The service was thorough and efficient, and everything was left clean and tidy afterward. It's reassuring to know my furnace is in good shape for the season. Would definitely use their service again.

We have our lights, various appliances, and other smart home devices already hooked up to Alexa, but I could NEVER get a smart thermostat installed and working properly. I was unsuccessful at installing one myself, my old heating & cooling guys couldn't get one working, and an electrician we hired couldn't get one working. I was told that something was wrong with the configuration in our furnace's wiring, or alternatively, the smart thermostat we purchased was a lemon. I had to settle for running up and down the stairs, flicking the heat controller back and forth between "heat" and "cool" manually, depending on whether I needed the furnace or the central air conditioning. With the constant wild swings in Edmonton's temperature all throughout the Spring, it was a major pain to keep resetting the thermostat manually when the rest of our smart home was so automated. Recently, when our old thermostat started wearing out and malfunctioning, I thought I'd give the installation of a smart thermostat another shot. I carefully researched the reviews, and saw that Trust Home Comfort came highly recommended. They seemed to have a lot of experience in upgrading old-style thermostats to electronic smart home systems. I'm happy to report that I was not disappointed! My first discussions with Van were great. He understood exactly what we wanted, he sympathised at my frustrations with our previous attempts to convert to a smart thermostat, and he assured me that Trust Home Comfort could solve the problem. He promised to send his best, most experienced installer (Kang). I got an appointment immediately for two days from the day of booking, which was enough time to get the thermostat brand and model he suggested (ecobee), after I asked him for his recommendation. Amazon supplied the thermostat through next-day delivery through ecobee's Amazon store, and the installer showed up the very next day after, on-time-to-the-minute of the booking we made, to install the device. (I should also mention that Trust Home Comfort has a sophisticated computerised appointment booking and billing system, so reminders are sent out via email in a timely way before the appointment, and billing is detailed and easy-to-pay online). To make a long story short, Kang was able to immediately identify the simple wiring problem that hexed us all these years, preventing us from installing a smart thermostat sooner. At one stage years ago, our humidistat control was moved to the furnace room by our old heating and cooling guy, and the wiring of the old humidistat left behind from the old location was confused with one of the power wires needed to power-up a smart thermostat. The correct wire was quickly relocated by Trust Home Comfort's technician, and the smart thermostat was up and running in no time! The old manual thermostat worked because it didn't need external power, but when previous heating companies and electricians tried to hook up a smart thermostat to the (dead) "power wire", it naturally couldn't power-up because the old humidistat wire, although the same colour as the correct external power wire, wasn't powered. Trust Home Comfort figured out what the problem was, and fixed the problem immediately. Their experience and ability to troubleshoot problems quickly proved they were a sound choice to install our new smart thermostat. The billing was detailed, fast and very reasonable. They did exactly what they promised to do, and today the smart thermostat is working EXACTLY as it should. Their technician was experienced, and set everything up exactly as we wanted. What more could I have ask for? I can't recommend Trust Home Comfort enough! Needless to say, they are our new, permanent service provider when it comes to any home heating or cooling solutions.

This review is not written out of frustration, but to help other homeowners understand the…read moreimportance of confirming inspections and reviewing venting whenever gas appliances are installed or modified. The City has advised us to file a formal consumer complaint regarding the unsafe and non-compliant conditions Always Plumbing left at our property. We don't expect perfection - we understand that mistakes can happen, and when they're minor, they're completely understandable. As tradespeople ourselves, we know how complex projects can be and remain willing to work collaboratively with others in the industry. However, when major mistakes occur that compromise safety, accountability and full resolution at the company's expense is the only fair and appropriate outcome. In October 2024, my husband and I hired Always Plumbing & Heating in Edmonton to install a garage heater. During the estimate, my husband explained to them that a previous home inspection had flagged a gas leak in the system. Regardless, the estimator stated the price would be lower than usual because the existing venting and piping could be reused. In September 2025, while reviewing the installation, I discovered that the reused B-vent in the garage attic was severely corroded, joined with duct tape, and not properly sealed at the roof flashing. The installation also lacked high-altitude derating, and the appliance connection was damaged due to the use of over-length screws compromising the gas-tight seal. I reported these findings to Always Plumbing on September 16, 2025. After several emails, the company confirmed it had pulled the permit for the job, which was still open and required inspection. This was the first time we were informed that homeowners were responsible for booking the inspection with the City. To resolve the matter fairly, I proposed that we cover the cost of new materials while Always Plumbing provided the labour at no charge, since the permit was already active and no additional cost to them would be incurred. Operations Manager Rob Shaw declined, initially offering a free furnace inspection instead. When I refused, he said he would "work out a great discount." and make sure "the best" guys would complete the remaining work. The estimate provided was $1,000 (including a $150 discount). For comparison, Weiss Johnson Mechanical gave us a verbal estimate of $1,000, which included the cost of pulling a new permit. This confirmed that Always Plumbing's "discount" offer was equivalent to the regular market rate. Following this, I contacted the City of Edmonton and requested a formal inspection under Always Plumbing's existing permit. The inspection failed, citing the following deficiencies (see attached report): - Rusted and disconnected B-vent requiring full replacement. - Damage to vent connection from screws. - Appliance not derated for altitude. The City inspector noted that these deficiencies should have been identified and corrected by the contractor at the time of installation. After receiving the inspection report, we requested that Always Plumbing correct the work at no cost, given that the issues were present and visible from the start. Instead, an employee emailed us accusing us of being "rude" and "trying to get something for free." Considering the verified safety deficiencies and the company's stated commitment to customer trust and workmanship, this response was disappointing. The General Manager, Lindsay Tait, responded professionally, and we had hoped to work with her toward a resolution; however, as of mid-October 2025, we have not received any written path forward or resolution.

The technician arrived on time, was courteous, professional and seemed to be competent. After about 30-45 minutes he told us that we needed to replace the heat pump and that it could not be repaired. We paid the service fee of about $200 and asked that they send out someone who could give us a estimate to replace the heat pump. 2 days later another technician came out, and gave us an estimate. Again, he was on time, courteous, professional and friendly. I mentioned the need to replace the heat pump to a friend who lives in our building. He mentioned another company and so we called them to get an estimate on replace the heat pump. They came out, and looked at it, asked some questions, did some maintenance and the heat pump is working! No replacement needed! Getting this 2nd opinion saved us literally thousands of $. We are so grateful for the other company and will probably not call Acclaimed! again for a repair - since either their technicians are not competent, or they tried to sell us something we didn't need. After I posted this review, the owner of the company apologized for the misdiagnosis and offered to refund the initial service fee. He was very polite, listening and we had a good conversation. He handled this with grace and so much better than other owners. I'll raise my rating to a 2 from a 1 because of this call. It was appreciated.
