I am really surprised that the Rite Aid is getting much worse reviews than the VONS From Hell. Lines can be long but seem pretty quick. I avoid everything in the winter, and during the summer I haven't had a lot of issues with lines. It is true that the stock is not the best. I couldn't find anything for getting rid of mosquitoes in the house, just repellant for skin. Whenever I need milk or really basic things, I come here, because VONS is such a masochistic experience. read more

Worst experience at any Rite Aid branch or pharmacy store. We waited in line for 20 minutes, of the 5 employees "working" only one was checking out customers while another was scooping ice cream. One of the only pharmacies in Mammoth, I guess gives this pharmacy to give less than substandard care. I am a visitor from out of town and had a prescription called in for my husband who was suffering from bronchitis and altitude sickness. I called the pharmacist at 6:15pm to verify that it was ready since I had to pay for a cab to pick up the medicine. She asked me to wait at least 20 minutes. The hours on the website state hours are until 10pm. When I arrived by taxi at 8pm (the soonest I could get a cab), I found that the pharmacy closed at 7pm. That might have been important info for the pharmacist to tell me. I had communicated that I was out of town and arriving by taxi. The worst of it all was when I arrived the next morning and expressed my frustration, she didn't even appear to care. She wouldn't process my insurance and told me to call my insurance company if I had an issue. I am a registered nurse and am sorry to say that this pharmacist was unprofessional and rude. Thank goodness I've been to other Rite Aid stores and not been treated like this. I have learned that the Vons in Mammoth fills prescriptions. Do yourself a favor and go there instead read more

I've came to this Rite Aid a few times before including September of 2016. Throughout the years I came here my dad bought a foam cooler that my cousin now has, Kleenex, butt wipers (oh yeah) and Coke Zero. They sell a lot of variety of stuff. It is like a mini walmart without the electronics and some clothes. This place also has a GNC which is pretty cool. Get your supplements here including protein powder, pre-workout and etc. read more

So the lines are always long on the weekends and holidays. It doesn't matter if its 90 degrees out or a negative 10 degrees outside. This place is hoppin... But as the only major alternative to Vons and the craziness that surrounds Mammoth's only true supermarket, this place fills a valuable alternative. They have a number of things that you will find at every other Rite Aid but groceries as well. I think that the most popular thing that they have is thrifty ice cream. They have some frozen and a lot of prepackaged food. Things like canned goods (soups, fruits, etc), pasta's, tomato sauces, soft drinks, juices, prepackaged meats/cheeses, beer, and alcohol. This is in addition to camping supplies, shovels, windshield scrapers, clothes, toys, etc. The items are never ending. Ohhh yeah need a birthday card? They got that here too! So the smart shopper utilizes this place when needed and tries to avoid it on the weekends, especially the holiday weekends The parking lot is large and well maintained during the winter months. The snow isn't allowed to drift and build too high... So stop in if you need something and/or want an alternative to the supermarket, if they aren't sold out of whatever you were hoping to find. Pharmacy service is absolutely unacceptable. After waiting for 40 minutes when the pharmacist was taking at least 10 minutes to help everyone in front of me, I walk up to the counter and he says that he doesn't have my prescription that my doctor call this morning about because he has a bunch of voicemails that he hasn't checked and refuses to do so until tomorrow. Barely stocked shelves. Given it was a holiday weekend, but they appeared to also be in the midst of rearranging items without changing the aisle headings. The chips were not in the books aisle!! Also, they ran out of fire starters and particular food items. There were enough people working the floor, but only two cashiers open every time we went - which made for veryyy long lines. I take everything in Mammoth, and small towns in general, with a grain of salt. This Rite Aid, however, has an inexcusably bad selection even with this consideration -- and I don't even have to mention the prices. I mainly went here for photo processing, as everything else can be purchased cheaper online or at Vons. The processing is alright. I was impressed that they do film, but their scanner (not sure whether to fault the machine or its operator) wasn't the greatest. My negatives consistently ended up split onto different image files on the CD, and the color cast was horrible. Somehow each frame had a different hue to it, so trying to stitch two halves of a picture together in photoshop was pretty much impossible. For Mammoth, this is okay, but I'd probably send my negatives out if it was a roll I really cared about. read more

