My husband and I took several classes at Village Birth leading up the birth of our baby, and I found my amazing lactation consultant, Hideko, after taking a very informative breastfeeding class with Yvonne. Hideko was an invaluable resource to me after the baby was born and continued to be for many months afterward. There was no way I would be able to breastfeed as long as I have if it weren't for her. Separately, I worked with prenatal chiropractor Dr. Jenny Stofer as well, who is also part of the Village Birth group now. I had experienced quite a bit of discomfort in my back during my pregnancy and she always made me feel at ease, listened to my concerns, and took care of any issues I had quickly and gently. I always left my sessions with her feeling energized, supported and like my baby had more room in there! It was incredible. Village Birth is made up of such a thoughtful, supportive and kind group of individuals who are talented and passionate about their work. If you're nearby and having a baby, it is the best place for top notch care and information!

My first circle it was very intimidating being the only POC there.

Huntington Hospital offers an array of educational courses as you prepare for that life changing…read moreevent known as having a baby! This course is focused on the mother and her partner. The breathing techniques, labor options and how partners can best support the mom. The educators are experienced labor and delivery RN's and are open and welcome your questions and involvement in the class. The first half of the class is getting settled, introductions and getting started. The second half starts with a video and spends more time additional breathing techniques and what to expect/do to prep for labor. This is a great class for first time parents. It encourages a father/partners involvement and explains the physical and emotional journey you are about to go on! All of your questions like when should we go to the hospital and what is labor, what is a good sign, what is a bad sign will be addressed during this class. Parking - East parking - in the research building Bring: Water, snacks (lunch if you like to bring there are plenty of restaurants in the area), two pillows and a light sweater (can get chilly in the room). You will be up and down off the floor, exercise balls and chairs - wear comfortable clothes - a skirts may not be the best choice. You will also have to take your shoes off while you are working on the mat.

Finally today, after weeks of no response, I emailed threatening filing with the Better Business Bureau and I got a terse email from someone in admin with no apology nor reason for the lack of response for the last month. This has been a shady hassle and I would recommend going elsewhere for prenatal classes due to the admin's inability to do their job alone.

If…read moreyou're in Long Beach and interested in a natural birth experience or simply want to feel informed and prepared for labor and childbirth, I highly recommend her. She empowers her clients with information and helps them feel confident making the best decisions for themselves. Her kindness and support extended beyond class hours. When I went into labor, she promptly responded to texts from my husband, answered his questions, and offered guidance and reassurance. She helped him better understand how to support me during labor, and that made all the difference in our experience. Birth is beautiful, wild, and unpredictable. Lia helped us feel confident in our birth plan while preparing us to navigate the process as it unfolded. We're so grateful for her knowledge, warmth, and support. Highly recommend!

I took Lia's childbirth class during my first pregnancy in 2023. I live in South Orange County, so…read morethe drive was a bit of a commitment, but it was absolutely worth it. Being in class with other expectant couples created such a supportive environment, and the course was incredibly comprehensive. It gave me the knowledge and confidence to navigate a hospital birth and make informed decisions about the many interventions that are commonly offered. At 38 weeks, my water broke unexpectedly while I was riding a stationary bike. I immediately reached out to Lia for guidance. Since I wasn't experiencing a fever or any signs of infection, she explained that I had options: I could either go to the hospital right away or stay home and wait for labor to begin naturally. She also educated me about the fact that the body continues producing amniotic fluid and that, in some cases, a small rupture in the membranes may even reseal. Knowing that going to the hospital before labor started would likely lead to an induction (which wasn't aligned with my goal of having an unmedicated birth) I chose to stay home and monitor myself. The night before my 39-week OB appointment, I was feeling anxious. I knew that if my provider confirmed my water had broken before labor had started, induction would almost certainly be recommended. I reached out to Lia again, and she suggested trying the Miles Circuit. I followed the stretches that evening, and to my surprise, I went into early labor around 1:00 a.m. Whether it was the Miles Circuit, my body simply being ready, or a combination of both, it gave me the confidence to keep trusting the process. In January 2024, I welcomed a healthy baby girl through the unmedicated birth I had hoped for. While my hospital experience was unfortunately traumatic, the education Lia provided made all the difference. There were many moments when my husband, my doula, and I had to advocate for my birth preferences, and it wasn't always met with respect. Without the knowledge and confidence I gained from Lia's class, I truly believe my birth could have unfolded very differently. I'm now pregnant with my second baby, and one of the first things I did was sign up to retake Lia's class. One of the biggest perks is that once you've taken her course, you can retake it as many times as you'd like for free. Childbirth education isn't something you only benefit from once, and I love having the opportunity to refresh everything I've learned before welcoming another baby. I'm incredibly grateful for everything Lia taught us. Her class empowered me to make informed decisions, advocate for myself, and approach birth with confidence. I wholeheartedly recommend her course to any expecting parents, especially those hoping for an evidence-based, physiologic birth. Even if you have to drive a little farther to attend like I did, it's worth every mile.

