The staff tried to sell me expensive cosmetic procedures while I had severe pain following a failed crown, instead of expressing any empathy regarding what I was actually experiencing. The dentist managing the procedure advised me to take something like Xanax before any future dental procedures, because I was an "anxious" patient. Having excruciating pain can make you anxious. Very bad experience with the front desk at the Rittenhouse location. I booked this place after a lot of research as I have a traumatic brain injury resulting in issues with my jaw/hearing etc and needed to ensure that the doctor has the right experience. I checked that the doc was covered by my insurance plan before booking and appt wait time was a month and a half. Day before my appt, I confirmed via text. The day of my appt, I got a call and confirmed I would be there again. Was asked to get there early to finish paper work. I got there 15 mins early and was rudely asked for my name- the person next to me was yelling and I couldnt be heard. I said as much and then was asked to finish the paperwork. After doing that I was told rudely that my insurance is not accepted and that the office had texted me. I checked my phone and had not received a text. I checked my insurance plan and showed the front desk again that the doctors name was listed. I was told rudely again with no apology that my insurance was not accepted and that my plan website must be wrong. No attempt was made to check again or apologize for the inconvenience. So now, I've: 1.Lost half a day of work 2. Cant use my annual check up before end of year cos its too late to get an appt with another dentist before the the end of the year 3. Front desk wasted my time by not checking my insurance prior to the appt (but a claim was made that i was texted- there was no text) 4. Front desk called me day of appt to confirm - couldve followed up on insurance then but they did not. 5. Made me finish my paperwork/registration - couldve followed up on insurance before I gave them my info but they did not. 6. And then reprimanded me for asking some basic questions about the insurance. 7. And then I had to hear the front desk women laugh amongst themselves about my appt. Even if my insurance covers this place, I wont be returning. read more

My treatment here was absolutely ridiculous. The receptionist, the front desk staff, and everyone who picked up the phone was rude, overly entitled, acted as though I was inconveniencing them by asking them to do their jobs. Trying to find their office is a nightmare, when I called to ask for help finding it, whomever picked up the phone spoke to me as though I was an idiot, and threatened to cancel my appointment if I didn't get there within 5 minutes. I finally got home and needed to see my dentist locally, I called asking for my records to be sent for my dental appointment today since they were closed on Thursday and Friday and was told that they just couldn't promise that it would get sent today. I write this review to express my forever gratitude and heart-felt thanks to the Rittenhouse Dental Staff, at the 711 W. Lancaster Ave., Bryn Mawr, location, and specifically to Dr. Shimmie Steven Pesis. After relocating to Pennsylvania, I found on July 24, 2024, I had a dental issue that needed immediate attention. I was seen on July 25 and explained to Dr. Pesis that I was dealing with a serious health issue that began in December 2023 and was under the care of a specialist. Dr. Pesis immediately understood my health issue and consequently there was a treatment challenge ahead. I was seen on a regular basis by Dr. Pesis, who worked with my specialist, and my dental issue was finally and thankfully completed/resolved on November 7, 2024. From day one, I was greeted warmly with a smile by the front office staff into a waiting room that is lovely and welcoming. On my second visit, I again was greeted with warmth and also by name. During each of these visits, I was comforted by Dr. Pesis' assistant, Cat, who in a soft voice explained each step of the procedure to follow and relaxed me with interesting conversation. I will forever be indebted to Dr. Pesis as he understood the science relating to my health issue, knew that we both had a challenging road ahead, provided painless treatment with confidence, and always reassured me that my dental issue was going to be resolved. Go somewhere else, they are scammers. I went in for routine cleaning and was told I would need a simple filling. I didn't question it and made an appointment to get a filling. When I came in, I was so rushed through the process and the dentist and assistant talked about me like I wasn't there. The dentist never introduced herself, sat down and told her assistant that she was so glad "I was the last patient for the day." They both started talking to each other about their plans for the weekend while working on the filling, again, like I wasn't even there. I felt like a car at the mechanic, not a patient at a dentist's office. The dentist even made a comment that one of my teeth had an "odd shape, almost like a dog tooth." I have always gone to the dentist 2x a year, and have never been told this. The whole interaction was so gross to me, I immediately found a new dentist. I haven't had a cavity since. Also, my coworker