I literally found this place by accident--and I'm still not over it…read more I was just wandering around and somehow walked into what might be the best metaphysical shop I've ever experienced. From the second I stepped in, everything felt intentional. The crystals are ethically sourced (which actually matters), the incense and oils are high quality, and the candle selection is insane, but nothing felt pushy or commercial. What really stood out was the people. Everyone there was so knowledgeable, patient, and real. Not trying to sell me things I didn't need, just genuinely helping and answering questions in a way that actually made me trust what I was buying. And the tarot reading... I don't even know how to explain it without sounding dramatic, but it was easily the most accurate and in-depth reading I've ever had. Not vague, not generic...like she actually tapped into something. It felt personal, grounding, and honestly kind of unforgettable. The whole space has this calm, welcoming energy that makes you want to stay way longer than you planned. I walked in randomly and left feeling like I was meant to find it. Safe to say I'll be going back.

This might be my favorite locally owned shop in St. Louis. The owners, Tim and Curtis, are truly something special. Transplants from San Francisco, they bring such a warm, welcoming energy.... it felt like an instant connection. You can tell they've poured their heart into this space, and it reflects everything that makes St. Louis feel unique and full of character. The shop is filled with incredible finds: metaphysical goods, candles, one-of-a-kind jewelry, scarves, books, incense, stones, and so much more. Everything feels thoughtfully curated and fairly priced. Definitely stop in to support this LGBTQ+ friendly local business--you'll be glad you did.

Like another reviewer said, the shop interior is quite dusty. The blocks of melt and pour along the shelves had gone sticky from humidity and exposure. I also believe the fragrances were cut, if not old and faded. Most every product is at least 30-60% more expensive than online retailers like Bulk Apothecary or WSP. I'm all for shopping local whenever possible, but I can't justify paying nearly double for old, dirty stock. The convenience just isn't worth it. Not when you can order online and get my supplies in 4-7 days. It sucks to say considering how sweet the proprietor was, but the store is in desperate need of a refresh before I even think of recommending it to anyone. There's a reason why most of the positive reviews are from a decade ago.

When I shop here, I am not only supporting a local business, I am also supporting a local artist as well. That is a win-win. If any of you have shopped here and walked out without buying a single item, I want to know how you did it. I personally can always find an item or two to buy. I am either adding to my favorite pattern, Mixed Berry or I'm just buying a new random item that I just simply like. The quality of the handmade pottery is impressive and the prices are very reasonable. The staff gives a hippy vibe, which goes right along with the pottery/artist theme. Being a dog dad, I love that their show winning King Charles Spaniel, works the sales floor, like a true champion. When shopping on Broadway in downtown Alton, be sure to stop by Mississippi Mud Pottery. If you're like me, you'll walk out with one or more pieces of beautifully crafted pottery and will not regret it. The pieces can be for you or as a gift.
