In my opinion, Dentist Rees takes advantage of your pain, circumstances, and most of all the Insurance claim process. From the reviews you will see one of his favorite schemes is the Porcelain Onlay/Crown Upsell. In other words, Mr. Rees is a Porcelain Pusher. He hides behind the convoluted Insurance process, and then blames glitches or staff to cover his tracks. On top of all of that, Rees also does shoddy work. The two Porcelain Onlays he pushed on me aren't even in my mouth anymore because both teeth needed root canal treatment, not Porcelain onlays. I suffered extreme pain, and a new dentist confirmed from past x-rays that the same decay was seen before and after the Rees onlay, and the best option would have been root canal to start with. Just 3 months after one of the onlays, I needed emergency root canal on same tooth. The other tooth he put a porcelain onlay has since been extracted, as well as the tooth next to it that Rees' lack of treatment contributed to. It's a drag that you need to adhere to the saying "Buyer Beware" when entering Rees' offices. It is what it is, and I only wish I would have had a second opinion before allowing the Porcelain Pusher to proceed. But wait... there's more.... A year and a half after Rees' upsell and shoddy work, I start getting blank invoices from him saying I owe $951. In November and December 2020, I specifically remember the office staff making me wait while they checked insurance deductible and coverages. I paid my portion on the spot based on the information this office provided. In May of 2022, almost 18 month later, I get a Blank Invoice from Rees with a Balance Due for $951. Even after requesting more information about this balance directly with Rees' office, I keep getting additional BLANK invoices monthly from Rees. Then in Sept. 2022 I get a letter from a Collection Agency stating I owe a balance. It was not until the beginning of October 2022, almost 2-years since the unnecessary and costly porcelain onlay procedures... I finally get an Itemized detail of the supposed charges. Beware of Robert Rees the La Jolla Porcelain Pusher. Get a second opinion, especially if he recommends a filling or onlay because there's a good chance he's upselling you. You also need to call the insurance company yourself before accepting what his office tells you is left on your deductible. Do not trust him or his staff, or you too will receive a blank invoice 2-years later. I already paid my $950 portion for these un-needed costs... money that should have gone to root canals to begin with... I refuse to pay additional because of incompetent staff and questionable business practices. Have you been ripped off by Rees? Or are you a former employee interested in whistleblowing? I plan to contact our local Television News Consumer Reporters in hopes they will report on this unscrupulous dentist. Please email porcelainpusher@yahoo.com with your contact info and your Rees Horror story.

Dr Rees is no longer my dentist due to the decline in the quality of his front office staff, hygienists, and his own work.

BEWARE. This office practices some very shady tactics with billing and insurance. Fair warning,…read morecheck all your claims because even if you don't technically pay out of pocket, it'll eat into your maximum coverage and benefits. I came for a free invisalign consultation after seeing an ad for "Align Your Teeth" day last year. It promised a free consultation and free scan and I was in the process of screening offices for treatment. At first this seemed okay, but I wasn't feeling their "vibe" even before going in. They sent me way too many emails and texts before going into my appointment to the point where it was suffocating. Walking in, the office was well maintained but had a sort of gimmicky vibe that I can't place my finger on. The appointment was fine and I started to rethink my prior opinion. I was considering even switching to them for my regular dental cleanings/treatment as the staff was friendly. Although I will note that the assistant/hygenist who was helping me during the consultation was strangely more involved with planning my treatment than the actual dentist. No offense to her because she was very kind, but I think it was weird that she was trying to diagnose me which she wasn't qualified to do, while the dentist seemed a little disinterested. Can't blame her since it was a "free" consultation, but something to note. Weeks later, I go to check my dental claims and noticed that this office billed me for 2 services equalling to $650 which was outrageous. The first claim was for a panoramic xray that I thought was included in the consultation. Upon calling the office, I was told "the consulation is free, but we bill the insurance for whatever we can". I told her, lucky for me I haven't gotten an xray done in the last 60 months or else I would have had to pay out of pocket. I told her that I was never notified that this would be an additional charge and she told me it was my fault for not asking and essentially trying to make me feel like I was stupid/crazy. Even though it happened to be covered this time, this is an issue of highly unethical behavior. I wouldn't trust them with my health if they're like this on the billing side of things just because I didn't proceed with treatment. The second charge according to the charge code was for diagnostic study models. The insurance rejected it and it ended up falling under my name and could have potentially made me delinquent to a creditor or collector. If it had gone through and billed to ortho like they intended, it would have eaten 30% of my lifetime orthodontia coverage, which is even worse. The person I spoke with was very dismissive with me in her tone and language until she realized that I had conference called her with my insurance on the line and she quickly changed her tune. All of a sudden she was more than happy to remove the second charge from my account and offer to send me my xrays. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR CLAIMS. I was actually impressed that they hadn't tried to upsell me for treatments like I've experienced at many other dental offices, but now I realize that it's because they try to fly under the radar and charge insurances directly. Just because they're charging a corporation and not an individual doesn't make it ethically or morally ok to go behind a patient's back. I am so glad I went with my gut and decided to go with another provider. This office is super shady and untrustworthy. They may seem sickly sweet & nice while they are trying to reel you in, but that can very quickly turn when they know that you're on to their facade of corrupt ethical practices. Moral of the story, shop around for the provider you're most comfortable with and don't get pressured by anyone!!!

I used to be super fearful of the dentist because of trauma from when I was a child; I wouldn't even be able to sit still while getting my teeth cleaned because I would be so nervous of anything even touching my teeth! The office is stunning and the staff is awesome. I recently got my cleaning done by Mandy and she did such a great job. My teeth feel so nice and clean and it didn't hurt at all. I had stains on my teeth from drinking so much green tea and matcha and she was able to remove all the stains without having to do any bleaching. I'm still in awe of how white and stain-free my teeth are. She did this quick and painless procedure called "sand-blasting" to help get rid of the stains. Her assistant Jessica was really nice and gentle as well. I highly recommend coming here if you are looking for a new dental home!

From the moment you walk in, Amy and Shelby at the front desk make everything so easy and welcoming -- whether it's scheduling appointments or navigating payments, they're always so friendly and helpful. My very first visit here was such a game changer. They make you feel completely comfortable with blankets, iPads, and even letting me watch my favorite reality TV shows while getting work done -- something I never thought I'd actually look forward to at the dentist! The amazing team of Bre, Cat, Alejandra, and Chica has kept my teeth healthy, straight, and sparkling clean. They also helped me through clear aligners, fixing teeth that had shifted since braces, and I couldn't be happier with the results. All of this is under the guidance and expertise of my Dentist, Dr. Aramoon, who is lovely. She has transformed my smile in and has given me so much confidence. So far, I've had aligners, cleanings (both regular and deep), and bonding done here -- and in the future I'm even considering veneers with them because I know I'd be in the best hands. After the trauma, I had a big black triangle near my front teeth and incisors. Every periodontist from Dr. Pasquinelli in SF to a famous one in NYC said it's impossible to fix the papilla. It's one of the hardest thing to do as a periodontist. Then I found Dr. Nordland's website and flew in for a consultation. He said he could do it. I was skeptical at first.
