I am reporting my negative experience with John Seevers…read more My ex-husband and I agreed to file a joint tax return for 2023. It was one of the few things he and I agreed on during our divorce, which was final as of Dec 22, 2023. This divorce was hell for me. My decision to divorce came after 22 years of marriage and nearly 30 years together, half of my life, and the last 10 years spent supporting my husband during his cancer. At the outset of the divorce, it was my goal to take the high road. I filed for Legal Separation and said to him, "If you are fair to me, I will continue to support you, I just don't want to live with or be married to you." Yet, my ex insisted on enforcing a punishing prenup that left me with approximately 5% of the net worth I helped him build and maintain. He gets 2 homes, valued jointly at $2.5 million. I get sent packing. Anyway, that's the background. About John Seevers. At the end of February, at my ex-husband's prodding, I dropped off my tax materials at Valentine Seever's office. The front desk person was kind and friendly and said, Janette or John will call me back. Less than 5 minutes later, John Seevers called me back. His message was short, "I won't do business with you. You'll have to go elsewhere. I will only do business with your husband." John treated me like a pariah. He dropped me as a client all on his own. I communicated with my ex-husband, and he assured me he didn't tell John to do this (although you never know). Add to that, in 2018, John hired me as his office manager, but I turned the job down because I had to care for my then husband and handle his cancer appointments. So you would think John would know that my journey has not been easy. I had legitimate reasons for divorcing my ex-husband, mainly my mental and emotional health. Having a trusted professional treat a woman who is just trying to survive is unprofessional and bullying. At some point, it is too much. Kindness matters.

John tells me they are offering a discounted rate for their services because it's off season and they aren't that busy. He explained he was taking a vacation and would be back the following week. He gave me some instructions and a list of things he needed from me by the time he got back. He told me he would get everything done in a few days once he got started. I brought in everything he asked and had it in the office the day before he would return on his vacation. I did not receive a call or a return to my calls for 5 days. I finally get a call the following Monday saying he is too busy and wont get to my taxes for another 2 weeks followed by another 2 weeks to finish everything. This man has waisted 2 weeks of my time only to be told to come get my paperwork and that he doesn't think he can do it at all. I would never recommend this company. It's a shit show. Because of them, I am no closer to buying a house and the one I was going to make an offer on, is now sold. Thanks John and VSA.
