There is a small fridge, a cooktop, oven, microwave and even a small dishwasher and an all in one laundry machine. It washes and dries in one appliance. I haven't needed to use them yet, so I will update as my 2 week stay progresses. It's clean and perfectly sized for a business traveller. Now, for the not-so-good. First, there's the temperature. It's hot in this apartment. Somewhere in the high 70s and they do not offer A/C. There is a fan in the closet, and that makes the nights bearable. The outside temp is only in the mid 70s, so I'd hate to be here if it was much hotter outside. Second: the wifi. In a word, it's useless. They offer two tiers, free "economy" and "business class". First I tried the free service and it's horribly slow. I got speed tests that showed me ~300 Kb/s upload and ~400Kb/s download speeds. Business class is advertised as "up to 8MB/s" and all my speed tests are showing me ~300 Kb/s upload and ~400Kb/s download speeds. That's right, literally NO difference. Since I am paying for the speed boost, and I am not getting it, I decided to call the reception to see if they could help. This is where the third not-so-good comes in. I sat on hold, with recorded music and adverts for over 20 minutes and eventually hung up. No one ever answered. I will pop down to reception tomorrow and see if I can get the internet sorted. More updates if events warrant. An update: the issue with slow internet seemed to resolve itself and I did not have speed issues for the remainder of my two weeks. Overall, this was a good stay. I would have liked better options for temperature control, but that's my only real complaint.

So instead of just a bedroom and bathroom, you find that you have all that plus a living room and kitchen/diner. The kitchen is very kitted out, managed to make a Sunday roast with all the trimmings with the equipment provided. The living room included a really comfy sofa, TV, DVD and Radio/CD/Docking station. As far as getting ready for a night out at a chilled out pace or having some space beyond just a bedroom in a room; this place is a total no brainer if you are planning to be out and about in Bristol. As for the location, it is about in the centre as you could get; you can get to the old town (Welsh Back) or the party areas within a couple of minutes walk. The place is also next to a supermarket, so getting food and stuff for the apartment is no effort. The only slight downside is the smell in the reception if the Subway next door. That said, you don't spend any time in the reception, so it's no bother. I have stayed here 3 times now and if I'm ever in Bristol, this is the place for me; it just perfect for a weekend away in this great city.

Bristol Builders Ltd - RICHARD CASE (Rich)

Terrible Experience, Very Unprofessional Service by Richard Case of Bristol builders. STAY WELL…read moreCLEAR. Mr Richard Case initially came across as very professional, genuine and committed to his work. He came round before commencing the work with contracts and a completion date. However, this initial positive experience could not have been further from the truth. We hired Richard Case to: 1) Render the outside of our house 2) Damp proof the inside of our living room 3) Replace a gallows bracket under removed chimney breast in the loft 4) Replace an arch over the main door 5) Close off and vent the chimney breast on the ground floor. 6) Fit a new window in the living room 7) Waste removal of old building materials and rubble. Mr Case did a fantastic job of closing off the chimney breast on the ground floor, and of replacing an arch over the front door of our property. This aspect of this work was immaculate, and gave us confidence in his work. Mr Case continued to strip off the old plaster from the living room, ready for the internal damp proofing render and DPC. The walls were stripped down to bare brick, and there was dust absolutely everywhere, which is to be expected with such extensive work. Mr Case assured us the work would be done quickly. However, he disappeared for a few weeks after this - without a word. He did not explain to us what was going on, refused to answer our phone calls, and left our house as a building site. He promised to finish the work within a certain time scale, however, 2 months after, he had barely started, and we were pretty much living in the kitchen as the rest of our house was full of building dust. Mr Case then returned within a few weeks, and we gave him the benefit of the doubt as he explained he had family problems. He continued with the internal damp proofing, which was done to an good standard (apart from the fact that he said the DPC had been carried out when it actually hadn't!). However, he then re plastered the living room, and to be fair, did a fantastic job of the plastering. However, the biggest horror started when he attempted to render the outside of the house. He had previously replaced the window in the living room. He did the rendering, and in the process, absolutely wrecked our new window; it is covered in render and scratched to bits. Moreover, within a day, the whole lot was starting to come down as he had rendered straight over old flaking paint!! He left the fallen render in bags all over our garden - our garden is absolutely wrecked! He did not apologise for this botch job, but made out that he had done us a favour by taking down the remainder of render that was not sticking, and even tried to charge us for doing this!!! When we explained we were not happy paying for rendering that ended up in bin bags rather than on the walls - Mr Case threatened to dump all the old building materials he had previously taken away back in our garden out of spite, although we had already paid for the removal of waste. He did not take away the remainder of the failed render, and left our front garden full of building waste and rubble. He did not answer our calls when we tried calling to resolve the situation, but indeed communicated these threats via text messages. The work was not resolved, neither did bristol builders try to put things right for us. They truly made our lives hell for months. We went on to hire a different builder to re do all the work and to fix the damages caused to our property, and he turned out to be absolutely fantastic. All is now fine, apart from the immense costs incurred and inconvenience caused for us by Mr Case. NEVER would we hire Bristol Builders again, and I'd advise anyone against doing so.

