Not much room here. Kids are sitting on the road to roast hot dogs. Not child friendly.

First off, this isn't the typical campground you think of in your mind's eye. It is right on the main drag in Pigeon Forge, so you don't get the "outdoor feel" that you might be expecting being so close to the national park. Additionally, as with most other businesses in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area, maximum profit is the driving force, which is fine in a capitalist society, but just realize that there is a cost to it. In this case, space is very limited. We went with a cabin, which could be called quaint by some and tight by others. The fire ring is literally right on the road, so you have to contend with passing cars as you sit by the fire. No joke ~ your folding chairs will sit on the road. This is not child friendly. You need to keep an eye on your kids at all times. None of this mattered a whole lot to us, as we were planning on sleeping here and spending the whole day in the park. For this purpose, I think it is a fine option. The restroom and shower facilities are perhaps the nicest and cleanest I've ever seen at a campground, and I've been to a lot of campgrounds. They are absolutely phenomenal. If you want to "sleep" here only, I highly recommend. If you want to "camp" here, I think you'll be disappointed.

SKIP THE KOA. Stay here instead... Pigeon Forge has a trolley system ($0.50 per trip or $2.50 unlimited day pass) that has a stop by the office. Park the RV and see the town without fighting traffic. Pool is beautiful and they have a splash park for little ones. Trees everywhere so the spots are shaded. We got a back in spot but they are wide so it was easy to park. Staff is courteous and efficient. I was checked in and out of the office in about 60 seconds. $5 discount per person to Dixie Stampede was a nice bonus!

We had our family and all of our friends come for our wedding. Everyone stayed here except 3 families that stayed in a hotel and they regretted it. We either brought 5th wheels, class a's or pull behind campers. Some of the family stayed in the camping cabins and we rented out the entire row of furnished cabins. The wifi was suburb and we are all streaming freaks, we in campers had full hookups working properly and had a fair amount of space. The camping cabins have a microwave, mini fridge a little air conditioner and I'm not sure about heater. Everyone said the walk to the bathrooms was nice and they felt safe in the park. The furnished cabins were very nice and honestly we reserved one for ourselves but my mom wanted it so we stayed in our rv. The only thing I would possibly change is put a back porch on so you could just enjoy the grass. But seriously it has a cute front porch and swing. We were treated so nice and we loved Maryann so much! Everyone really went out of their way to help us! We all decided to come back next year to just enjoy each other. This place is a good distance from everything.

Very small and narrow sites, rude front desk staff, little to no kid outdoor play areas. Only good thing was the location, that's about it.

Buddy Bear is no "Buddy" to smaller-sized travel trailers…read more I recently stayed 3 nights (Dec 27 - Dec 30) at Buddy Bear RV Campground and was very disappointed with what transpired. I booked my stay from their webpage and received a confirmation email on December 15th for Site #4 which is the one I reserved. Site #4 is a premium site according to the website and it costs a bit more than a regular site. My fiancée and I wanted to stay along the river and at the time that was the only site available along the river. The day I arrived for my stay, Dec 27th, I received an email at 12:37 PM, So around check-in time, stating I was moved to site #21 which is a regular site and not along the river. It is also not large enough for a travel trailer and the towing vehicle to park in. I asked the manager lady why I was moved to a different site and was met with the following responses: "We try to put smaller campers in the smaller sites and save the bigger ones for potential larger campers to rent out." "It's a very common thing, we've been doing this for 30 years and you guys are new campers you'll see." "Park your vehicle over behind the dumpsters if it won't fit at your new smaller site." "The river is still close by as it's just across the street." "You should lock in the site if you want it that bad but it will cost extra." (There isn't an option on the website to Lock-In a site) Someone was already residing in site #4 upon my arrival, I can only conclude they extended their stay and the managers or owners didn't want to move them and figured it would be easier to move me. When we asked for a refund of the difference between the premium site and the regular site I was informed there were no refunds. I also asked to be moved to a different site along the river as there were 5 available at the time of my arrival. The site's 5/7/9/10/11 were all available still and along the river. I was informed that they were all booked up for the holidays and there was nowhere else to put me. Once we kept asking for the refund difference, ONLY THEN, did a premium site magically become available for use. Site #18 is not by the river but at least a large spot for my travel camper and tow vehicle. They had to inform the tenant on site #17 to move his extra vehicles from the site so I could use it. To be clear, they were going to put me in a smaller site, and not give me a refund of the difference before telling someone else to move their extra vehicles from a site they weren't paying for. At the end of the day, I stayed in a "premium site" although it wasn't near the river like I wanted. But we are at least even financially. The morning I was packing up my travel trailer to depart, DEC 30, I took another lap around and wouldn't you know, Premium Site #9 along the river was never booked or used from the moment I showed up until the moment I left. This means they lied about being "completely booked up for the Holidays" We will never be staying here again. My Mother and her Husband won't be, my fiancée and her family won't be either, nor will some of my Army buddies when we take group trips in our campers. From now on we will be staying at Ripplin Waters, it's $57.50 a night there or $60 during holidays so also more budget-friendly! They have over 150 sites with more than 40 along the river. Best of all THEY WON'T MOVE YOU TO ANOTHER SITE OR DISCRIMINATE BASED ON THE SIZE OF YOUR CAMPER.

