He went out of his way to accommodate my tight timeline and the financial aspects as well. The doctor made me feel comfortable and at ease the whole time. I was nervous, but his calm, friendly energy and sense of humor really helped, and I always felt safe in his care. He was thorough and attentive, making sure everything was done properly--including the temporary seal so I could travel comfortably. The dental assistants were also incredibly sweet and supportive, which made the experience even smoother and more reassuring. Overall, truly above and beyond care during a stressful situation. I would highly recommend him and his office without hesitation.

I had never gotten a root canal before and was feeling really nervous, especially because I was in the early days of pregnancy. Dr. Forghani took the time to answer all of my questions and talked me through all the pros and cons of doing it now vs. waiting. I've never had a dentist (yet alone any doctor) spend that much time with me prior to a procedure, and I felt so much more calm because I trusted him. The procedure itself was relatively quick and the only painful part was really the numbing shots on both sides. After he thoroughly removed the dead nerves, my tooth already started to come back to its normal color and with a bit of bleaching, it almost looks normal now. This was honestly the best experience I could've ever asked for and I'm so grateful that Dr. Forghani was my doctor for this. He's not only a talented doctor but is also an incredible human -- he's kind, empathetic, and thoughtful. You will be in great hands under his care. Thanks to Olivia, Tamar and other staff for their exceptional service as well.

I have visited multiple dental offices in NYC before, and this was by far the most unprofessional experience I've had. A young assistant took me in and told me new x-ray needed to be taken. She seemed inexperienced and struggled to position the sensor in my mouth, she attempted to place it over 10 times, and each attempt was very painful. At no point was I given a lead apron for radiation protection. She took about 4-5 x-ray shots without getting a usable result, then a more senior staff member came in to help and took another 3-4 shots. They then determined the equipment was malfunctioning and moved me to a different room, where they took 3-4 more shots. When I asked whether it was even safe to take this many x-rays in one day, the senior staff just said the equipment couldn't produce a clear image. When I mentioned I'd never experienced anything like this at any other office in NYC, she responded sarcastically, "Oh really? Then you have to take a CBCT today." What's more puzzling is that the dentist only came in to look at my case after the CBCT scan was done. If a CBCT was going to be required regardless, I don't understand why I was put through so many rounds of x-rays beforehand. I have no complaints about the dentist herself. But the lack of professionalism, patience, and basic safety protocol (no lead apron) from the assistants made this an extremely uncomfortable and concerging visit.

Dr. Tam was thorough and took the time to explain my situation and answer my questions. My case was…read morecomplex, which is why I sought a specialist. After reviewing X-rays, a CT scan, and performing a probing test, he suspected a possible fracture and said he wasn't confident he could achieve a better outcome than the first root canal (which was done by a general dentist). My gum had a deep pocket and bone loss that he described as J-shaped. He explained this raised concern for a possible fracture. Later, from my own research, I found that J-shaped bone loss can sometimes have other causes as well, not only fractures. Because of that, he recommended extraction. At the time I trusted his judgment, but after extraction I was informed there was no visible fracture. I deeply regret not seeking additional opinions before proceeding. I would have appreciated a clearer discussion of all options up front, for example: (1) retreatment, (2) attempt retreatment and extract only if a fracture is confirmed, or (3) proceed directly to extraction. Also, I arrived on time but waited about 45 minutes past my appointment, and I had difficulty reaching the office by phone and email. Overall, this was a painful experience for me. If you have a complex case, consider getting second or third opinions before making an irreversible decision.

The second attempt and I waited for an hour and a half in the office when they came in and asked me if I'd like to reschedule or "wait for the scanner to be fixed"? Really? Add to the mess the rudest, most dismissive office manager I've ever encountered. She wouldn't return my calls and when I finally spoke with her she spent the time loudly talking over me. She was fixated on repeatedly letting me know all conversations are recorded therefore wouldn't listen to my timeline of events. A recorded phone call isn't the full picture and as a manager you should want to know where and how the ball was dropped. Two and a half weeks later and my dentist didn't receive the report, I didn't receive a receipt for the money I paid until I reached out to ask for it (even though I was told it would be sent digitally). I received a breakdown from my insurance stating I owed an additional $200 plus dollars. My dentist had to call them to get that waived. I had no issue with the doctor, she was pleasant and professional. The management is beyond lacking, sloppy and unprofessional. I'm sure there will be a lame response from them citing a miscommunication- save it.

Firstly, he was EXTREMELY rough with the way he handled the tools in my mouth. I've been to other dentists. They don't make you feel as if you're a dead frog being dissected by a 5th grader for his science project. After the xrays, he said it's a problem in my wisdom tooth and the options are limited, but he can try with a partial root canal that same day. He immediately injects me with numbing medicine and a few other shots which I was not told about, sticks more tools in my mouth, and after a lot of pulling, he says "Actually I can't do this." EXCUSE ME? You have already injected me to prepare me for an OPERATION and IN THE MIDDLE of said operation, you take back your words. He is utterly incompetent and unprofessional. When the x-rays went back to my actual dentist, I was told I need a simple wisdom tooth extraction, not a root canal at all. I am horrified. Absolutely horrified. I'm not in a third world country. I expected to be treated better by a medical professional. No communication. No care.

I went in for my annual cleaning, and the entire visit went smoothly. A special shoutout to Ed, who was incredibly personable and took the time to educate me throughout the appointment. Every visit feels like a sales pitch where they try to upsell you on additional services and procedures. Going here honestly feels more like being pressured at an auto repair shop than being at a dentist's office. I continued going mainly because it was convenient and close by, despite consistently leaving frustrated after appointments. The final straw was when I had to cancel an appointment because of a family emergency, and months later they informed me I owed a $50 cancellation fee before they would see me. I paid it because I was already there for my cleaning, but I knew at that moment I would never return. What really pushed this over the edge was that just a few weeks later, my partner had an appointment there and the office called the same day to cancel because one of the dentists had a medical emergency. Apparently emergencies are understandable when it affects them, but not when it affects patients. To make matters worse, they recently sent an email announcing they now require deposits to book appointments because of patient cancellations. I have never encountered another dental office in Jersey City doing this. There are plenty of other dentists in the area that treat patients with more respect and have policies that don't feel so hypocritical. The only reason this isn't a one-star review is because they once gave me a free electronic toothbrush during a promotion. Thanks for that, at least.
