Sure ain't much to look at in a little nowhere of a town but hey the pancakes were DELICIOUS so... lol. The building it's in is very confusing and does not suggest "food". It's kind of a big metal two-story industrial looking shack. You might even wonder if you're in the right spot, though there's a sign on the building that says "Rivers Edge Restaurant." The restaurant is upstairs; I recommend rounding the corner to park up at the lot above rather than below. There's a side entrance you'll use, go past the restrooms, round another corner to go past the kitchen, and then you'll finally find the counter. You can order to-go or be seated in the dining area (which is also where there are a few slot machines and a billiards table). The guy running the place is friendly and attentive; he refilled our drinks while we were there. There's a decent number of options on the menu, with some great affordable options. Overall a great experience and a good way to get some food in us to resume our road trip. read more

Worst service in the food industry..... ive been in there 2 times, since I'm working in the area. The first time I sat there with one of my co workers for almost 30 minutes before the server came to acknowledge that we my want some food or refreshments. The food was sub par, the gravy for the biscuits and gravy was from a can, the biscuits were reheated in the microwave so they had the consistency of a rubber ball.... not a real exciting place to go unless you have the meth and like to gamble, I guess I decided to go back and give them a second shot about 3 months later and I ended up waling out after 20 minutes of sitting and watching the meth heads gamble away there money, never was acknowledged until I was walking out the door. Someday soon hopefully they shut down and someone with some business sense buys it and makes a killing.... its a really nice establishment, just garbage running it! read more

The food was ok. Appetizers were store bought jalapeño poppers. Nachos seemed to be worse than the fair. We clearly got the end of the bag cause the chips were all destroyed. We ended up eating them with a fork. WAY too much cheese. The chicken sandwich was ok. Unfortunately it's probably the best place to eat in this town. Don't expect much. When asking the waitress what a Pork Belly was, her response was, it's a Pork Belly... cool, thanks for the explanation. The atmosphere was weird. Interesting group of folks and building. Food took a while but it's literally prepared right in front of you on what looks to be a George Foreman grill. Quesadilla was huge and came with sour cream and salsa. The smoked Chicken Bacon wrap was large and pretty decent. If you're looking for a sanitary place to eat during COVID, this is NOT it. 2/3 workers wore their masks on their chins while they prepared food, restocked food and talked to each other. A hidden gem... no seriously, a Gem! Looks a little rough from the outside but don't let the exterior appearance sway your decision to eat here... it's five star fabulous! The service is quick and very friendly! They visit with you with true interest, not just because they have to. The food is amazing as well! We have stopped in here a few times while traveling I-84 to visit family in Eastern Oregon and lunch has always been good. This time we all ordered sandwiches or wraps and they did not disappoint. My personal favorite is the buffalo chicken wrap, but the taco and chicken avocado wraps pleased and the Cuban sandwich got devoured. It's really nice to be able to eat outside after driving for several hours, especially when it's cooler than 85 degrees in July. read more

If you are anywhere near Arlington you need to come here for the BBQ! My husband and I recently moved back to eastern Oregon after living in the Eugene area over 20 years. Honestly, we were prepared for so-so food. We were pleasantly surprised to find The Rivers Edge. We have eaten here several times and the BBQ always rivals any place else I've been. Tonight I had the smoked prime rib and it was delicious. Tender and medium rare just as I requested. On previous visits we have had the ribs and brisket - both cooked perfectly. One time mid-week they did not have fresh ribs but had some they could warm up. We love their ribs so took a chance. If they wouldn't have told us they weren't fresh we wouldn't have known - they were as tasty as ever. An extra added bonus - they have a small selection of regional wines. I love any business that will support local and I have found a new favorite winery, Waving Tree. I've tried 3 of their wines here and will be making a trip across the river to their winery to sample some more. Local business supporting local business - that is a win for everyone. Last but not least. This is a small establishment, don't come here expecting a downtown urban experience. If you want fancy or all the frills, stay in Portland. If you want good food, friendly people who are genuine and and aim to please, then come out to the Rivers Edge and enjoy good food with good people. read more

We stoped here and ordered some wraps. Taco: lettuce, tomato, olives, Spanish rice, cilantro, cheese, taco meat, salsa, &sour cream. We got our wraps there was no sour cream, salsa, rice, or cilantro. I asked they girl working there, she says " our manager told us, if they don't ask for those items, don't put them and sour cream and salsa doesn't come on there ". I said could I get the sour cream and salsa? Who puts a menu item with ingredients on there for you to have to ask for them all? No apologies or even a thank you. read more

