I've only been here for Altrusa meetings. It has always been good. I give four out of five stars because I'm vegetarian and they catered the meetings, all good food, but no vegetarian entree, despite there being several Altrusa members who are vegetarian. I went through many dinner meetings eating raw vegetables and sweet potato fries. read more

Was looking for a nice public course while on vacation to the Portland area. Called on a Tuesday and was squeezed in for a tee time. Steve at the pro shop was very accommodating and got me in with a couple. This was one of the nicest maintained municipal courses I've played in along time. The fairways and greens were in great shape, and the layout was challenging for this mid handicap player. IMO a fair price. read more

Course has a variation of par 4 and par 3 holes and a couple par 5s. Love the difficulty, scenery is great, and they are always on time with tee times. It's a little pricey, but it's golf. After you're done with 18 holes, I always always always grab a sub from the restaurant and a beer with the guys. It's a must. read more

A decent and well maintained public course featuring 27 holes and a reasonable daily rate. The course is not especially difficult yet it challenges the average golfer with its large greens. Hit the ball long and straight and you'll score well at Riverside. A lovely place to hit the links, which I highly recommend. read more

The course is a fun/easy layout and is usually maintained fairly well. The greens can get a little frayed with stuffing but overall the course is maintained well. The problem with the course is the staff. "Mike" in the pro shop is, to put it politely, a rude, dismissive, and unhelpful employee at best. He and the others routinely mock customers, are surly when asked basic questions (such as what tee times do you have in the morning), and generally dismiss any question about the course being randomly closed for a private event (which it is often) or getting on the course when the 1st tee is wide open with the re-frain " well we are busy." I have been playing this course for 8 years and will continue to occasionally play for its convenient location. That said, I rarely go to this course without some petty comment, demand, or outright derision from staff. I have mostly moved over to Nonesuch with zero complaints. If the problem were limited to "Mike" it may not be a big deal, but the overall un-friendliness and often down right rudeness of the staff is a huge turn off. The old guys who work at this course view it as a personal fiefdom and it shows. I was a member for 2 years and got tired of the casual rude and dismissive behavior of the staff. Its a shame, the course is fun and we'll located. The. Pro shop staff just treats everyone not in their group as an intruder. Bottom line, Nonesuch is similar price, is a better course, and treats its customers well. Go there and avoid the old boys club of Riverside. read more

Rudest old men front desk worker and starter. Very condescending and rushed us to tee off despite it not being our tee time for another 15 minutes. We come here often and their attitude made us never want to golf here again and made the experience much less enjoyable. read more

My husband and I play here 1-4 times a week. Usually play the north course but this time there weren't any tee times available so had to play the south course. Had a tee time with carts for 6:20. We arrived and there was nobody in the club house and then this rude man approached us and starts yelling at us "no carts" and tells us to take our bags off the cart. He says it's $10 because no carts. I reminded him that we booked a 6:20 with carts for $29 not $10. Not to mention we arrived at 6:10 yet he was nowhere to be found. Here we are 6:24 and he's was dead set on no carts. Worst customer service and extremely rude. read more

Course is a decent 27 hole track, but the course staff are TERRIBLE. Rude, entitled and don't seem to want the business. I've had several bad experiences. Had to call literally 15 times and explain my story to 4 different staff members to get a rain check due to a dead cart. Finally talked to manager and he was condescending and didn't give me what I had already been promised by a staff member. JOKE operation. read more

THEY DONT WANT ANY NEW CUSTOMERS. We made Reservations to play 18 holes and when we showed up to get our carts, course staff told us we should only play 9. They told us this was because there is a rough crew who runs a money game on the back 9 and wouldn't let us through because they think they own the place, but actually have no rights. So instead of the course addressing the issue with the "money game" guys, they decide to try and run off new customers after we've made reservations and paid?!?! Also, I told an employee that my wife wanted to come try their restaurant out one night and his exact words were "I wouldn't recommend that unless she likes a bunch of men sitting around talking s**t and drinking tons of booze; and there are way better places to eat here." Needless to say we did not play the back 9 and told the proshop about the money game that wasn't going to let us through, so they gave us "rain checks" for 9 holes even after we told them we were from out of town??? What sense does that make?!?! They don't want new customers, so don't give them any! read more

We were looking for a public course to play on a long weekend. We found Riverside. We played the 9 hole course because there was an event at the North course. The guy that answered the phone when I made the tee time was the same guy who we meet when we arrived! What a great guy to have checking in new players to your course! He was very pleasant and seemed to really like his job! More NH golf courses should hire people like him! The course was in great shape. We will be back again. I played Riverside back in June and enjoyed the round. The course was in solid shape, I was treated very well by the staff, and had a good golfing experience all around. Unfortunately, there were some slow players in front of my group so we ended up having a 5 hour round, not the end of the world. My friends and I used our CollegeGolfPass to save $19 dollars off the greens fee which always makes the the round a little sweeter! I will certainly come back and play Riverside, especially as the savings can be applied to every round. read more
