I stayed at the Rivendell Guest House with a group of friends for a wedding in early July. We booked because a few of us are Tolkien nerds so the entrance hall with the Elvish guest book didn't disappoint.
I booked the single room as the wife was away in the US and it was much cheaper than the doubles. It was a very small room and had a single bed and an en-suite bathroom, which was fine for me. The breakfast was served between 8:30 and 9:30 and each room is allocated its own table. I liked that you could choose the ingredients you wanted in the cooked breakfast and there also seemed to be unlimited toast.
The owners were very accommodating and set up an ironing board in the communal sitting room for us all to iron our wedding clothes. The Guest House was a 10 minute walk away from the sea front and would make an ideal base to explore the Jurassic coast from. The double rooms are very spacious so I would stay here with the wife if we were in the area in future. read more