I went here to buy a few things the other day that I forgot on my trip. Unlike Jenn's review, the shelves looked fairly well stocked on all aisles. There were a handful of items I couldn't find. You can't expect to find everything in a Rite Aid this far away from the rest of civilization. To end my experience, I ordered an ice cream cone. I am quite pleased with the variety this Rite Aid carries. Not only can you find your general drugstore products, but they also had a decent selection of winter clothing - hats, gloves, ski pants ($40), jackets, etc. I even found a belt that I needed for $6! Alas, prices are higher here than your neighborhood Rite Aid, but there's not many options at Mammoth and I'm just glad to find what I needed. -1* for the high prices though. read more

Rite Aid - Convenience Stores Near Me - Mammoth Lakes, California

Been in here at least a dozen times, the shelves are always half empty or totally empty. How awkward is it to go into a store and see a full isle empty. How hard is it to get the inventory correct when this is a constant battle to keep shelves stocked. If one week you order and it's all gone in half a week, double the order. You're in the game to make a profit and when you can't keep up with demand you're only stunting your company from growing. Also 80% of the employees do not greet you or even ask if you need any help. Then you have the employees that rather than do thier jobs have small talk with customers/friends when you have another 30 people waiting in line. They need to get thier priorities straight. The icing on the cake is when I asked an employee if he could help me get a battery because the shelves were empty once again. He responded with "They're in the back but I'm way to busy to get them, come back tomorrow and they should be restocked." Keep in mind that there are 3 other employees and only one other customer in line. Instead of saying something like, "I do apologize, let me help this customer then I'll be right with you or let me get an associate that can help you get the battery." There are ways to talk to a customer to make them feel like you care for them or want to help them to make them become a repeat customer. And the way this employee handled the situation made me feel like he told me to leave and comeback some other time. Management needs to get a reality check and get the staff back on point, if he/she cannot maximize the potential each employee has to give. They need to do some heavy retraining or get replaced. read more

The place has been remodeled since a year ago with an odd layout--long, horizontal rows to the left and diagonal ones to the right where the pharmacy is but the shelves were well-stocked. If you do have one of those "Wellness Cards (and they didn't ask for a ton of private info, just a phone number)," it does help take the sting off some of the high prices, especially if you're just in there to pick up a bottle of Ibuprofen or whatever. This review is for the Pharmacy. On December 23 at 7:30 am I called in my prescription, and was told it would be ready at 10:45 am. I took a lunch break at 2pm from work and headed over to the pharmacy. When I got to the counter I gave my name and date of birth and the young girl working told me it's not ready. I said oh I was told it would be ready at 10:45. The girl was not sympathetic, she was actually extremely rude so I asked her name which is Daisy. Daisy said they are behind and that it wouldn't be ready until 2pm. I stated that I was on my lunch break and wouldn't be able to make it back today because of work and if I could get it sooner, nope we are really behind!!!! I came back at 6:55 and they were closed, they close at 7pm. The next day December 24th I come back to the pharmacy at 3pm. Daisy is at the counter again and I give her my date of birth and name. Daisy doesn't enter anything inti the computer, says it will be a few minutes and wakhs away. After standing there for 10 minutes with no help and no sign of Daisy I damn near climb over the counter to see another tech and ask what the hell us going on???? I asked her where Daisy went and where is my prescription??? This lady immediately apologized and takes my info and puts it into the computer. After my info pops up in the computer she says I'm sorry your prescription is on back order and we wont have it for possibly 2 months!!!! So with that ring said I've now wasted 3 trips to this pharmacy girl absolutely no reason. I received terrible costumer service from Daisy. Daisy should not be working behind the counter. Daisy was very rude and I will never go back to this pharmacy again because of her!!!! read more

