We have visited Freed Gallery a couple of times. It's what I would call a small, neighborhood feel…read moregallery. It's very laid back and relaxed for being an art gallery. I really like the style. It's not pushy sales people like you find in Carmel and other coastal towns. I wasn't swept into a room and offered champagne. The sales staff allows you to walk around and view without harassment. At one point we were asked if we would like to take a picture of some art we like. Some Fine Arts Museums have changed their policies and now allow photography in parts of their permanent collections. However, they typically ban all photography in special exhibitions, which are often the main reason people are visiting. Galleries are trying to sell art so typically pictures would be ban. I appreciated the gesture. We practiced the best self-control we possibly could however after falling in love with this picture the first visit we had to purchase the second visit. Dreams of Ancients Acrylic on canvas By dusanka kralj We made an offer that we thought was reasonable. The manager at the gallery contacted the artist and before we could get back to Portland our offer was accepted. It was simple and easy. We arranged a pickup date instead of having it delivered. I would recommend stopping in if you're in the area. You never know what piece might catch your attention.

The Bridal Gallery - Wedding Dress

I kept putting it off, mostly because I hate the experience of dressing rooms and the insane pressure to find THE ONE. I had just graduated from college a month prior and the anxiety combined with post grad blues and the fact that most of my bridesmaids were unable to be there was ramping up. Before my fitting, Michelle called to ask more specifics. What did I want, what was my price range, etc. I had an envisioned a dress for months previous but thought I would keep an open mind (especially since my wedding is in two months). THANK GOODNESS I DID! I scheduled an earlier appointment and arrived with my mom and little sister in tow. The gallery had just opened which gave us the entire store to ourselves. I'm very much a bride-on-a-budget so we were mainly shopping from the Outlet. Michelle had put aside a dress that she thought would be cool, didn't pressure me, and I agreed thinking it would be fun. Little did I know, it would be the one. The entire experience was amazing; they served us seasonal mocktails during the fitting, Michelle held up a suit coat in the color of my groom to help me envision the big day clearly, I was able to try on a wonderful selection of gorgeous dresses all within my price range and even one from the Gallery. I didn't feel any condescension for the fact that I was shopping from the outlet and was treated with respect and words of affirmation. I had another appointment later in the day so I didn't nab it up right then and there...but I couldn't get the dress off of my mind. I went back a few hours later and tried it on again. Michelle was so kind, gave me all the time, and the relief when I said yes was very much mutual. She even gave me a hefty discount, which was extremely considerate. I found my NEW dream dress and I couldn't be more ecstatic over it! Can't say enough words of praise for the Bridal Gallery.

Such a sweet soul from the very beginning and an absolutely amazing listener! The store itself is very clean, organized and friendly. All staff greeted my family and I and they were truly there for us. The choices in dresses are beautiful! And the price range is amazing! I had gone to 3-4 store already not really seeing much that I loved and just after 10 min of chatting with her and hearing me out she pulls out the most amazing dress possible. Everything about this experience was just so comforting and thoughtful. Madilyn you truly are exceptional and I wish you nothing but the best!!

Pacific City Gallery - Rose Perez print that we purchased "After the Storm"

If you ever go to the Oregon Coast, you need to check out Pacific City Gallery in Pacific City,…read moreOregon. My husband and I took a trip to the Oregon coast for a little vaca. Pacific City is BEAUTIFUL! We went to several little towns checking out the lighthouses and little shops. About the gallery: The people that work here are super nice and the owner is VERY informative. We loved the artists they had in the gallery like and purchased a Rose Perez seascape. In addition to wall art, they also have glass balls, wood carvings, pottery, jewelry and textiles. The prices are also appropriate and not outrageously overpriced. I will post some photos when I get the images uploaded but I thought I would mention it. Note: Make sure you call to check on their hours. Since it is winter they are only open Thursday thru Sunday (I was told this was pretty common for the coast). Lastly, I wanted to reiterate that Pacific City's beach is beautiful with Chief Rock and the flat sandy beach. There is a huge area along the beach that is almost untouched because it is part of a national park Bob Straub Park. You can park your car and walk thru the grass to the beach. Keep walking (South) and you end up where the ocean meets the river. We saw some seals swimming around. Also, if you head (North) during low tide you can also check out the sea urchins and muscles that line the rocks.

Very welcoming gallery with a great variety of artworks in all mediums.read more
