We've been coming to Polmanter for the last 12 years. It's simply the best camping and caravanning…read moresite in Cornwall in our opinion and we have been to quite a few. It's very family friendly and they warmly accommodate dog owners too. It's not the cheapest, but you will get what you have paid for here. Each pitch is enclosed by mature hedgerows and stone walls which give a degree of privacy. Many pitches are fully serviced with electricity, water and drainage. We prefer the cheaper grass pitches but you may like their hard pitches too. The club house has a 7 day programme of entertainment but with hourly buses directly into St Ives, we preferred to wander further afield at night although we did enjoy a couple of nights on site. The two adventure playgrounds and the pool kept our little one busy for most of the time during the day. The most striking thing about the site is the standards of cleanliness and tidiness. We always had pleasant neighbours here and there is a very relaxed and friendly feel to the site in general, including the staff in the shop and the reception. I think the site is family owned, and they definitely take pride in there establishment. One particular improvement we noticed this year was the quality of the food served in the clubhouse. It appears to be under a new management which has revamped the old burger and chips menu into something more fitting for the 21st century caravaner. I had the steak pie with a jacket potato and well dressed salad the first night and home made pizza the second time. All of our party commented that the quality was better than most of the more commercial restaurants in town. Crucially, the price of the meals was still very good value. This site is consistently full from word of mouth recommendations and it's not hard to understand why. Expect to have to book your pitch at least 12 months in advance. We will be booking next years pitch before we leave. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for a week last August and had a really nice holiday…read more The park is near Halsetown and is fairly easy to get to with a touring van with no scary single file roads to worry about. It's a good spot to visit the far South of Cornwall - Lands End, St Ives, Penzance etc. As you come in there is a field on the left where you can park up if you have arrived early or pay a little extra, like we did, to leave it there on departure day if you fancied leaving later. On the other side of the road is a large field for football, kites etc. From this point there is a regular bus run down into St Ives and a footpath that leads to St Ives which will take you about 40 minutes but is a nice walk. The park itself is quite large with alot of pitches and amenities. There is a club house with evening entertainment, arcade, play area, pitch and putt course and a well stocked shop. Where we were pitched we had a perfect view of the sea, however we got an awful lot of wind blowing in from the sea so take a rope to keep your awning from flying away. Nice surroundings, clean park, friendly staff. All you need for a relaxing holiday.
