I think it's fair to say that most people wouldn't think of Farmington, New Mexico as a golf…read moredestination. However, the staff at Piñon Hills are doing everything they can to change that. The Ken Dye design is truly epic as it winds around cliffs and over gulchs that are ready to swallow your sleeve of featheries. I think a bit more difficult than your average muni and just as good of a deal make this course a great way to spend one of your vacation days. Mesa Verde National Park and Durango, Colorado are just a short drive from here giving you plenty of things to do while you're in town. The place is in need of a renovation, it's old and looks like a scene of That 70's Show. The furniture is newer and very comfortable, I wanted to take a nap but I needed to stay awake for my business meeting. The staff really isn't too friendly and they keep to themselves. I looked around and see a lot of golfing memorabilia. There is a bar and a restaurant plus a swimming pool that's drained. The food was decent and the server made sure that we never ran out of snacks and drinks. In my humble opinion, this place reminds me of a place where retired good ole boys hang out and look down at the help....that's just my opinion and I hope that I'm wrong about that.

The tee boxes had no marking, no grass, and no clear direction of which way the hole was going. I'd give this a 1/2 star if I could. The price for 9 holes was 18 bucks which should have been 5 bucks I can't imagine what the price would have been if it was 18 holes. The only good part was that the back nine was closed and we did ent have to play on.
