Was very happy with the quick service at Dr. Rees office being my first meeting. I found Dr. Rees to be very personal and knowledgeable. I had my teeth whiten and was very happy with the results! I have not had any discomfort from the procedure as you sometime can. I would highly recommend Dr. Rees and his office. read more

I really like Dr. Reese and his team! I started taking our two boys age 4 and 6 to see him and so far the treatment has been excellent! One of my boys needs some work and I really appreciate a dentist that feels like he cares and is willing to work with our family. I went to a pediatric dentist in Pacific Beach who was really not very friendly or caring to our children. Dr. Reese and his assistant are awesome. Gentle and kind. Take your whole family! read more

I have been going to Dr Rees for over a year now for both regular maintanance (ie cleanings) and detal work (crowns, fillings, etc). The experience has been great and in fact my entire family (wife, kids ages 9 and 11) go with Dr Rees as well. I have seen some of the reviews on here complaining about the office trying to sell them products. In my opinion a Dental Practice is a business and I would think part of its revenues comes from selling products in addition to services. I for one want to know what products they have thay may enhance my health. If I cant afford it I simply decline in polite fashion or postpone until I can. The staff here goes to great lengths to make you feel comfortable and all the work they have done has exceeded expectations. I highly recommend this Dentist and his staff. Thank you Dr. Rees!! read more

Good Dentist, The Staffi is friendly and efficient. Yes, they can charge for "extra" things like speical floride rinse, etc.. that isn't covered by insurance, but this is the more of an issue with our health care & insurance system. This kind of thing also happens at other dentists and at my regular Dr. Most dental insurance only covers 1500-2000, per year, so you wind up paying out of pocket more if you do anything other than cleaning and a caviety or two. I am confortable and confident with Dr. Reese, and he is stright forward, which I like. He took extra time to answer my extended questions and showed me how my night time clenching is destroying my teeth. A night guard is in my near future...oh well, better than the pain and $$$ in my later years... BTW, my hygenist, Jackie ROCKS! - Super friendly and very informative! Improvements? A Scotch on the rock would be nice! read more

Interesting to read Dr. Rees's comments to my review. If he had gotten the scan of my tooth as I requested he would have quickly seen that the roots of this tooth were rotten and barely holding into the gum and that the tooth needed to be extracted as quickly as possibly which I also requested. What he was thinking was never communicated to me in the office visit. Also interesting that the insurance refunded my total charge of $330 after they examined my complaint. read more

I recently broke my tooth on a Saturday and wasn't sure what dentist to choose for my repair. I found Dr. Rees via 1 880-DENTIST. He was very caring for my well being, he called me Sat. nite to check to see if I was in pain and told me his office will call me Mon. to make an appt. After my initial visit, I needed an onlay ( fixes only the portion of the tooth that broke off ) instead of a crown. He was very professional, used top end equipment and gave me a quote, what I would pay and what my insurance would cover. I proceeded with his treatment plan and I have no complaints. I had a temporary until the lab made the permanent onlay. He is a true perfectionist. He worked on my new tooth until I was completely satisfied with my bite. My tooth feels like my original tooth. No imperfections at all. I would recommend him to any of my family and friends. read more

I simply can't say enough good things about Dr. Rees & his staff. My first dental experiences in life weren't until after I was 17 years old when I joined the Navy. Unfortunately, those experiences did not go well and caused me to naturally avoid my dental care. The resulting deterioration and loss of my teeth was so bad I became quite adept at hiding my teeth. I didn't smile at all. I remember I was mortified by an innocent child's observation of my teeth at a social event. I was very emotionally and socially affected by the poor condition of my teeth. Prior to meeting Dr. Rees my last dental visit was a cleaning in 1992. I was very anxious and almost canceled my first appointment. I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of his staff from the moment I entered the office. And the atmosphere was elegant and spacious with candles and soft music. I was quite pleased at the attention and expertise of Dr. Rees' staff as I completed my paperwork. They had refreshments and everything was quite clean. I had no sooner finished my papers when Dr. Rees' assistant came up to me and smiled as he said my name. He brought me through their wonderful facility to a small conference room where I met with Dr. Rees. I had never had an experience like this before. My fears, though not far behind were set at ease as the doctor introduced himself and sat with me for a brief interview. He asked me questions about my experiences, my fears and my expectations for my dental care. Looking back, it was a quite a big thing that I was so comfortable and able to go through my examination and cleaning so well. Both the doctor and his assistant worked so well together I felt as though I was amongst friends. The doctor's assistant was very knowledgeable and friendly. He explained everything as we went along. And doctor's hygienist was quite gentle and professional. We discussed my fears and how "Sleep Dentistry" would allow me to go through my procedures with ease and comfort. All in all, I was both amazed and pleased at how easy Dr. Rees and his staff made my dental 'recovery' possible. And, his front office administrative staff were so professional and expert in helping me make this a reality both by fitting my visits into my busy schedule and making my treatments affordable for me. I cannot express how wonderful it now feels to smile. I am forever grateful to Dr. Rees and his wonderful staff for allowing me to recover my dental health and for just allowing me to smile again. Now, I keep my regular cleanings and exams up without any fears. I cannot thank Dr. Rees and his staff enough. I would ( and often do) recommend them to anyone. read more

