problem, no patient questions asked to give him more insight, and wrong diagnosis given.

Great doctor. If you can overlook the outdated office, I have found his diagnosis and treatment to be right on target.

I stupidly thought that Dr. Robert would be the same. After scratching and itching with getting some kind of rash for the last couple months I figured a dermatology appointment was in order. I have an amazing guy dog travels with me and she does her job well. From the moment that Dr. Robert came in the room he barely acknowledged me and kept talking to the dog. This is so demeaning. Once I told him what I was going through, he started telling me that I was probably imagining things and that he did not see any type of skin issues. I recently struggled with an issue in my home that present itself with hives and such so he basically told me it probably was a mind thing in my head. The whole time he had his back to me. It was just a horrible experience and makes me wonder what people think of blind people. I am a blind professional and pay my own bills but unfortunately in the publics opinion that still makes me less. Finally when I was at my wits end and was just about to tell him to get lost, he promptly says bye to the dog and just walks out of the room. I am like OK, do I even exist or what? I definitely do not recommend this place and I am not going there in the future. The only reason why I am giving it three stars is because the front office staff was amazing.

*** THIS OFFICE IS CLOSED ***…read more They closed with no notice to their patients! My family has been going here for years and Dr. Furst was one of my son's all time fav docs - he even performed surgery on him when he was under 4 years old and they had such a great and fun patient-doc relationship it was so awesome to watch. The entire staff at this practice were awesome too, from the receptionist to the nurse to the audiologist! We were very surprised to find the office closed with zero warning or notifications to their patients. So sad and disappointing but c'est la vie I guess. Best of luck to you Dr. Furst! I hope you retired and sure hope all is well. You will be sorely missed!!!

I originally had no issues with my nose. Due to some breathing discomfort between my throat and…read moretrachea, I went to see Dr. Furst. The doctor asked me to get a CT scan of my nose and neck. After reviewing the scans, he told me that I had a deviated nasal septum that needed surgical correction, and that there was inflammation in my sinuses that needed to be cleared out. He also said he would enlarge the sinus openings to allow mucus to flow more easily. I told him that I didn't feel any discomfort in my nose, so why was surgery necessary? He said that generally, the nose, throat, and trachea are connected--if the nose is fixed, everything else would get better. He assured me that I would fully recover in two weeks, and I believed him, so I went ahead with the surgery. It's been almost two years since the surgery, and I am living in agony. There's a buildup of mucus in my nasopharynx that won't drain down, can't be cleared out, and I can't swallow it either. At night, the mucus flows back into my airway, making it hard to breathe and affecting my sleep. Sleep is so important for a person--poor sleep leads to countless problems. I used to be someone who could fall asleep the moment my head hit the pillow, but now, because of the postnasal drip, I wake up constantly throughout the night. I have tried everything I can, but the thick, sticky mucus keeps accumulating in my nasopharynx. Sometimes, my nasal turbinates swell up, making it even harder to breathe. On top of all this, I now get bacterial infections in my nose almost every month, and each infection makes me suffer for one or two weeks! If I could go back two years, I would slap myself a hundred times for listening to that doctor's advice and agreeing to the surgery. When I went back to see Dr. Furst after the surgery, he told me my nose was fine. So here's the truth: I had no problem with my nose, the doctor told me I had a problem and performed surgery, and now that I'm worse, he claims there's nothing wrong. This is an extremely irresponsible doctor. I'm truly living a life worse than death now. If one day I'm no longer around, it will be because of the surgery Dr. Furst performed. His surgery didn't help me--it ruined me! Dr. Furst, if you ever see this message and if you have even a shred of conscience left, please contact me and work with a more competent doctor to help me recover!

What makes Dr. Aziz stand out? #1 His knowledge/skill is superb. He is always spot on both with diagnosis and with medication. He takes the minimum/least invasive approach if he feels confident about it being successful. No one is perfect, but my family and I have seen Dr. Aziz for nearly a dozen different skin conditions over the last few years and he has always gotten it right, right away! #2 He has an assistant who comes in with him during the visit to scribe. This allows Dr. Aziz to give you his undivided attention. No looking through a chart/papers or worse - the computer screen and typing while attempting to talk to you or answer questions. Why haven't all doctors picked up on this practice? #3 Personable, kind, patient. He is wonderful with kids and elderly alike. He is what you expect in a doctor. He will remember you and whatever you cared to share about your life and make it personal the next time he sees you. Most important of all - he definitely shows that he cares about your well-being! Side note: there are a number of negative reviews here in regards to phone calls or front staff. Yes, I have had to get placed on hold before when calling - but that's because they're assisting another patient whether on the phone or in the office. They do get very busy at times, but that never takes away from the treatment you get once seen by the doctor. Also, if you have an emergency case or need to be seen on the same day, they will squeeze you in! Very few practices are accommodating like this. I have had this happen to me. Be patient and understanding, and when you have an emergency and need to be squeezed in you will appreciate it as well. The front staff, in my opinion, are doing the best they can.

Scheduling an appointment through their website was easy and convenient. I was taken to an exam room close to my appt time (no long wait). I appreciate a doctor's office/medical facility that requires masks. And, unlike other reviews, I had a good customer service when it came to their staff. So, why only 2 stars?? When I found this facility, I wanted to book with Dr. Appiah but, based on the website's scheduling service, it does not appear that she sees new clients. Since their site shows that Dr. Aziz won the same recent award as Dr. Appiah and that he is on faculty at Howard U, I booked with him (Dr. Aziz). When I was in the exam room speaking with the nurse, she asked what my concerns were (dry skin, especially on my face) and I decided to do a full body exam since the description sounded like it would encompass my concerns (at that time, I did not realize that this type of exam is probably looking for skin cancer or anything "strange" - which is not a concern at all). It took NINE minutes from the time the doctor arrived in the exam room, conducted the FULL BODY exam, asked what my concern was (dry skin/face), asked where my face was dry, asked what type of moisturizer I use, told the nurse to put in a prescription (didn't tell me what it was, how to use it, possible interactions, etc.), put on all of my clothes, walk to receptionist desk, pay my $40 copay, and walk to the elevator. NINE MINUTES!!! Ask me how I know..... It's because I sent a text to bae at 2:10, before the doc entered the room, and sent another text to bae at 2:19pm to inform him that I was waiting for an elevator and on my way down! Needless to say, I won't be coming back! But, I still need a dermatologist. Any recommendations?

Karen is really welcoming and friendly, which certainly contributes to a pleasant experience. She also takes care with her services, prepping you before and after, and in speaking with her, I can tell she is very knowledgeable about her industry, which assures me that I'm in good hands (though the positive results are of course telling). She also offers other services, such as microdermabrasion and others that justify the business name, but I have not received those. The prices for the hair removal services I receive are a bit expensive, but one of the reasons I initially sought out SCS is because the prices are generally competitive for the area (i.e., DC's more expensive, but more rural businesses may be cheaper). Skin Care Solutions is located in the same building as Jon David's Salon, and the front desk is operated by the salon. The front area is of course salon-y and has that haute couture ambiance, but I survive just fine wearing a t-shirt and jeans for my appointments. The people at the front desk are generally friendly and treat me as a valued client. Ultimately, I would definitely recommend Skin Care Solutions' hair removal services; I've had mostly satisfactory results with competitive prices, which I feel make for good value.
