All these were delicious - and they heated up the cheese pastry for me, which was a perfect more savory but very slightly sweet start to this decadent meal. I do my best to order and communicate in French, and I appreciated that the lady helping me spoke back to me in French as well, and was patient with my poor language skills. I was extremely surprised and very appreciative that she actually gifted me an extra slice of tart aux pommes!! I didn't expect that and I felt very welcomed by such a exchange. I ended bringing that slice all the way home to NYC with me where I shared it with my partner. He usually doesn't like sweets like this, but said this one was a really good balance of sweet and tart. Of course I got a classic Authentic Croissant and their famous Escargot Pistache Chocolat which were both delicious. The Escargot Pistache Chocolat can't be skipped. It was slightly dry & crisp but I liked the flaky bits and the fact that each bite had a little bit of pistachio and chocolate. The Pain Chocolate Banane was my absolute favorite! It's a classic Pain au Chocolate cooked with pieces of fresh organic banana. I'm still dreaming about it. If you see this on display, do yourself a favor and grab one! It took a regular Pain au Chocolat and made it exponentially better! It was flaky, sweet, buttery, and everything a pastry should be. The Chausson a la Pomme Fraiche was also a great try. It is half a fresh apple cooked in a puff pastry turnover. I love that they use fresh fruits in their pastries and some of them were literally still warm when we got them, so I highly recommend going early. We even got some of their famous Pain des Amis for our picnic which was super pleasant. Amazing bakery!

We went in pretty much every morning we were staying in Paris and in my terrible French, I would order an almond croissant, a regular croissant, and two coffees. The woman who was working there was very kind and I think she appreciated my attempts to speak French (or she just felt bad for me). The croissants were so buttery, flaky, and everything a croissant should be. Out of all of the croissants I ate while we were traveling, this almond croissant had the most flavor. The prices were fair and the portion sizes were massive. I know there are a ton of bakeries in Paris but if you happen to find yourself a little outside of the city center and wanting to support a small local business, come check out Au Pain Doré.

Welcome to the summum of deliciousness, this is probably the best boulangerie in Paris. Bread and…read morepastries are fantastic, and on selected days there are special breads (including some experimental ones, for example with matcha and azukis, or with apples and cider, or even with white chocolate and black charcoal!). I tried: baguette, a sandwich, pain préféré, brioche mounia, the escargots, the flan, the croissant, the pain au chocolat, a fondant au chocolat. Their bread has no rivals in Paris, in my opinion. Special mention to the pain au chocolat, which is crumbly (a very good sign) and tastes like it has a whole chocolate stick. I have yet to try something I didn't like there. On the downside, it's far in the 20th (the closest metro line is the pointless 3bis) and closed on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Each time it's a journey to get there. But a rewarding one.
