Recent grad here! If you're like me and knew nothing going into bartending, there's no need to look elsewhere. After learning that the program here is the only one with actual hands-on training for speed and accuracy, it makes sense they have such a high success rate for their grads. It doesn't stop at hands-on training. They go over everything you need to know about safety and ethics. The most difficulty I had with the program was the memorization (it's a lifelong struggle of mine). Luckily, the staff here gave me a ton of tips and resources to help me commit all the recipes to memory and pass their final exams. The final, while it seems difficult at first, is really a testament to the success rate of graduates. Once I got it all down, I not only aced the finals, but now I am working as a bartender with confidence, accuracy, and efficiency. Both the instructors and other students are super nice and helpful, and the instructors really go above and beyond to make sure you know what you're doing behind the bar. Attended this school a little over a year ago. GREAT OVERALL EXPERIENCE. The curriculum can be completed at your own pace, and the instructors are more than willing to assist in any way they can. They helped with job placement IMMEDIATELY upon completion of the final exam. Made my money back in the first couple gigs they offered me. I ended up getting a job bartending at a casino shortly after and was more than prepared for the type of work I encountered. What can I say about National Bartending School in Riverside? Well first, these guys treat you like family. Coty and Kevin are very dear to me, and they are very invested in your future and success as a bartender. They are patient and teach you everything you need to know. I love that the lessons are go-at-your-own pace because everyone learns differently, and has different needs. By the end of your certification, you will know how to make 200 cocktails and so much more. I didn't feel like going to traditional route of being a bartender (like working at a restaurant and hoping to make your way up to bartender). When I had first looked up this school, I didn't know what to expect. I didn't even know there was such a thing as bartending school, but I decided to go check it out myself. When I had first walked up to the school, I found it to look very nice & the moment I walked in, I was helped immediately. The first instructor I had met, Lindsay, was extremely helpful. She had an answer for every single question I had & walked me through the school, showing me the ropes & informing me of everything I needed to know before signing up. There was no catch, no hidden fees, nothing that would come off as a little shady. After deciding to enroll that day, I realized how friendly & helpful everybody was, the atmosphere was very chill & I was encouraged to take my time throughout the course. The other instructor, Phil, was at first, VERY intimidating. After getting to know him & spending my days with him at the school, I realized he is actually a very sweet guy & extremely helpful. He had always helped me with anything I went to him for. I am now a graduate of the National Bartending School of Riverside. It only took me a total of 2 & a half weeks & I am still very happy with my decision of ever attending the school. Nate, the owner, is very friendly & gave me more useful knowledge than I ever imagined upon graduating & he has & STILL is very helpful. I signed up at the school at the end of January with a couple of friends and Kevin was amazing! I was able to finish the 100 hour course by Mid-March while working full time. I knew that I only wanted to work events and since finishing the program Coty and Kevin have been great at helping book gigs every weekend. At first when I started I had no idea how it worked and I was to shy to speak up so I studied the same lesson 1 for a month straight. Someone who was going there as well told me that I sign up on the paper at the bar and wait for whoever's practicing on the bar to be done. I asked Cody to show me what I do at the bar he taught me and showed me what to do and how to do it. I went up starting practicing pouring and making the drinks( not real alcohol). Everyone there is super nice, helpful, and flexible it is totally up to you when you want to finish. I've been lagging it but I practice the recipes at home so that way when I go in to the bar i can kick ass and move on with the next lesson. I like it here! read more

I Love this School! I graduated with my certificate in 2013, but I never did anything with it. So recently when I decided I finally wanted to jump into the Bar scene I went in and met with Cody & Kevin. They were both super helpful in getting me back up and training. All they do is hand you a huge list of drinks to learn & say you can practice here, big deal when the instructors are just there to act like they are all to "cool" No tips or decent advise from the staff then if you ever do get a job somewhere you still have to relearn all of the drinks the way the bar you get hired at likes. The work placement program is a joke it's just them handing you a list of business that are hiring even that is outdated. The owner try's to act like his school has a huge reputation & in reality no one has ever heard of them. The curriculum explains just about everything you can think of and some more that you wouldn't have. And now for what you're probably really most concerned about.... Finding a job! I'm rating the school based on the customer service skills of the staff member who answers the phone. (He is not the manager, who is very friendly) But an advice to management is to train your call handlers with a positive tone of voice and customer respect at all times. This guy, Travis? Austin? couldn't make out his name clearly, was so rude! Hung up on me, when I inquired about their class schedule. Didn't even take the time to put me on hold so he could verify what class was being taught. If the class schedule is not going to be posted online. the school should at least respond to student's inquires about the class schedule. I didn't pay tuition money, to be treated so rudely. I am also not a fan of wasting gas, driving all the way to the school to find out the the lesson for that day has been cancelled, changed, repeated... whatever. How archaic is the system to require students to drive all the way to the school just to pick up a paper handout schedule? This is the 21st century, age of email and internet, and sustainability = eliminate paper waste. It's a relatively simple task to have a schedule tacked up by the receptionist phone and answer the damn inquiry a student makes, no matter how repetitive. How do you teach customer service at the bar, if you can't address inquiries about the school adequately? I've only been to the school once for sign up and one lesson, so I can't judge the curriculum per se. But this rude receptionist is tainting my opinion of the staff there. This is the 3rd rude phone encounter with this guy. Update: issue resolved. Management took the time to address a change in policy.
