With limited time I needed to get my apartment on the market and sold in as shorter time as possible. I went to see Greg at Blue Door. Just as the website says, he is not the run of the mill estate agent, he is more like an old friend that you have a cup of tea and catch up with. Greg without any shadow of a doubt knows the housing market, he knows every psychological trick, price point, selling points and areas to avoid. I believe that he has an outstanding record in getting the price the seller is after in the shortest times possible. For example our property went on the first weekend. We could not be more pleased with the service Blue Door provided. I wish I had known of Greg and Blue Door when I sold my last two properties. If you are fed up of going into High St estate agents and being greeted by gel haired kids just out of school who are more interested in their mobile phones and how many stickers are on their estate agent cars then do yourself a favour and go and see a 'grown up' who knows his trade like quite frankly no other that I have met in 15 years of buying and selling properties. Thank you Blue Door, I will continue to spread the word for you. Outstanding !!!

So far, I'm not impressed. First the positives: this place is well equipped, especially in the…read morekitchen. There is a small fridge, a cooktop, oven, microwave and even a small dishwasher and an all in one laundry machine. It washes and dries in one appliance. I haven't needed to use them yet, so I will update as my 2 week stay progresses. It's clean and perfectly sized for a business traveller. Now, for the not-so-good. First, there's the temperature. It's hot in this apartment. Somewhere in the high 70s and they do not offer A/C. There is a fan in the closet, and that makes the nights bearable. The outside temp is only in the mid 70s, so I'd hate to be here if it was much hotter outside. Second: the wifi. In a word, it's useless. They offer two tiers, free "economy" and "business class". First I tried the free service and it's horribly slow. I got speed tests that showed me ~300 Kb/s upload and ~400Kb/s download speeds. Business class is advertised as "up to 8MB/s" and all my speed tests are showing me ~300 Kb/s upload and ~400Kb/s download speeds. That's right, literally NO difference. Since I am paying for the speed boost, and I am not getting it, I decided to call the reception to see if they could help. This is where the third not-so-good comes in. I sat on hold, with recorded music and adverts for over 20 minutes and eventually hung up. No one ever answered. I will pop down to reception tomorrow and see if I can get the internet sorted. More updates if events warrant. An update: the issue with slow internet seemed to resolve itself and I did not have speed issues for the remainder of my two weeks. Overall, this was a good stay. I would have liked better options for temperature control, but that's my only real complaint.

So instead of just a bedroom and bathroom, you find that you have all that plus a living room and kitchen/diner. The kitchen is very kitted out, managed to make a Sunday roast with all the trimmings with the equipment provided. The living room included a really comfy sofa, TV, DVD and Radio/CD/Docking station. As far as getting ready for a night out at a chilled out pace or having some space beyond just a bedroom in a room; this place is a total no brainer if you are planning to be out and about in Bristol. As for the location, it is about in the centre as you could get; you can get to the old town (Welsh Back) or the party areas within a couple of minutes walk. The place is also next to a supermarket, so getting food and stuff for the apartment is no effort. The only slight downside is the smell in the reception if the Subway next door. That said, you don't spend any time in the reception, so it's no bother. I have stayed here 3 times now and if I'm ever in Bristol, this is the place for me; it just perfect for a weekend away in this great city.

Just a stone's throw from Bristol Temple Meads station it's the start of the areas re-development with new sparkly offices and further residential buildings to crop up over the next few years. There is some parking (off-street), but it can fill up fast. It is located very close to the Oracle, and there is a Tesco Express a half block away. It's pretty nice to set up a little home, and have your own bowl of cereal, or even cook for yourself if you want. Of course, it's still not not really home...
