I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Roadrunners. Let's start with the good. They are cheap.......damn cheap! I mean to this company the after 11pm extra tariff idea just doesn't exist. I have traveled between Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath many times after visiting mates for the evening and had enough change from a tenner to go buy some food. Factor in a shared taxi and it can become cheaper to use Roadrunners than the train. Sadly, now the bad. They can be somewhat unreliable on arriving. Even when you call the depot and are assured "it's on the way. Won't be more than 10 minutes", you can end up in a battle of wills to call someone else or get the taxi you have ordered. The thing is that it's a game of chance. I would say they are about 65% on time to 35% on safari. I guess the saying 'you get what you pay for' is relevant here. I probably wouldn't use Roadrunners if I had a plane to catch or a pre ordered taxi for a late pick up in Brighton, but for nipping across Haywards or a trip to the next town they would still get my custom. Late Every time I've used them from my Fathers local address. Final straw, Over 30 minutes late and I missed my train, despite booking the car 1 hour before pick-up. Driver was subsequently messing around with Sat Nav and nearly put us in a ditch. I stated emphatically to confirm the pick-up time when I didn't get the usual text message saying the driver was on his way, 2 mins before the booked pickup time, as usual and if they were going to be later than that tell me so I can make alternative arrangements. I got said text at pickup time. Every operator lied to me, saying cab was 2 minutes away. Had they been honest I could have walked to the station but their lies and ineptitude made me late. The final operator hung up on me when I explained they had screwed up and all I needed was the truth from the outset and I would have been fine. I spent 45 minutes waiting for the next hourly train home. I wont ever use them again for anything time critical. There are plenty of options. Use AroundMe on your iPhone. read more

I certainly will never be calling on them again! I ordered a taxi, which after an hour of waiting didn't turn up. In a low service area I struggled to contact them, and my call was answered by a rude operative, laughing that the man before didn't book it correctly, and even holding the phone away slightly (but still loud enough) to call me a "whiny b*tch" to her colleague. She then proceeded to ask, "Where from?" even after I had told her many times. After another 30 mins a taxi turned up, with a driver who was foreign and didn't understand much English or know the local area. (He used a satnav and I had to write down the postcode for him). He then proceeded to charge me £30 for a 7 min journey. I am now plied by texts from the company saying "Your vehicle is on it's way", three days after I used their 'service'. I have had to block them on my phone - they are an unhelpful, spiteful service who I'm surprised are allowed to continue running as a business. Never again,. and save yourselves the hassle - find ANY other taxi company. read more

When I used them a couple of months age, it didn't turn up on time so I called them & got told it would be with me in 10 minutes it turned up an hour later. Last night was a completely different story, We had them booked for 11 PM from a restaurant back to our home 15 miles away, we even had a text from them confirming our booking, Never turned up tried to call them several times, never answered the phone, at that time of night there were no other taxis available, eventually at midnight the restaurant owner very kindly offered to take us home, which we were very grateful for, otherwise we would have been walking, I will never recommend or use these people again( I don't know how companies like this stay in business. read more

There is no such thing as a 100% reliable, dependable and constantly available taxi company; but these peeps are as close as I've seen so far. Controllers that care, drivers that do go that extra bit for you all add to the mix. I recommend them. read more

Left 2 girls stranded at Haywards Heath train station at 4:45am. Waited for the booked taxi, never showed. Called up to see if it was on its way and apparently was waiting for us somewhere else across the road. Didn't see any car there. Person on the phone was very unhelpful and unpleasant to talk to. Extremely bad customer service. Wouldn't rebook for us. try to avoid using Roadrunners taxi service. read more

