As it's fairly new (5-6 years old or so?), these things are still state of the art and a lot of fun for the kiddos. We've also had plenty of luck hosting birthday parties there, as it's not nearly as mobbed as Carroll Park a few blocks north. I also look forward to when we can take more advantage of the basketball courts, turf field, and maybe even the skate park on the north side of the space. Divided by Nelson St you get a combination of little kids to big kids to adult fun options. The South side has excellent playground equipment that is generally protected from a lot of the direct elements (think rainy day play). Cross over to the North side and you have some turf area for small soccer or similar. Short gated directly next to that there is a 3' mini ramp, rail and box features for the skate rat in you (or your kid). A small "exercise " area divides the skate zone from the half court basketball net. All of the North has a jogging/biking/walking track around the enclosed park. Considering it was a slog to complete and it's proximity to my home I'm loving St. Mary's!

She shared a great many social welfare interests with her lifelong friend, Eleanor Roosevelt. During her later life she played an influential role in preserving Island Beach as a state park, and promoted the conservation of wildlife habitat. This park is a truly fitting monument to this woman's memory, and it is thankfully a treasure which the public can utilize for recreation and the elevation of everyday life.

Even when there are many people there, using the playground, hanging out at the lake, hiking, etc., it feels like you're all alone because there are so many spots for people to be! It never feels crowded like other parks which make me feel like there was no point in going (I go to escape crowds!). It can get a little swampy after the rain, so wear suitable shoes. I slid down a hill once and my shoes saved the day. Lots of winding trails and water views, so bring a camera!

If you do so, you can typically enter without paying for a beach pass (granted you don't leave the beach premises and return). It helps getting early for that, beating traffic, and enjoying the beach before it gets unbearably hot. Admittingly, it might not be the best beach for swimming, but it's pretty clean and quiet. It's more a surfers beach with the waves, but I had a fun time. I like the quiet nature of the beach and the boardwalk. It's a nice area to walk around. I also enjoyed the swingset which brought back memories of my childhood. Overall, I'd consider coming back here again.

Arrive to a very organized bag drop area for guests as most private clubs are mostly members playing. Very helpful in welcoming us, and on the carts and off to the range we go. Range mats only today with max distance 190 yards. Carts are dated no GPS. With young college kid fore caddie assigned. Of we go to an absolutely magnificent golf course from layout to conditions, to maintained bunkers etc. Really top shelf as a private club of this nature should be. Only knock which could be from the weather greens looked much faster than they were though if you get them rolling properly this course would be unreal. Pace of play was ok as busy for a Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately the 1st year fore caddie with absolutely no experience was pretty much a waste of time but being a guest I certainly can't say anything negative. In short Course itself really top shelf - didn't even visit the inside facilities so I can't comment, and being a guest I'm not going to be overly critical of staff etc as I certainly have no right to voice my opinion of a private equity club. Course a 9 out of 10 and some knock offs for the aforementioned above. 4.5* course wise! Hope for a return invite.

The trails are perfect for walking your furry dogs, in-line skating, cycling, easy walking and pushing strollers. There is also a repair station with a tire pump and tools found near the basketball courts. The Challenger Place has finally finished and is a designed playground for kids who are blind or visually impaired. Their sport courts include tennis and basketball courts, as well as an in-line skating rink. The athletic field is available for rental and may be used for baseball games but not for practices. I have heard they have swimming pools but I personally did not see it. Instead, I saw a spray ground (water-enhanced playground) which was to open in mid-May but given our current situation with the COVID-19 outbreak, this is doubtful for mid-May 2020 due to the pandemic restrictions. Normally, it would open mid-May through early September. I would imagine the busiest time to be there with kids is during the height of summer because summer camps are held there by the Monmouth County Park System and Challenged Youth Sports from Middletown.
