The staff is friendly and I have never come across broken seating or sticky floors when visiting. Lots of space which is a big plus so you don't have to cram in next to another couple if you don't want to. Comfortable well maintained seats and the screen itself is in excellent shape. The concessions and the facilities have always been clean when I've gone in.

Also, word of warning - if you have a screening in either screen 4/5/6/7 prepare to walk a hell of lot of stairs!

And you NEED the refreshments to get through the 20minutes of trailers and adverts before the film even starts. The seats are comfy, and the screens are a decent size. However the staff are not interested in the customers, and the joint queue for both refreshments AND tickets is ridiculous, especially if your film is about to start!

There isn't the biggest choice compared to multiplexes, to be honest, but they do their bit and show enough films, concerts and plays that you'll definitely find something tempting if you spend more than a few days in town. This cinema has room for improvement but I like it…read more It is totally old school and reminds me of picture houses when I was a wee lass. You enter on the ground floor where you buy your tickets. But the screens are on the floors up the stairs (there's disabled access). There are 4 screens and there is usually a decent selection of films for all ages and tastes. Some screens are smaller than others and there is one which seems to sit just a few dozen. However the seats are comfortable, the screens and film quality is good and the place is clean. This is more than I can say for some chains I have been to. There is also an old fashioned projector that you can have a look at. The down side is there is very limited food and the staff can be a bit grumpy. However, if you eat at the Shish Tandoori first (see review) you won't be hungry. Plus, there is a Tesco near by if you need to stock up on treats for the film.

The cinema has the capacity to show 3D movies and a small bar so you can take a drink into the screening ... not bad for an independent. On the subject of comfort, I am 6' 2" and weigh 115 kilos, so I aint small, and I find the seats as comfy as most other cinemas ... and more comfy than certain big city chains that I won't mention. The seating capacity of the larger screens must be about the same as the Carlisle cinemas (the home of the previous reviewer). And at least you can book your seat so you know where you will be sitting.

Stadium style seating, assigned seats but the seats are small, and don't recline at all. You pay for your ticket and concessions up front at the same counter. You can even get milkshakes there. Though I wouldn't reccommend them, they were awfully sweet, over sweet. The popcorn was alright, and of course I got bottled water because that's what I drink. The previews were entertaining because UK commercials are SO much better and more inventive than US.