I am disappointed by Dr. Rees. He strikes me as arrogant. He pushed for me to get a custom night guard to wear to keep me from grinding my teeth. Something must have gone wrong when they made it because the night guard has always fit terribly and been uncomfortable to wear. The first time I complained about it, he tried to make some "adjustments" to it by grinding it down, but that didn't make it fit any better. He dismissed my complaints about it by telling me I "had to get used to it." The second time I complained about it, he told me it was only uncomfortable because i was pregnant. (which doesn't explain why it was uncomfortable for the period prior to be becoming pregnant). And the third time I visited him and he asked if I was wearing it at night, I told him no because it was so uncomfortable and he asked why I hadn't mentioned it to him! He also installed a crown but he left a huge gap underneath it where food constantly gathers. This never happened before. He denied it had anything to do with the work he performed. Don't go to him. He's a used car salesman for teeth. read more

On May 11, 2005, I felt sick and my gums and back of my throat were swollen. I called the office of Dr. Rees and they asked me come in on May 12 because it sounded as if my wisdom teeth may be agitated. I went to the appointment on May 12, and Dr. Rees informed me, after a 10 minute evaluation that I needed my wisdom teeth pulled. He told me that he could do the procedure himself because the teeth weren't impacted. I returned the following day, May 13th for the procedure. After looking in my mouth for a minute, Dr. Rees pointed out that I had a sore in my mouth. He thought it may be a form of herpes. Dr. Rees told me that I would be feeling better the next day. I woke up on May 14th and felt worse than the day before. My husband called Dr. Rees and he told me to continue to drink fluids and try to start eating again. At this time, I had not been able to eat or drink anything. All I could do was sleep. On Sunday morning, May 15th, I realized something must be wrong because I was not feeling any better. My husband called Dr. Rees again and explained that I was not feeling better and that the inside of my mouth was black. During this conversation, Dr. Rees acknowledged that he had noticed my mouth was discolored on Friday but thought it was due to poor nutrition.I proceeded to the Urgent Care, where I was diagnosed with a severe case of strep throat. I was given an antibiotic via a shot. At this point, I still had not ate anything. I woke up at 3 am, May 16th, I realized that I was feeling even worse. My husband took me to the Scripps ER in La Jolla. They diagnosed me with an additional ailment of a viral infection via a large spread of herpes on my mouth, gums, and throat.I had over two dozen sores in my mouth. This is why it was impossible for me to eat or swallow. Why would a trained dentist, continue with a major procedure that he does not perform on a daily basis, when he knew or assumed the patient was in poor health? Any person with any medical background would have been able to diagnose my original ailment as strep not needing my wisdom teeth removed!! read more

Dr. Reese seems pretty good. Very thorough, but I felt like I was being pressured a little too much.

Very nice, efficient, and caring staff. Great attention to detail and comfort for the patient. Dr. Rees is my regular dentist.

I should have read the reviews before coming here. I'm warning you to stay away. First issue I faced was that I was also given an oral cancer screening without being informed that insurance does not cover that and that I would pay out of pocket. Someone below stated experiencing the same thing, Dr. Rees replied stating that they let their patients know up front which is completely false and a serious red flag. In fact, I had them credit me back the money for my following cleaning. This was a while back but what is causing me to write this review now is the fact that he stated that I need 9 or 10 fillings for my cavities. I thought that can not be right, so I did not go through with it. Fast forward to seeing my new dentist who informed me that I only have 1 cavity and that 4 of my old cavities from 20 years ago were in need of replacement since they were decaying. Even if he was counting those 5, where did he get the other 4 extra cavities. All is all this Dentist is about making money at your expense. He even told me that I grind my teeth and tried to up-sell me on some mouth guard. He is the first and last dentist ever to have come up with that "diagnosis". -I don't see my review on here anymore, I wonder if they had something to do with it getting removed. read more

