Looking north at the Riverside Hotel.

I was staying at the Aquarius and going to the Riverside for dinner. Rather than drive the short distance, I strolled the riverwalk that runs along the river past most of the hotels that are located on the east side of Casino Drive. It's quite nice to stand at the railing and watch the jet skiers go by or the water taxis. The summer would not be a good time to do much walking here because of the temperatures. On my first visit to Laughlin many years ago, the official high temperature was 124 degrees. Also, since the temperatures are cooling down, the insects are back and they were quite annoying on my walk back to the Aquarius. It seems like dusk is the time they enjoy most. Going along the riverwalk in winter is the best time. You may not see many people enjoying the river, but standing and watching the river go by is a relaxing things.

I always ask for a room at the Pioneer to be along the river walk you can walk from casino to casino on the river walk. Lots to see years ago I would see raccoon and skunks but I haven't seen any probably because the city is slow because of the virus. Best time to walk is at dusk or dawn

The river walk was nice being able to walk along the casinos and the water watching the boats and jet skis go by. The only thing is. The walk way doesn't go all the way through. I was walking from Riverside casino to the Golden Nugget and got cut off at the Colorado Belle casino because they were shutdown. It was all gated. So I had to go up from there to the main road/side walk. And go from there.

This place is pretty nice. It's a great way to see a lot of different casinos and it's super pretty at sunset. Can't beat free. There are some restaurants along the river but I like just walking back and forth and enjoying the view. When I went there was a large current and it was fun to watch the ducks try to swim against it. We also saw some raccoons in the middle of the night climbing trees for oranges. That was wild. Don't feed them though, but they are cute to marvel from afar. I only walked along the part between Riverside and Colorado Belle but I guess it goes farther? Either way, this is definitely a nice addition and something else to do other than lose your money gambling.

My third time here. On Jan 14th, my bf, a couple of friends and I strolled down the beautiful Riverwalk. The walk is from one end to the other about a mile and a half or so. Research shows that it maybe 3 miles so I'm not sure. You can stop at each casino along the way. On the river walk are the Riverside, Colorado Belle, River Palms, Aquarius, Golden Nugget, Edgewater and the Pioneer. Nighttime is beautiful with the casino lights and day time you can see the river clearly with some wildlife. There are several boats tours and water taxis. If you do not feel like walking from casino to casino, you can take a shuttle boat. You can also take a shuttle boat from the Arizona side. It's a pleasant place to walk, relax and enjoy the Colorado River.

For the last 5 years, I have heard bizarre stories from people who have walked down the RIVERWALK after midnight. I always thought those stories were exaggerated, but then I came here in August with friends and experienced one bizarre incident after another, and even saw some guys junk from a balcony. All I can say about the RIVERWALK is that meth is one f*cking hell of a drug, and skunks are very difficult to outrun. Remember that in Laughlin you live every second of the night, and walking down the riverwalk is like the events from some 1980s dark comedy. Don't walk down this trail during August after midnight. It's skunk mating season or something. 100s of skunks come out and spray each other for no apparent reason. A giant cloud of toxic skunk juice ascends up from the beach to the Riverwalk. To make things worse, when you get to where the Aquarius is, skunks quickly jump out of the bushes and ambush the f*ck out of you. There is no f*cking way to avoid this. Though during my last trip I witnessed a very large raccoon battling a skunk and a pissed off mallard duck. I'm not kidding, this f*cking happened! Back in 2005, the Riverwalk was way different. During the summer it was overpacked with girls in bikinis. The Riverwalk was busier than Fremont Street in Downtown LV. It was the place to be back in those days. I came back in 2013, and the chicks in bikinis were gone. Riverwalk looked more like a UYE for Las Vegas yelpers, I almost puked. The worst thing is that if you run into one weirdo on the Riverwalk, you end up running into him again all night long, and several more times throughout the week. The best thing about the Riverwalk is that you won't ever run into another yelper. Nobody ever walks to the very end of the Riverwalk, but it leads you to a public park and a 6 mile trail to the dam. If your rascal scooter runs out of batteries you can push it into the river, and pay the Water Taxi guy $5.00 to bring you all the way to Harrah's Laughlin. Now that's a great deal!!! If a cop cites you for pushing your scooter into the river, just say that you are a member of one of the Native-American tribes from across the river and you were giving the scooter back to the earth. Just kidding...there are no cops on the Riverwalk. Thank you Drew and Victoria for putting on this event.

