Specialties
I am an individual, couple and family therapist. Issues typically addressed in my practice are trauma, depression, anxiety, adjustment problems, emotional regulation, and relationship issues. I have received extensive training, and am continuing my training process in the use of the following modalities: TF-CBT, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing; and EFT, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Play Therapy which addresses the specific developmental needs of young children.
TF-CBT is an well-supported, evidenced based approach when working with those who have experienced trauma. EMDR is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EFT is a structured approach to couples therapy.
My office is very conveniently located in downtown Chattanooga. Hours of operation have been created around a working person's schedule. I have appointment times each evening
History
Established in 2013.
I am relatively new to the Chattanooga area, however, when I established my practice here this year, I knew that I had chosen the right place. The people here remind me very much of the North Carolinians I had been used to for so long. My client list is growing as I gain the trust of people here in the scenic city.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider designation. I am licensed in both North Carolina (LPC #7452) and Tennessee (LPC/MHSP #2864).I am certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). I am a member of the Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Honor Society, The American Counseling Association, and The Smokey Mountain Counseling Association.
Psychotherapy is a second career for me as I taught in the NC public school system for 30 years before beginning part-time graduate studies in Mental Health Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I graduated in 2008 and was immediately hired at United Family Services, which had been my internship site for the year preceding graduation. I worked as a generalist there from 2008 - 2011. I enjoyed a diverse client base while there. I worked with ages 3 and up in individual and family settings. I also worked extensively with individuals of all ages, couples, families and groups.