We found the reviews to be highly overrated. While my half chicken caprese sandwich was tasty, my husband's half brisket was no more than 2 bites big. We ordered wine as well that was undrinkable. But the highlight of the adventure was when we looked down to see the parking lot where our table sat was COVERED in 3 inch long Mormon crickets (bigger than the brisket) many dead, but about 50 heading our way. A perfect place to stop for a meal between Portland and Boise. Must admit, the outside doesn't exactly scream "yummy restaurant" as it is in an old gas station BUT I'm so glad we gave it a go--it's clean and cute inside, with a great selection of beers and video poker if you're feeling lucky. We got a buffalo chicken wrap, an Asian chicken salad wrap, and a grilled PB&J for the little one, and all were very tasty! The potato salad and homemade chips were great, too. The whole operation was run by one young person who took our order and prepared our meal quickly. Would be a great place to stop on a sunny day, to get food to-go and go play on the playground and old train by the water across the street. This is a pretty good deli. They have good flavors and reasonable prices, although they do tend to the high side of reasonable. It's nice to be able to have a toasted or untoasted option on most sandwiches. We've dined here several times, and the big downside is that they're not set up to handle a rush of customers. That came back to bite them on this particular visit when they gave one of our orders to a different customer and had to remake it. My toasted pastrami just sat while they redid the other sandwich, and it ended to soggy as a result. Good flavors and lots of food, though. Recommended. read more

Stopped here for coffee on the way to Fossil/Antelope to experience the solar eclipse. I was happy to see they have a full coffee menu so I chose my favorite Americana. Highly recommend. Anything they cook in their smoker is bound to be delicious. I've heard some out-of-town friends remark that the sandwiches are small for what you pay for, but I think they don't take into account how good they taste. I didn't expect high quality, I expected warm. Despite my party being the only custumers in the building, our food took longer than expected to arrive, almost to give the illusion that food was actually being cooked. However, this was not the case. The only fresh ingredients out of all our meals combined was the bacon in my Chicken Bacon sandwitch. The brisket was three slices of cold, fat engulfed meat that took a minute to chew, because a gallon of your own saliva was needed to rehydrate it to protein-like texture. Furthermore, the room temperature BBQ ribs were severely lacking moisture even in the form of a barbeque sauce. Additionally, the side dish of Cheesey Potatos" resembled recycled hashbrowns and/or over cooked rice and no cheese was to been seen. We payed $100 for cold, dry food and no sevice. I can't speak to the other reviews, but our experience at River's Edge Deli was exceptional. I had the Chicken Caprese (I would have rather had the Pastrami Melt - it sounded so awesomely good the way Stephanie described it but my very health conscious future daughter-in-law is trying to extend my life). It was good (maybe a little less pesto next time). All five of us liked what they got, all different. Kristen and Stephanie were wonderful. They were very busy, but also, very personable; attending to everyone's needs (and we seem to be a very needy family when it comes to food!). The atmosphere was friendly and congenial. The business was clean and neat in all respects. River's Edge Deli is quite a find in the expanse between The Dalles and the Tri-Cities-Pendleton areas. The menu is varied and I think anyone would find something to their liking. I thought the food fresh and tasty. My salad tastes are simple: lettuce, olives, shredded carrots, a little shredded cheese and some balsamic vinaigrette) but my wife and future daughter-in-law are more sophisticated. They loved their salads (with all that green healthy-type stuff). Lots of options from which to choose. All-in-all, I will definitely make this a regular stop on our journeys to Montana. Oh, yes, the prices are very reasonable, the service impeccable and the experience wonderful. When asked, Stephanie and Kristen said they had been open about two years. I was quite surprised. Because of the freshness of everything (food, personnel, decor and atmosphere), I would have guess they had been in business only a few months at best. That is a phenomenal accomplishment. Stopped in while traveling and bought 2 BBQ Brisket Sandwiches. The negatives: (1) Size of sandwich was small--particularly the meat--but the price was high ($8.95). (2) Very slow in getting the sandwiches, even after they assured me that it would be fifteen minutes it was more than 1/2 hour. (3) The sandwich tasted awful. It wasn't spoiled or burnt or un-fresh or anything like that, it just was very plain with a sweet, off the shelf (Lawry's?), food service tasting sauce. My wife and I each ate half of one of the sandwiches, and didn't want to eat any more, so we put it in the refrigerator in our motorhome and threw it out later. YES, it was so bad we threw one of the sandwiches out! (4) As other's have mentioned, we couldn't see a river anywhere. The positives: (1) The place seemed to be clean, and had a nice rest room. (2) There seemed to be a bar on one side of the business. The beer prices seemed reasonable--although we didn't drink beer or wine. (3) The employees were moderately friendly, but seemed overwhelmed by the limited amount of business. We don't plan to go back. It was the worst tasting BBQ we've had in years. We were very pleased with the food and portion size! Staff was friendly and service was prompt. Most sandwiches can be traditional or made into a wrap. Lots of sandwich choices. Hubby chose the Asian wrap with house made potato chips. I had a half NW salad and chose prime rib as the meat. The portion was very generous and the thin sliced prime rib was melt in your mouth tender. The restaurant is a very short distance from the I84 exit 137 off ramp. I noticed they have a lounge area and the sign outside mentioned appetizers. If lunch is any indicator then I imagine the appetizers are tasty too.