Hold on to your wallet, the only passion truly going on in this office is money, dentistry is a very distant second. There's plenty of good hearted dentist out there somewhere my fellow yelpers, just look up and down Herschel Ave. The nicest thing about this office is the fact that it is in la jolla. Other then that, choose wisely, choose someone who honsetly cares about you as the patient, not his empty wallet. read more

I moved here several years ago and asked friends for recommendations for a dentist. I am still thanking them for Dr. Reese. He is a great dentist and a wonderful person. I am a very nervous patient, like many of us, and do not enjoy going. If you must, this is the very BEST dentist I have ever seen. He and his staff are extremely competent, kind. and helpful. read more

Dr Rees is a decent dentist. My major issue is his business ethics. Dr Rees puts money over people. He owed me money from an overpayment. Never said a word! As soon as I owe him, I get an instant invoice. read more

Great dentist! Have been going to him for the past 10 years which says a lot. Had everything done - root canals, extractions, implants... you name it. Doctor Rees is a great professional, highly knowledgeable and ethical. Being born in a former communist Eastern block country our dental hygiene wasn't the best when we were kids and you have to deal with these consequences years later. His office team (including receptionists and dental hygienists) are top notch professionals, friendly and accommodating. It takes time to earn someone's trust and I definitely trust Dr. Rees with my teeth. Highly recommend him and so glad I found him! His practice is conveniently located in La Jolla and parking is very easy too! read more

A professional, efficient, pain-free dental experience. Claire did a great job securing pre-authorization on the insurance end, while Dr. Rees and his competent staff performed an absolutely PAIN-FREE route canal! I have had several performed by other dentists, all which had me out of commission for days. With Dr. Rees, I was literally at the gym by the afternoon and wasn't subjected to an evening on the couch with tapioca pudding with an Ensure chaser ;) Seriously, I Highly recommend this Dentist. read more

I have gone to Dr. Rees since he started practice in La Jolla. His service & competence are excellent. Staff are helpful and friendly. I have had fillings & crowns over the years. He explains options for care and formulates a treatment plan. He utilizes the most up to date materials & techniques. I have been a private pay patient and with dental insurance. read more

Dr. Rees is a great dentist and his staff are very nice and professional! You walk into his office and you're instantly calmed by the scented candles, great music and refreshments offered in his waiting area. There's also a great statue of Poseidon in there, which I love since I'm Greek! The entire staff cares about your experience there. read more

If there were ever a dental professional in need of sanctioning, this guy is it! He makes it up as he goes along and then performs work he isn't competent to do. I had work done on a tooth that didn't have any decay, then had a root canal that was botched and needed oral surgery to repair the damage. Stay clear!! read more

DO NOT SEE this Dentist!! I originally went to see him for a crown that fell off and all of the sudden I needed not only a new crown but also an onlay or another tooth that never bothered me but he "thought it was cracked", he also said I had 4 cavities.(my last dentist appt was just 6 months ago with no issues detected by the previous dentist). Of course I agreed to the treatment that costed me over $1900 with insurance!!! I wish I never had any work done at that office- while placing an onlay on the tooth he irritated the nerve and I had pain for over 2 months and was forced to take ibuprofen 4 times a day in order to function, the pain would wake me up at night and I missed many days at work because of that! 2 months later he finally said I will need a rooth canal in order to get rid of the pain...and of course wanted to charge me $900 for it! I was never informed on any complications of this procedure and that I might need a rooth canal afterwards. I decided to have a specialist preform the rooth canal and he commented that placing onlay was not appropriate in the first place and that I will need a now crown on that tooth and that the previous crown he placed on the other tooth has a crack and will need to be replaced. "Dr."Reese took zero responsibility for this and continued to standby his work even though multiple dentist said it was not a correct treatment. Just save yourself time, pain and missed work days and do not go see him! I wish I have read all of the reviews on here before I proceeded... I learned my lesson! ... and you are welcome! read more

I have been going to Dr. Rees for a year or two and am very happy with his services. Recently he repaired two chipped front teeth with what look like caps to me but I think he called veneers. He was scrupulous about ensuring that they matched my other front teeth and sent them back twice for revised coloring. Each time he had to spend extra time and resources with and on me and he did it cheerfully and without additional charges to me. I very much admire his professionalism in handling this important project and recommend him to others without hesitation. read more