I called them for the first time, and also for the last time. Horrible Customer Service, I have never seen anything like this, EVER. The first lady receiving my call was nice and correct, and told me my taxi would take 15 minutes. My taxi driver NEVER made it to Gatwick's North Terminal, I waited for my taxi 20 minutes and then I decided to call again to check if everything was alright and there was no confusion about where I was getting picked up. The same nice lady answered my call again and informed me my taxi should be there at the moment, just then i was receiving a second call from my taxi driver with number 07474238268. I told this girl I was getting this call and said goodbye, then picked my taxi driver call. He told me he was in Atlantic House. I told him I was in Jubilee House, and that Atlantic House is a whole different terminal. He got quiet and asked me if I could go there. I couldnt believe it, after working the whole day and waiting like 20-25 minutes to get a taxi home I was getting asked to go to the South Terminal and then make my way to Atlantic House. With all my respect I told my taxi driver I was in the North Terminal, at Jubilee House, and I had ordered to taxi to pick me up exactly there. He then asked me if a taxi could pick up people there, so I answered that indeed it can. Between 10 and 15 minutes my taxi hadnt arrived, I decided to call again to the call centre. This time a man answered my call, it was around 1:30 pm. I told him what was happening and that I was still waiting for my taxi, then he told me my taxi was already in the airport, so again I told him I was in the North terminal, at Jubilee House, which is the place I ordered my taxi to, and that the taxi driver never made it there. The he repeated the taxi was in the airport, and I explained myself again telling him there are two different terminals and I was in the North Terminal at Jubilee House meanwhile my taxi driver was at Atlantic House in the South Terminal. This person just hung up the call, leaving me extremely frustrated, astonished, unable to understand why did he hung up when I was being polite in every moment. I tried to call the taxi driver, but he never got my call. So finally, after loosing more than 40 minutes I decided to make my way to the South Terminal and wait for the next train, something I really wanted to avoid since I was really exhausted. So Thanks to Roadrunners I arrived to my home 1:40 minutes after I was suposed to, absolutely upset and frustrated and unable to sleep for the next few hours due to this. Its absolutely unacceptable, I cant believe the consumers Unions are not working against this NO SCRUBS Taxi company. read more

Booked a week in advance to get an elderly relative to her Granddaughter's wedding. They showed up 30 + minutes late - and that was reluctantly, after chasing them 4 times. Driver was nice enough but the other staff didn't care. When complaining, I was informed that advance bookings aren't prioritised over last minute calls (!). The manager later promised to call me back but didn't even follow through on this. Avoid. read more

These guys are fab. Use the for getting from Gatwick to Worthing every time I fly. Always there when the flight arrives, and I've only ever come across 1 grumpy driver. Coupled with no waiting charges and low fares they are the best at Gatwick. read more

it was NYE and I had booked a taxi three days prior for 16 people and it was a very reasonable price and it was ordered for 1 AM, we were at the end of the drive where it was ordered to 5 mins early just to be doubly sure and then sat around waiting for 35 minutes, in this time I repeatedly called their office to make sure everything was still ok, but to no avail, not even on the f***ing phones on their bussiest night of the year!! ended up having to walk for near enough to three hours to get home with lots of people who could barely stand, let alone walk along busy roads. not happy at all will never use again even if it does cost me extra!! read more

Booked a taxi ahead of time to be collected from West Chiltington to Warninglid only to be called at the event I was attending telling me that they weren't sending me a car because it was out of their area. This left me stranded in the middle of no where with no way to get home. Very unimpressed with this service. read more

the one and only good point about this company is the price,cheap but certainly not cheerful,useless but certainly not useful and worse than southern trains in respect of reliability.iv,e had one taxi turn up on time and 3 or 4 late[very late] taxis,bad enough but have also had two that have not turned up at all,no answer when you ring the office and as a result have had to walk 6 miles home at one in the morning as phone ran out of battery.one more comment of note is the last one i booked that did turn up{half hour late]the driver could barely speak english and was asking me for directions.seriously worth avoiding this company and paying a bit extra for a taxi that will actually turn up and do what its supposed to do. read more

I couldn't agree more with the previous post. We thought we'd use Roadrunners as it was showing from Haywards Heath and we wanted to go from Brighton to a small village called Newick. I spoke with them the night before and told them all the details of our trip and got all the costs, and then reviewed that all again when we booked in the morning. However, when they came to fetch us in the morning, he couldn't find us! He kept telling us to come find him at a different location, which was very difficult to understand! He didn't even know the name of Brighton's famous landmark the Brighton Pavilion. It took us 15 minutes of us walking around to find him. He then didn't apologize but criticized us for not following his instructions to find him!! He also didn't know our travel plans and thought we were only going the one way. He then started to argue more with us about the cost of the trip, and the stops we were making - it was obvious he was trying to get more money out of us. He made what should have been a lovely outing, a very unpleasant experience. He was constantly rude and argumentative. He also could not find where we needed to be dropped off in Brighton afterwards so again we had to walk - he had the nerve to tell us that walking was good for us! The only reason we actually got to the places we wanted to go to was because we directed him. Because the trip was a flat fee, he also took unnecessary risks with overtaking and going too fast. I will never book with roadrunners again. I have no invested interest in any taxi service. And don't usually write any reviews, but this awful experience with roadrunners (and he said he was sent out of Crawley) has made me write. read more
