The trail was paved but not always the same width. Some parts were narrower than others. I saw warning signs for the cyclists to give room for pedestrians. Oh, the restroom is on the right side of parking lot. There were many parking spots. Lucky us, we came here at sunset hour on a windy day. Not many park goers there. I would love to return on a sunny day in the summer.

There are many trails to venture off to with such great scenery. We walked across bridges and up a deck to see the magnificent river. It was definitely breathtaking. You wouldn't think this was there. They also had different gardens and like a lagoon with the birds and turtles. Plenty of seating areas. Great for a large group, camps, or field trip. We will definitely be back to explore more.

This stop on the highway between Palacios and Bay City did just the trick. For only $5, our family had use of the park for the afternoon, and an additional fiver gave us an hour of golf cart use. That's pretty cheap entertainment for a carload of people (maybe 4 adults and 1 kid or some combination thereof). Our 3 year old was most impressed with the motoring aspect of the outing. As our visit fell at high noon at the end of August, there was little chance of seeing much wild beasts (like smart members of the circle of life, they all had the good sense to hide and take naps about this time). We did get to chase butterflies and see lots of beautiful flowers, but alas, no gators or birds were sighted. We also were able to pass by ponds, streams, the Colorado River, and check-out some turtles and minnows. After about 45 minutes, we'd traveled every trail at least once and our boy was ready to go. The nice lady at the ranger stand told us early morning is the best time for viewing the critters, and we'll plan that for next time we're in the area.

It is the county seat of Matagorda County and it has a population census of 17,509 since 2013. If you've ever been to Nederland Texas then you might feel like this is a good copy of that town. Most of the stores here are surprisingly up to date but on a much smaller scale than your local larger city like Houston. There is however a newly renovated Walmart that I would say could be classified as a supercenter. Do not expect the Bay City Rollers to be performing here and also expect to see a few large buildings empty and/or closed down when you get out of the main streets that would make you feel that this is the downtown of Bay City.

Arriving at Seabourne Creek, I definitely hit the jackpot. There are beautiful paths to walk along with a nice little lake to fish. Birds, butterflies and everything more a entire preserve needs. The downfall is, me and my pup got there at noon when the sun was out strong. My boy couldn't be out long so we ended up staying for 40 mins just exploring. Kind of a bummer since it took an hour to get there. Definitely a great place to visit when the heat isn't a factor. I have to come back and visit during the morning hours.

We decided to visit during their Shark celebration event which was super cute for the kids but just a bit crowded. The building itself was a bit smaller than I imagined but still fun for the kids. It comes with a ton of slides, lots of sprinklers, it is great for kids of all sizes. The slides are big enough for adults as well. The parking lot is small but there is ample street parking. During the week it's not crowded but Saturday mornings it's packed. There is also a playground next to it with a dinosaur and car ride. This is my kids favorite play park.

They have two loops as well as a path that leads to another park, so with some repeats we were able to get a nine-mile run in. The park has very minimal tree coverage and shade, so I would avoid it on a hot, sunny day.

Then I run the entire trail which is about 2.58 miles around one time. Then I walk back to my car. The trail is gravel which is better for your feet, knees and hips opposed to concrete. You'll even catch a bunny or two eating a snack in the grass. Its peaceful for the most part. An area for the doggos to play and a playground for the kiddos. There are bathrooms to the left of the main parking lot.
