I came here with my job for a team builder! The music was great, and the staff was really sweet. We had a blast until I fell and fractured my leg. One of the employees came over immediately and gave me a bag of ice. I fell trying to get off the rink and back on to the carpet. I would recommend they add railing to help skaters get down onto the floor and back up out of the rink. Also, if you're over 40, don't go skating. The end. read more

Horrible experience I used to go skating a lot and now I never go any more. One of the floorguards (named Myah I believe) was so rude to me and all my friends multiple times. She would randomly charge us extra on all our drinks, even if we were just getting water cups. She would lie about me specifically and got all in my personal life and got one of her boyfriends to threaten to physically assault me if I kept skating. She was very mean to all of us and it has forced us to stop skating. read more

Warning - SUNDAY NIGHT- ADULT NIGHT- Fun place. Packed!300+ ppl!!! Good vibe/music. For that I'd give a 4star. Some ppl were super rude. Some were nice. A Mask was required to get in. One of the best wood floors I have ever skated on! For the adult skating session come Sunday, it's a great night time activity to do with a group of friends or alone. If you're an adult looking to skate another day besides Sunday it would be a Thursday, but it's family night so expect lots kids as well some adult regulars. This rink is class-A. I went for the first time on Sunday, for a friend's birthday party. I've not skated a rink in 25 years. This facility is 'model'. If you're out of practice there are plenty of pros around to hassle for quick lessons or pointers. Sam was not only gorgeous, but willing to help a 40 year old latte Tejana regain her rink legs. If you're slow-ish you're told to stick to the inside of the rink but there is no ring of safety for you there. The insane amount of people young and old that dance on the rink, as if they were born skating, will weave in and across and around you as you do your damndest to stay upright. It's not for the timid so go on an off day (if there is one?) if you need some space to practice. Otherwise, tune into to some smooth 70s, 80s, and 90s R&B jams (my childhood ) and drop your culo in the flow. read more

We used to love coming here but now its just disappointing. The music is absolutely horrible and the DJs just ignore requests. Hardly anyone here and the tables are filthy. Rollerskating fun A Saturday night at the Rivergate Skate Center, Nasvhille Rivergate http://www.skatecenter.com The last time I have been rollerskating was when I was probably 21 (I own a very flashy pair of old-school skates with rainbow-design) and on the streets of my German hometown Hannover. I have never been to an American skate rink - only seen and admired them in video-clips from the 70ies with Abba-style teenagers wearing tight orange hot-pants waving their afros in the wind. I was very excited to go - to say the least. Some friends and me get to the "Rivergate Skate-Center" and I am already impressed with the gigantic neon light rollerskate-sign they have hanging above the parking lot, promising a great time. The lady at the cashier is about 65 and looks at us with an air of surprise she can't quite hide. We should find out why pretty soon. Inside the center loud gangster rap is blaring from the speakers and the bright multi-coloured carpets are competing with the multi-colored rotating disco-light-system. The place is packed with teenagers, mainly black (hang on, you say African American, right) and it feels a bit like a mix of 'Alice in Wonderland', 'Boogey Nights' and Kindergarden - I love it! We get our skates and start rolling. Girls round: only girls allowed in the rink (I guess that includes sort of grown-up girls). I must look like a robot that needs it's joints lubed after 12 years of roller-abstinence. When they play the Spongebob-theme everyone sings a long, me included, as loud as we can. Then the DJ announces a race coming up. They start at age group 7-9, then 10-15, then 16-18 and then - we had anticipated something like that - he calls out for the 18 and aboves. We put on our most uninvolved faces and fearfully await what's going to happen. The DJ is a pimple-faced 22 year old slacker, that looks like he's still in High-school. He is not to be joked with and turns the spotlights on us, identifying us as "The old people" urging us to go out and race. None of us are as fit with the skates than any of those kids, but as we are promised some free lemonade by Mr DJ, we agree to go for it. Two more slightly under 18-year-olds join in for our race and we complete it -last of course. After two hours of rolling around we are exhausted (this is a proper work-out!) and agree that this has been the most fun Saturday-night ever and we hadn't even had any drinks! We found out later that they do have adult nights, but are still kind of glad we went to the teenie-fun. Endless entertainment! read more

Great time! I came here with my daughter on a school fundraiser. The place is very clean and all staff was helpful and friendly. They have a shop that sells skates and accessories. The rental skates are well kept , complete shoestrings, no chunks out of wheels, and didn't stink! I haven't skated since Jr high so I had no plans to skate. My daughter was doing good and I was enjoying just watching. Well not long after being there she asked me to skate with her. (I'm a pushover when it comes to her) well after skating a while, the floor is wood and very smooth, way better then other rinks with concrete floors. They also play games and have races. There are lots of video games and a concession stand. Great times with kids, friends, or something different for a date night. read more

I have a love hate relationship with rivergate. Some of the staff there is super great, my kids are 10 and 2 and both love skating. There are skate helpers for little ones and plenty of places to sit and take a break. My issues..Every time my daughter writes requests on the paper or asks them to play a song they dont. I even went to the booth and asked the dj to play a song since I saw he was done with the list (there were very minimal people there on this day) He said he didn't know who it was by then said he had never heard of LMFAO. Which is fine. But then I had asked about another song and he said he would see. They played a ton of rap and hip hop and that seemed to be the only genre they played.. I listen to all kinds of music. I just felt like they catered to certain crowds and not others. Next, some of these kids are unruly and there is no one watching them or stopping them. I have been here 3 times and the same kids are there. Throwing candy on the rink, dumping drinks by the lockers, using and throwing around the skate helpers, skating the wrong way into oncoming skaters and being disrespectful to other skaters. Now with that being said where are the parents? My 2 year old was done skating and playing games. 2 very small children were running around the games. One of the kids was maybe 3 or 4 years old and the other under 2. Both were unattended and no one was paying attention to them. They were grabbing my daughters hands and pulling her away from games. I looked for someone who was with them and they were on the other side of the rink not watching them.. I took her back to skate and then to break and play air hockey. These kids were still wandering. The littlest came and put his hand on mine and screamed through his pacifier. He wanted to play the game. I tried to tell him nicely it was our turn and no but then the little girl came over and grabbed the paddle. Said she was playing. My husband got upset and we left the rink.. i would really enjoy skating here if the "ref" did more than nothing. read more
