It's easier to keep an eye on your kids and the park is never over crowded. My son loves bringing his trucks into the sand area and I can sit and relax right next to him on the benches. There are restrooms right next to the playground/baseball fields. The walking trails are wide enough for multiple people to be walking, running and biking without bumping into each other- unlike highland. Overall great place and wish there were more like it in Baton Rouge.

Add the mixture of trees, bushes, and docks, and you have yourself a very nice scenic elegant park. For activities, there's people fishing and kayaking here and walking their dogs. It's pretty close to the LSU campus; it's obvious the student body and school staff enjoy this park as well!

With views of beautiful lakeside homes, a golf course and park greens, this lake is surrounded by Baton Rouge beauty. I've walked around the lake many times and the feeling of tranquility always overcomes me. You'll see many joggers, walkers and more expert runners taking advantage of the open space that this lake area offers. You can even paddle board and enjoy the water on a warm Louisiana day. It's located close to the interstate as well, for easy access. Parking is not difficult to find close by either. You'll find some shady spots to sit to take a break from the scorching sun on those hot days.

In addition to the city park there is an attached dog park, nice tennis facility, and a contemporary arts museum. Also, the parks are all really kept up and maintained well. Another plus is that the location in mid-city is great, the area is relatively safe. They oftentimes have free events going on such as the recent Arts in the Park with added free museum admission.
