Just love this place for history, beauty, wildlife, monuments...great photo ops. Enjoy the History tours and especially the History Mystery Tours in October!!
This beautiful Prairie Cemetery is wonderful to see! Keeping in mind that there is NO irrigation and native grasses and the native Colorado wildflowers are in bloom right now. The mix of beautiful prairie wildflowers and the prairie grasses are a delight to see!
OH OH OH...and the Heritage Iris garden this year was AMAZING!!!! this year, can't wait for next year!
The wildlife including birds, foxes, wild turkeys, kestrels, Great Horned Owls and so many more are a delight to see and a great photo op as well!
Many of the monuments are well over 100 years old and are in great shape given their age! Others have not fared so well due to weather, vandals and even the irrigation (past) sprinklers have done damaged to these wonderful monuments!! The cemetery will never again be irrigated and will be returned to the native grasses of Colorado...don't let this deter you in any way...go visit!!
I had the opportunity to take one ofr the free summer tours at Riverside and really enjoyed my time there. The tour guides are informative and the volunteers onsite are always helpful!
If you have some time this summer check this place out, one of my favs! I hope you agree! read more