used to go there as well and was told she had 5+ cavities in one visit. She went to another dentist to get a second opinion and she had 0. Scammers. Note: the owner responded below calling me a name that is not mine and accusing me of never being a patient. I was a patient that has been to the office multiple times. The name that Shimma used is the name of a Yelper that sent compliments on two of my reviews, and it is clear it is an entirely different profile. It's really unfortunate that this dental practice is not trying to improve the patient experience and would rather accuse patients of lying instead of listening. One of my veneers popped out two nights ago and I was beside myself since I had to attend a big event this weekend. My regular dentist is in Florida. Not only did the receptionist get me an early morning appointment, but Dr. Pesis and his assistant did a wonderful job repairing my tooth. I highly recommend this practice. This is THE dentist - especially for those of you who never looked forward to check ups, cleanings and other dental procedures. I came to this office after going to the office down in center city and it certainly doesn't disappoint. I've recently had a cleaning and a few fillings done at this office. They do everything to make you comfortable - even as soon as you walk into the office. I was offered coffee, sparkling water or tea while I waited for my appointments. And during my procedures I was offered Netflix goggles and a paraffin hand dip! Of course I did both every time :) Dr. Shimma is so kind and took every step to ensure not only I was comfortable but understood every step of the filling process. I had a disappointing and highly uncomfortable experience here as a new patient, and thought to share some helpful things to know about Rittenhouse Dentists. Rittenhouse Dentists does not have the capacity to send their own patients' x-rays to their other locations. I learned this the hard way, by booking an earlier appointment at the Bryn Mawr location, hoping to schedule appointments thereafter for their Center City location. As a new patient, they required I have new x-rays taken. I made sure to clarify that those x-rays done at that location could be used for the CC location and they said no. I had asked for billing reasons in case they were going to charge me twice for images, and because I had assumed that more locations meant more flexibility with making appointments. For this reason, I left my appointment and did not proceed with any of their services. I also experienced one of the most uncomfortable customer service interactions I've ever had with Rittenhouse Dentists. They moved my confirmed appointment via text message from a 11:45am to 11:00am, indicating the following: "Hello, Your dental appt for May 10 will be altered slightly and will now be a 11am appt instead. This is due to new protocols in place." Because I was delayed due to a work meeting running longer than expected (about 15 min), and thinking that I had bought myself time by filling out all the paperwork online beforehand and was fully vaccinated, I had naively assumed that meant I could still be accommodated for my basic cleaning. As it turns out, their schedule indicated they had scheduled another patient for my original time and that my appointment was not moved due to COVID-19 protocol. They had moved my appointment to accommodate another patient. It was all very uncomfortable because the receptionist claimed they could still accommodate me, but once in the x-ray room, I was told they wouldn't do the basic cleaning due to limited time. It's clear to me that this practice doesn't value truthful communication with its patients, and it's hard to build trust from that. read more

I'm new to the Philadelphia area and I was asking for some recommendations and this group was recommended. However, they are so popular that the other sites were booked months in advance but this location had something sooner. And this location was absolutely amazing! It was easy to find and had plenty of parking. The office is beautiful and inviting and the staff is top notch. My whole visit from start to finish was amazing. From the X-rays through cleaning and consultations, everyone was very warm, easy to talk with, and thorough in their processes. The office is absolutely beautiful and you are immediately greeted and offered delicious coffee or tea. My dentist recently retired and referred me to Rittenhouse Dentists. My old dentis had put veneers in my mouth 6 months ago and one of them fell out and I saved it. When I called my old dentist office Rittenhouse Dentist answered the phone and I asked them if they would recement my Verneer back in place fo no charge ( my oldentist would have done that in a heartbeat). Receptions put me on hold for a while and came back and said yes, there would be no charge. When I walked into their new office smelling of vanilla with coffee service I was issued into one of their rooms and the young doctor drilled cement from the verneer and then sent in a tech to have me sign a aper and inform me that after my insurance paid something I only had to pay $49. I stated my case that it had already been cleared for free. She came back after a few minutes saying that the doctor had to be paid and made me feel like I was not honest when I said I had talked to office staff earlier. I left and I and my wife ( both patients with my former dentist for over 25 years will never return. If you like free coffee and the smell of vanilla candles then go to Rittenhouse Dentists. Definitely the best dentistry experience I've ever had. The office is very clean and pleasantly decorated. All staff is friendly and informative. My cleaning was quick and painless - the hygienist took several breaks throughout and make sure I was comfortable. I have another appointment scheduled with them for Icon, a treatment they have to even out any white or dark spots on your teeth. Even for something like this, Rittenhouse works with your insurance rather than charging hundreds for a "cosmetic procedure". 10/10! read more

