Fantastic experience! Wanted to try SUP for a while and found this place via a Living Social…read morepromotion. Made a reservation for 4th of July weekend a few weeks in advance. The excursion is for about two hours of paddle boarding, but we were advised to be there 15-30 minutes before to prep. We needed time to apply sunblock and put all of our non-waterproof items in the car. We were told that if you don't want it wet, then don't bring it on the board with you. I checked in at the front desk with Eric and signed a standard waiver, then waited for our guide to round us up. Our group of three, along with another couple, were escorted to a dock area by SUP guide Laurel. Laurel was pretty cool-very chill, patient lady, great personality, and a kind teacher. We were fitted for a single adjustable paddle size, then on to the boards to paddle ourselves into nature. It was so helpful to have Lauren guide us on how to get on/off the board and how to start off balancing the right way. We also received instructions on how to row, turn, and backup using the paddle. We journeyed up the New Smyrna North Causeway towards the drawbridge. We spotted many Dolphins along the way and breezed past waterfront homes, small islands, and some boats and other paddle boarders. Sometimes we got fatigued and took short breaks by sitting or kneeling on the board while we continued to paddle forward. We had a paddling break by the North Causeway bridge on a sandbar. Laurel took some photos and provided us with water from her cooler. After that we went forward on the loop course towards the dock where we started off. Some important things-you may need water shoes, depending on your tolerance of having your feet in an intracoastal waterway. Don't bring anything that cannot be submerged in water. Put on sunblock and bring sunglasses. Consider wearing a hat and just a swimsuit. It feels very liberating in swimwear, just hanging out in nature somewhat scantily clad. Bring cash to tip your guide well. Also you can buy the photos of your experience on a thumb drive for $30 at the end. I really can't wait to try this again, maybe next time unguided. It felt so free and fun to glide on the water, this could be my new favorite hobby! Great day out.

To say only that "we had a great time" would be an understatement! This is a well-run operation using great boats in an absolutely beautiful part of natural Florida. The houseboats are small (you did see that the business is named "Tiny Houseboats," right?), but they make up for that in their ability to get into places on the St. Johns River that few other boats would dare to go. The owners - Rick and Carrie - have the vessels well-maintained and perfectly-equipped to ensure a wonderful river adventure. They are easy to pilot, and use next to no gas at all. We plan to make this an annual trip, and I highly recommend Tiny Houseboat Adventures for great fun and relaxation on the St. Johns River!

Floating docks and the inland side of the ICW make HHM a great hurricane hole. The facilities are kept to a very high standard with daily cleaning of the 5 bathhouses. Secure docks with keyed entry and roaming nighttime security make HHM a boaters paradise wether you are a liveaboard or just require dockage. Transients are made to feel welcome as well. Lots to do within walking distance but sadly no close grocery stores save 7-11. If you are traveling the ICW you should stop by just to take a look. Gas / Diesel at very competitive prices with Boat U.S. Member discounts. I've just left for the Bahamas but will return for hurricane season in July. See you there?

While I was in Orlando on business, I made a call to Florida Family Marine and was fortunate enough to connect with Josh Gourley, the Sales Manager. From beginning to end, the process of acquiring the boat was made easy and enjoyable by Josh and the entire team at Florida Family Marine. The staff on Old New York Avenue politely showed me every aspect of the used boat, and they disclosed both good and not so good items and made everything on the boat 100% functional before I picked her up. They detailed the cushions and cockpit as well as the hull and made the boat feel new to me. The test drive on the St. Johns River (which included some much-appreciated trailering schooling) with Josh was more like a fun family outing with your relaxed brother-in-law than a shake-down run! Josh and the Florida Family Marine team take the hassles out of purchasing a used boat.