I asked him to lay my front garden from grass to brick, when they first started there was no respect for their surroundings and other peoples gardens as they left rubbish strewn everywhere, it took months June through to the following March /April to get any resemblance of a brick drive as he says he's coming to work on it but more often than not doesn't turn up, once it was actually completed and paid for £3250 it was found to have been laid wrong and had been left as a tripping / slipping hazard I had someone come to inspect it and was told the wrong mix of cement had been used, after another couple of months of Richard saying he was coming to correct it and then yet again not turning up, not answering the phone or answering messages he eventually sent some of his workers to take up the cement, they once again only appeared for 1 day didn't complete the task let alone correct the work and left never to be seen again, I have had to pay someone else more money to correct the work and take away the rubble I was left with. I am now waiting for the small claim court to take the relevant action as the paperwork has been filed, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE USE RICHARD CASE FOR ANYTHING .

Their staff are all pretty friendly, and work hard to ensure viewings are useful, and should it get to the next stage, that the official documentation goes ahead smoothly. Their offices are situated near the bottom of Whiteladies Road, in a big glass fronted premises that holds the ads of their available places. It's quite a swanky looking office, so they've clearly made efforts to look presentable, which isn't the case for some other lettings agents in the city. If you go down the road of Lettings Agents, fees are inevitable, but theirs are quite reasonable compared to market. They have a number of the high quality type places you'd expect to find in the expensive areas in which they operate, so if you have a large budget you'd do worse than giving them a go.

I've always thought estate agency was a bit of a confidence trick (how else do they get away with such exorbitant prices?) and they've done their best to keep up their charade here. Right, now I'm finished with that slightly bitter description of what they look like I should give an assessment of the service they deliver. First I should highlight that they're an lettings agent, rather than sales. Things are done on time and phones are answered, which is more than a lot of the colleagues can manage. They do charge a lot, but then so does everyone else so I shouldn't hold that against them. Another plus is that they actually manage to say a few words when they're showing you around the place, again something a lot of other estate agents don't manage. Bristol Residential Letterings do a bad job well, if that makes sense.

With limited time I needed to get my apartment on the market and sold in as shorter time as possible. I went to see Greg at Blue Door. Just as the website says, he is not the run of the mill estate agent, he is more like an old friend that you have a cup of tea and catch up with. Greg without any shadow of a doubt knows the housing market, he knows every psychological trick, price point, selling points and areas to avoid. I believe that he has an outstanding record in getting the price the seller is after in the shortest times possible. For example our property went on the first weekend. We could not be more pleased with the service Blue Door provided. I wish I had known of Greg and Blue Door when I sold my last two properties. If you are fed up of going into High St estate agents and being greeted by gel haired kids just out of school who are more interested in their mobile phones and how many stickers are on their estate agent cars then do yourself a favour and go and see a 'grown up' who knows his trade like quite frankly no other that I have met in 15 years of buying and selling properties. Thank you Blue Door, I will continue to spread the word for you. Outstanding !!!