Hubby just bought a new 4WD car and wanted to go off roading, and the drive through Christmas Tree…read morePass came recommended as an easy one for beginners. I'd agree with that assessment. I would say anyone with a 4WD vehicle could easily handle the well-manicured dirt roads. The drive took us about 45 minutes with LOTS of stops to take photos, walk around, and enjoy the desert landscapes. It was very peaceful and quiet, and we only passed one other vehicle the entire time we were driving! It's free, clean, and fun, and you can't ask for more than that! The landscape is (obviously) dry desert, with pretty rocks and flora and fauna. We saw plenty of lizards, birds, chipmunk looking things, and a couple of snakes, so be alert and respect the wildlife! Don't pick anything and don't harrass anything. We drove in early July, when the temperatures were over 110. We brought plenty of water "just in case," and there are several areas where you can wander off on foot (but again, watch for snakes)! I was impressed with how clean it was along the Pass, I did not see one piece of trash anywhere! The roads are graded but the sand gets a bit deep in a few places, where we slid a little while driving. It was fun because the road is very wide with plenty of room. At one end of the Pass, there's an area with well preserved petroglyphs. It does require a bit of a hike which isn't that far distance-wise, but it's in deep sand that's difficult to walk through (especially when the temps are high). I made it maybe a third of the way and turned back. I'll try again in the fall or winter. There's a hole-in-the-ground toilet facility by the petroglyphs if you need it. I am not outdoorsy in the least, but I had a really fun time riding along on this drive. If you're traveling between Las Vegas and Laughlin, it's a fun little "cut through" to get through the desert. Highly recommended.

We should've stopped to see the petroglyphs, that would've been the highlight on this frustrating journey. The park has improved since our first visit about 3 summers ago. We come here at least once and we all enjoy it, we get there early morning and leave right before closing. I may add, if you go during the summer, you MUST wear sun protection and bring lots of water, the heat is no joke. The water is really cold which is refreshing on a hot summer day. The staff is very friendly and informative, also very helpful!! My tent blew away during a little windy moment and they helped me bring it back while also providing tips to prevent it from happening again. In the past, we had to get there before the park opened to secure a spot and once capacity was met they didn't allow anyone to enter. This was tough since there were a couple times we didn't make it on time and had to go elsewhere. Now, things have changed, which is a lot more convenient. They only allow the people that have reserved online go in from 7am-11:30am. If you DO NOT have reservations, you will NOT be allowed in before 11:30. At 11:30 they will only allow you in if they haven't reached capacity and it's first come first serve. If you did RSVP and make it after 11:30am, you risk losing your spot since general people will be allowed in at that time.

Renting a boat online is quick and easy, and they occasionally offer discount codes, which is a nice bonus. The staff is always pleasant, helpful, and genuinely seems to enjoy their work, which makes the whole process even better. We usually rent a patio boat since it comfortably holds up to 10 people. They're easy to drive, great on gas mileage, and the fuel cost has never been unreasonable. (I'd recommend skipping the prepaid fuel option--it usually works out cheaper that way.) Another perk is that dogs are allowed on the patio boats! Just note that medium and large dogs count toward the passenger total, so it's a good idea to double-check when making your reservation. Two things to keep in mind: (1) During the fall season, all boat rentals need to be returned by 3:00 PM. (2) It costs $25 to get into the park. If you're planning on coming 2 or more times within a year, I'd recommend getting the Park Pass for $45. Overall, Katherine's Landing is a reliable and fun spot for boat rentals, and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a great day out on the lake!

Then at the end of the float we waited in the hot 112 degree heat 3 plus hrs in the looonnngg shuttle line to get back to the casino. Our stuff got stolen from the below luggage area. So in 2016 & 2018 we dropped off one of the cars at Rotary Park (end of the river float) so we didn't have to take the shuttle back. Previous years we stayed at the Trop. We waited 15 plus minutes just to get into the casino elevator to go down to ground floor. 2018 we stayed at Harrahs and at 8 am we had no problem getting down. Previous years you could leave your floats at Davis Camp and pick them up in the morning. I don't think they offered it this year in 2018. It was unorganized in previous years. I saw some floats get stolen from the storage area and then others that didn't have their name written on their float and matching id so they couldn't get their float. Anyways we started bringing our own battery operated air pump after our first year. So 2018 the price jumps to $70 per person to float. T-shirts are $15. We don't use their shuttles, nor air pumps, or eat their "free" hot dog. So we think we have worked out all the kinks from previous years experiences but you can't ever plan for a coast guard flying on a jet ski driving full speed towards me then at the last second turning feet away from my float all to splash me and my dry valuables. Water actually shot up my nose! My float has a center storage compartment. All our dry valuables were nice and dry in in plastic baggie. But baggies aren't water proof when covered with water. My bf's iPhone 8 Plus was water damaged thanks to the coast guard on the jet ski. He even turned back to laugh. I got a little satisfaction giving him the bird. There are several people that complain and blame the floaters for all the trash but if the coast guards on the jet skis weren't zooming by so fast and so close to our floats causing some floats to over turn and/or everything to wash out we wouldn't have so much trash. My trash and any others' trash that I could reach has always been disposed of properly. Parking is now $30 per car but you can't drive back thru at the end of your float to pick up ur parked car. They make you drop off one person that has to wait in the hot heat for 20 mins for a golf cart to give them a ride from the parking entrance to their parked car then drive out to the street and back around to the entrance to pick up the rest of our party.