I am not sure where to start as this was hands down (pun intended, keep reading) the best experience I could have anticipated at a dental office! It started with the lobby...so cute and homey with an Anthropologie candle burning and welcoming colors and modern decor. Then Kris (the dental assistant) swoops in and makes me feel super comfortable as it's my first time to the practice. And then came the pampering! I was offered a glass of wine...yes, at the dentist, before my routine cleaning! Of course I accepted. Icing on the Cabernet cake? A paraffin wax while I waited for my cleaning! Being an all women practice, it really shouldn't be shocking they have thought of such nice little details, but they did. And I am so thankful. The important stuff: Dr. Abdullah was very friendly and knowledgeable and also down to earth. She was open about pricing of suggested work because surprise bills are for the birds. I hadn't been to the dentist in 5 years and was nervous about my visit but everything about Rittenhouse Dentists put me at ease. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly, and they put a lot of effort into measures for a relaxing atmosphere such as candles, complimentary beverages, and warm washcloths to freshen up after the cleaning. My cleaning was extremely thorough and gentle and I left feeling like my teeth were visibly whiter. Although I unfortunately had to have my first cavity filled, it was quick and painless. TERRIBLE customer service. I gave all insurance information online prior to the appointment. I get to the appointment and they tell me they can't verify my insurance information they've had for days. I give them NO new information than what was provided online to them, and they wasted 30 minutes into my appointment trying to verify my insurance. Then they blamed me, the patient, saying they tried to call me when I had no voicemails from them. The representative they finally got in touch with on the phone said they were "out of network." I was still willing to cover 20% of my bill and get my services for the appointment I booked, and she essentially told me I shouldn't stay because of concern with "continuity of care" and that 30 minutes of my appointment was wasted for them verifying my insurance that they easily could've done before my arrival. She basically turned me away. I wasted my drive there and a day taken off from work. I felt so uncomfortable and embarrassed. I'm a busy student working full time and don't have the time to look up every detail of my insurance for them. I gave them multiple online forms with my information. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Dr.Shima and her peers are simply amazing! Words can't discribe how welcomed and appreciate I felt for joining their list of clientels. Like most people, I fear going to the dentist. Even for a simple cleaning. However, Dr.Shimas warm and friendly personality made me forget every bad experience I've ever encounter at any dentist. I went in for a rountine cleaning and fittings for the new zoom whitening kit. She answered every question with ease and made me feel very comfortable in my decisions. I was impressed on my first visit. Friendly atmosphere and great staff. I was offered water, or wine(red white) before I was seen. (Wine was my choice) Once in the chair Dr. Abdulla explained to me everything I would get done on my second visit. On my second visit (11/28/18) I had a great experience. I had my first appointment with Rittenhouse Dentists - Bryn Mawr today and I was beyond pleased with my entire experience. I have not been to the dentist in a long time so I was very nervous walking into this appointment. From the moment I stepped in the front door, I knew I made the right decision in picking Rittenhouse Dentists - Bryn Mawr. The receptionist was warm and friendly, the waiting room was clean and welcoming. I only waited a few short minutes before Jamie came out to take me back. She knew I was nervous and made sure to address any concerns that I had upfront. She explained exactly what was going to happen during the appointment and continued to explain to me what she was doing and continued to check to see how I was doing throughout the entire appointment. Jamie was a total pro - you could tell she loves her job and takes pride in what she does. She was extremely nice and friendly. The doctor came in to check me out after my cleaning - and unfortunately I forget her name! - but she was equally as nice and friendly - very down earth and easy to talk to.