I think the name has changed to Buddy Bear and currently they are short staffed so everything like…read morecheck in is done virtual and with a code for the gate. I enjoyed this campground because it's by the river, small, quiet, and away from all the chaos of pigeon forge. However it's close enough to get to amenities and tourist areas if desired.

Kids enjoyed the pool and having fun while many families rented the facilities golf carts to get around the camp. The Bad: The campground is way more packed and has smaller sites than what the photos indicate. You will find it to be congested, especially on the weekends. I called the Hilton Garden In Pigeon Forge, I spoke with a woman at the front desk who told me they had availability. I asked if she needed a deposit to hold my room and she said no. I informed her we would arrive very late and had a 6-7 hour drive. She said she would hold my reservation. Upon arriving the man at the front desk told us the reservation had been "booted" from their system and they gave our room to someone else. So we left. We called several other hotels on the same strip. No availability. The last call brought me to Tonya at Margaritaville. From that night on our stay was amazing. We met Rusty at the front desk who took care of our stay. Tonya Craven who made sure not only we were taken care of, but every guest these two came in contact with were happy and taken care of and made sure we all felt at home!!!! This place is dog friendly. We lovedddddd this! The food at the restaurant was really good and Seth the bar tender down stairs was very personable and made sure our food was on point. The hotel was clean. The room had comfortable beds, cozy towels and was just right. The hotel is decorated beautifully for Christmas. The New Year's party with the live band was fun! The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. If we didn't have to be home for scheduled meetings, we would have extended our stay a few more days!!! Thank you Tonya, Seth, and Rusty for helping our family ring in the new year!

They also have a small pool, sand volleyball and a playground for the kids. The bathrooms are pretty nice actually, and showers are decent too. The sites are pretty much right up on each other, and not all of them have fire rings. We saw where there possibly was one on our site next to the road, but no ring. But if you're just sleeping here, then it's perfect for you. It was pretty quiet, minus the traffic noise. So again, a plus. They do have a small store on site for firewood and the like. The perk here is "continental breakfast" every morning. Or rather a voucher good at the Smokey Mountain Pancake house down the street. You get a choice of 4 different items. Mainly a 3 pancake breakfast, French toast, or biscuits and gravy. I wish they had a smaller more simple sausage and egg or omelet option, but they do have a percentage off if you don't want one of the prechosen combos. The location is nice, just on the other side of the river from the parkway, and at the end of the strip before you head into Gatlinburg, so nothing flanks you on 2 sides really. And if you take the back road to get here less traffic! It's also super simple to get to Dollywood as well. So quiet not a whole lot of bells and whistles simple place to park and rest your head if that's what you're looking for. And decently priced under $50 with hookups.

However, it was right next to the trash bins--unpleasant due to the odor and the constant noise of people opening and closing the lids. It was also near a busy road, which made for a noisy night. My observations: There wasn't much for young children to do. The game room featured only one working machine, and there was no pool table as shown in the promotional photos. Very few games were available for kids. For a park in the Smoky Mountains, there was a surprising lack of trees. The pool was small and fully exposed to the sun, which made it crowded and uncomfortable. The cement pad at our premium site wasn't level--disappointing considering the "premium" label. When I asked the attendant about the Pigeon Forge Mass Transit stop at the campground, she said she'd worked there for years and didn't know anything about it. So, plan to do your own research in advance. Overall, it wasn't the worst experience we've had, but the park could benefit from some improvements if it wants guests like us to return. Unfortunately, I won't be back--there are plenty of other campgrounds in the area that are better suited to our needs.
