Campsites vary in size for large rigs and small. Apparently tent camping without an RV was being permitted in what we thought were RV spots. Not a problem for us, but usually tent camping areas are separate from RV camping areas. There really isn't a place for kids to play except in the main rv parking area, so sometimes toys (balls, etc) get thrown and roll under the RV's and sometimes hit the units. Sort of bothersome when balls hit the RV. But the kids have no other place to play in the small park.

The campground is a small boutique rv park with perhaps only 18-20 rv sites, all with full-hookups. However, it has a gorgeous and friendly courteous staff and nice facilities . This is a nice quiet park on a hillside with several tiered levels. You look out way across the highway into tall evergreen trees. The staff are very professional and friendly. They worked with us on schedule changes. They helped us park our unit. We really like this place and will be back again. Normally, when we are first time in an area and RV park, at some point we cruise through the other RV parks to see if we might find one we like for our next time in the area. Not here. We like this park and the owners so much, we have not driven through any of the MANY campgrounds in Ruidoso. We will definitely return for at least a month (escaping the Texas heat). To keep it simple, I will ditto all the positive comments about Slow Play. The few negative comments occurred during the previous owner. This young couple have owned Slow Play for a couple of years (?) and actually run the place and are present "all the time". We are on a two month moho trip and selected Ruidoso as our last stop before heading home to central Texas. We had never been to Ruidoso, so we decided to stay two weeks and get to know the area, plus not traveling over the Labor Day weekend. I'm glad we did. I could actually stay longer, but time to get home. Other reviews mention that some campsites have permanent rigs/residents. This is a separate area and well maintained. The occupants are actually friendly; they wave and speak as we walk our dog. During our stay, the owners threw a get together for all the campers. Unfortunately, we were unable to attend. I have nothing negative to say. I really don't have any recommendations for improvement. The only better campground I have stayed in was the resorts that charge 100 plus a day; we were full-timers for 10 years and have stayed in a LOT of campgrounds and resorts (be careful of the term "resort").

We were told that elk and turkeys visit the property, too, but we slept in most days and missed their early morning visits. There is a creek that travels along the back of the park that pools into a pond where visitors can go fishing (catch and release). There is plenty of space to walk around or for the kids to ride their bikes. We can't wait to go back!

Free cable and WiFi. 2 pavilion patios with gas bbq pits free to use. Each site has their own picnic table. In the center is a nice shady place to sit and watch the birds. Park host will help you back in if needed. Brochures of things to do in office. Close to all attractions and restaurants. Free live entertainment occasionally provided. There is always blooming flowers in season throughout, several large bear sculptures with chances to see wildlife.

Well where do start, we have stayed there a few times with no problems, but this last time was a…read moretotal turn around. We called in advance and booked 3 nights, arrived on Friday 6-20-2025. We have a 33 foot motor home in perfect condition. We checked in around 3 pm and all was fine. We didn't park but would return to set up at around 7 pm. My daughter, son in law and their 3 kids where with us in the motor home & we had no tow vehicle. The guy from the counter soon arrived at our spot and asked if we were OK. We told him yes & he then said ( again ) that the price was for only 2 people, I told him we understood and the kids were staying right down the road at the Ruidoso Inn. He looked at me like I was lying! anyway it gets worse! The Uber arrived at 10 pm and took the kids to the Hotel and I secured the area and hooked up the water, but there was no water so we had no water to the home. In the morning we unhooked and were leaving to pick up the kids but stopped at the front office to tell them about the water situation, and they promptly through it in my face and said why didn't I check the hydrant which I had no clue what the f... he was talking about! I don't work there! He started to blame the problem on me, then said that we had all the family staying with us which really upset me. Then some old lady that was sitting in the corner started blaming the problem on my RIG which is total BS. So, I was so upset and left we picked up the kids and had a great time in Ruidoso. But we had to return in the evening to turn in for the night. We drove up the hill and that guy from the office was in his golf cart and flagged us down, I told my wife to talk to him because I couldn't anymore! He told my wife we would have to move because there wasn't any water ( DUH ) thats what I told him!! She asked if we could have the spot next door as there was no one there. He said we would have to go back down to the office to re-do the reservations, made no sense. I sucked it in and we went back down the hill. My wife and daughter went to the office but he meet them out front. Next thing I know he was waving his arms frantically like he was on fire and started to yell and headed toward our RV. I then got out and met him half way, it was a big pissing match!! he said my wife told him I was really unhappy, I told him yes I was because he again said we had the whole family staying even after showing him the receipt from Ruidoso Inn. He then told me to leave and i I said fine just give me my money back! He yelled there are no refunds! I told him I wasn't leaving and give us a spot he again said no your upset and have to leave. That's when I lost it and said so I'm very upset but I'm staying because I already paid he again said no refunds, then another guy should and said if he gave me my money back if I would leave. I said that's all I want. He started to walk toward the office, when the same old lady should up in the back of a golf cart yelling at us and recorded us arguing. She then said that the guy driving the golf cart was a judge ( SO WHAT ) Didn't know if I should start dancing so he could judge me. Anyway they were at fault with the water problem, but like some of the other reviews I read the other people were treated the same way. The other guy showed up with my refund and we left. We went a little way down the street and saw a nice RV park Ruidoso Village RV park so we called the number and a very nice lady answered and said she had one opening that we could have so we took it for the remaining 2 nights, the best moved we could have done. I really think they are burnt out sitting in that little office and just looking at the walls all day!! I would have left a DOUBLE 0 if I could have. NEVER AGAIN AT THAT TWIN SPRUCE PARK
