Awful! Would thoroughly recommend people stay away from this jeweller. Am sure they are fine when all is well but as soon as there is a problem they will lie, ignore and do anything to wriggle out of the situation. We purchased wedding bands a few years ago on visit one got a quote for two rings we liked, on visit two tried the rings again along with some others, and opted for the original two. Once home found the original quote which was much lower than what we were paying so phoned then returned to store to be told that the price of platinum had gone up which was why the price differed. This was a lie. When we showed up to collect our rings they were the wrong ones mine didn't even fit with my engagement ring it was so large and thick and it was clear that the assistant who ordered for us had put down the incorrect order number. The service we got after that was dispicable - Robert Anthony didn't see the problem that we had the wrong rings for a more expensive price. As my husband had a satinised finish on his ring they claimed that the manufacturer wouldn't accept it as a return. After several weeks of letters and phonecalls, I eventually got legal advice and put together a letter with several points that showed the assistant who served us had been backtracking about putting the wrong number down. I am convinced she and the business knew that she was in the wrong but they wouldn't hold their hands up to it. In the end I threatened legal action and Robert Anthony called a few days later to say that the manufacturer had miraculously changed their mind about accepting the returned rings, so we got the ones we originally chose at the price we were quoted. All's well that ends well, but it really turned sour what should have been a very special purchase for us. Can't even walk past the Rose Street store without shuddering! Went to look at wedding bands and ask about repairing the slightly loose stone on my engagement ring. Once we had had a look at the bands and as this was the first shop we'd been in, it was fairly obvious that we would not be buying that day we were dropped like a stone, I should have taken this as an omen but got talked into leaving my engagement ring with them to tighten up the claws, BIG mistake! When the ring was finaly returned to me (originaly told a week to 10 days and took over 3 weeks-they had my ring for longer than I had!) it looked like someone had been let loose with a soldering iron and just melted the platinum onto the stone.. I burst into tears when I saw it, the shop assistiant who was aparantly the owners son, coulnd't see what was wrong with the 'repair' and after i started making a fuss in the front of the shop was ushered into the back to discuss.. after many more visits and phonecalls i finaly agreed to a whole new setting and style of ring as this was all that was on offer. I'm not even sure it is the same diamond as the valuation for the new set ring was over £500 less than the original valuation certificate. What should have been a month of showing off my engagement ring was taken away and replaced with stress and tears i'll never set foot in one of their shops again and will warn everyone else off them.. read more

I have visited Robert Anthony Jewellers both in Rose Street and in the GyLe and have always found the staff in both shops helpful,polite and attentive. In the Gyle shop my eye had been caught by some beautiful pearls large translucent creamy pearls- absolutely beautiful The assistant there was very patient and knowledgeable about the merchandise and took time with me - no sense of being obliged to buy. I bought the pearls and decided to have earrings and a bracelet to match. With this in mind I went into the Rose street branch and the charming owner took time to discuss possible designs for the earrings and bracelet, which have since been completed and look stupendous. I recently got my sapphire engagement ring from Robert Anthony Jewellers on Rose Street and they were fantastic. From the moment we first walked into the store to the point I walked out with the re-sized ring they were professional and friendly, especially Amna. There was no strong sales pitch which I had experienced in several other stores in Edinburgh and they were very knowledgeable about their products. A few days after purchasing the ring we found a chip in the sapphire. They were extremely apologetic, took the ring back and immediately replaced the sapphire without hesitation. I recently bought the most beautiful engagement ring from Robert Anthony Rose Street. The manager, Emma, was extremely helpful and kept me informed informed every step of the way, from choosing the setting, acquiring various diamonds for me to look at and explaining the differences between them to providing certification and valuation. Overall the customer service was second to none, they even managed to source a necklace for me which was the last one in the country direct from the supplier, bringing forward their order to fit my timescales. My husband took me to Robert Anthony to buy a diamond ring for my 65th birthday,we stated our price range and Emma who served us,was extremely helpful,not pushy in the least and very patient as I took an age to choose my beautiful present. I have purchased from these Jewellers on three separate occasions. On each of my return visits, the staff did something unheard of in this day and age and remembered me! Their customer service is the best I have experienced in any of Edinburgh's jewellers and I would recommend them just as they were recommended to me. They have a range of products to meet most budgets and I felt like they listened when we told them what we wanted. To cut a very long story short, it took a court summons to get this lot to accept that the goods they provided were of shoddy quality and that their customer service is the absolute pits. They tried their best to ruin our wedding and it took well over a year for them to refund the cost of the items bought. They settled out of court with less than 24 hours to go. Be aware that they are not members of any trade associations. They will ignore any phone calls, letters etc Trading standards know about their ways, as does the small claims court. My experience with Robert Anthony in the Gyle has been superb. They made bespoke wedding bands for both my husband and myself in 2009. We had a very tight timeline as I arranged my wedding in 9 weeks, this was not a problem for them. Following the loss of my rings less than a year later, they made and helped me design a new bespoke ring. Absolutely brilliant service, really lovely experience having travelled to Edinburgh for a getaway. At every point the assistant was extremely helpful over the period of a few days, not pushy at all. I would never use this company wouldn't even recommend it to my worst enemy. Bought my wife's engagement ring and had a fault with it and they have back pedaled every angle possuble to avoid rectifying this defeat. Awful service , poor quality expected more for spending £3600 on a ring never again. STAY CLEAR of this shop. Couldn't put less than one star or would have. I got a diamond ring from these guys in their Gyle Store in Edinburgh and the claw actually broke off the ring. When I took it back to get fixed as it was only a few weeks old, I was told by the assistant that 'they had a machine that proved I had pulled the ring apart'. What the ****??!! Sorry but a decent 18ct gold ring shouldn't be able to be pulled apart with bare hands let alone break with general everyday use!! Absolute disgrace! read more