Even our anti-social cat loved being around her! She helped us to feel confident in our decisions and prepared for labor in a way no birth class could. During labor she helped me to stay focused and calmed me down when I thought I couldn't handle it anymore. I definitely underestimated how much reassurance and help I would need postpartum, but Keely's visit was much needed. Plus, she makes a mean vegetarian chili! She's is a wonderful speaker and extremely eloquent but her involvement and skill set unfortunately ends there. Keely abandoned me and my husband during an emergency c section. One I think would have been completely avoided with a more experienced, empathetic and advocacy minded doula. I have a long list of reasons I regret hiring Keely but all I think that really matters is that I'm certain my birth experience was made considerably worse as a direct result of her involvement. I highly recommend a doula, just not this one. Good luck mamas!!!

She made me feel safe and loved during a very vulnerable time. And that feeling never wavered, from fist meeting all the way through birth and after. I will always remember her bringing me some eggs and toast- just what I wanted. I was naked in bed, blissed out, eating my breakfast with my new baby beside me and she was just like an angel in the room. Rebecca is deeply kind and professional. She connected me with my midwife, and that single introduction changed the entire trajectory of my birth experience. I truly believe things unfolded the way they did in large part because of her. And then there are the photos. Rebecca captured moments during my labor and birth that I never could have seen with my own eyes. Those images are some (most) of the most treasured things I possess. I look at them and it bring me back to one of the greatest moments of my life and I will never forget it because of her. Rebecca didn't just support my birth -- she helped hold the whole experience for me, so I could be fully present in it. I will be grateful to her for the rest of my life. If you are looking for a doula who will care for you with this much heart, choose Rebecca. You would be so blessed to have her at your birth and receive her loving care.

I come from a family with two doctors as…read moreparents, so a lot of my understanding of pregnancy and birth had always been shaped through that lens. Looking back now, I honestly cannot imagine going through this experience without Rebecca. From the beginning, she brought this calm, grounding presence into a season of life that can feel so unknown and emotional. She answered countless questions, checked in often, and somehow always knew how to make me feel more steady when my mind was spinning. I never felt judged by her. I felt supported, heard, cared for, and genuinely safe. We originally planned for a home birth, but our plans changed and we ultimately ended up at the hospital. In a moment that could have felt scary and lonely, Rebecca helped make the experience feel held. I still remember looking around the hospital room thinking how different this all was from what I had imagined, and feeling so grateful that she was there beside me. Her presence felt like an anchor in the middle of a storm. Doula support is not just about birth itself. It starts long before labor and continues long after the baby arrives. Rebecca spent so much time preparing me emotionally and practically for what was ahead, and after birth she continued to show up in ways that mattered deeply to me. She helped with lactation, helped my baby latch, answered late-night questions, and reminded me that I did not have to figure everything out alone. In those blurry, emotional first days of motherhood, having someone there with experience, gentleness, and real compassion made all the difference. Rebecca supported me through the entire transformation into becoming a mother. That is what I will always value most. She is truly incredible. When the time comes for baby number two, there will not be a second thought about calling her again.