I received a coupon from Rite Aid last Wednesday at checkout for 30% off my entire purchase on Saturday for being a loyal customer. So I shopped on Saturday and thought my 30% discount would happen when I entered my loyalty phone number, it did not. So I took in my receipt with the 30% coupon today to get a credit and Manager told me that coupon had expired. I done shopping at Rite Aid. Why have a loyalty program if you can't connect discounts to it. read more

Worst Rite Aid in America! Not even worthy of one star. This place should be ashamed of themselves. I am shocked that the corporate office has not been contacted and visited this location. What a disgrace!!! The shelves were almost empty throughout the store because there was no staff working. God forbid anyone work the day before a holiday. I was able to get toothpaste so that was a plus. The pharmacy here is a DISASTER!! STAY AWAY FAR AWAY!! I had to have a prescription called in here. I called a couple hours later to see if it was ready yet. The lady asked for my info and insurance info. She then said it would be ready in an hour. Went back 3 hours later to find the pharmacist standing around doing NOTHING but looking at the clock and one lady working behind the counter. There was a man in front of me and we waited in line for 30 minutes while she answered the phone and made phone calls. I complained to her that she should be helping the customers that have been standing in line for 30 minutes. She just said that she was worried about her lunch break and she needed to help people on the phone. Needless to say I got very irate and went back to the line. She finally came over and got nasty with the man in front of me. When it was my turn she rang up my prescription and I asked her if she had used my insurance. She screamed at me that I had not given her my insurance information. WHAT?? I reminded her in my loud voice that I had already done this on the phone with her this morning. This took an extra 10 minutes to get it fixed and get an override from the manager. I would have been better off driving to Bishop and going to Dwayne's Pharmacy to get my prescription. I highly suggest that everyone go to Bishop for prescriptions and better service. Yes, it is a little drive but it is much better than standing in Rite Aid listening to employees complain about their jobs and lunch breaks. They should be happy to have a job in a small town or anywhere for that matter. There are plenty of people that would love that job and appreciate it. This place isn't just a Rite Aid, it's a little K-Mart. You can find all your typical Rite Aid wares, plus seasonal apparel (sandals, snorkeling gear, snowshoes, etc). For various reasons, I ended up coming to this Rite Aid almost every day on my last vacation to Mammoth and at this point I feel like I know this place almost as well as any other in Mammoth. More like Wrong Aid if you ask me. My co-worker busted her tibia at Mammoth earlier in the day and got a prescription from the hospital so we went to go pick it up from this pharmacy. It took OVER AN HOUR to get to the pharmacy window with only 5 or 6 people ahead of us! The asshole at the window was giving attitude to the customers and didn't seem to be on top of things. I'd estimate another 6 customers or so had piled up behind us. 12 people in line at a pharmacy with only one person working the counter and doing a shitty job at that. A manager tried to come and speed things up and this is how things went for about 4 or 5 people before we left: Manager: Hi, what's your name? Customer: (insert name here) Manager: What prescription? Customer: (insert prescription here) Manager: I can't seem to find it. Hey (insert asshole pharmacist here), do you have any idea about this prescription? Asshole Pharmacist: It's not ready. Angry Customer: We filled it out (insert large number here) days ago!! Dumbfounded Manager and Asshole Pharmacist: blank stare The fact that this guy has a job makes me think I should've gone to pharmacy school. That way I could live in Mammoth and never worry about being unemployed. On top of all of this BS, they didn't have any ice. Thankfully I could go to Subway nearby, ask for an empty plasic bag, and fill it with ice to give my fallen co-worker, who had to sit in the car all that time. read more

This Rite Aid is by far the worst I have ever been in. It's yet another store in Mammoth that seems to enjoy raking in the profits AND screwing you at the same time. The mentality basically being "Where ELSE are you going to go?" I have to leave at least 50% of the time I go in there simply because of the line. I've lived here 7 years now and almost never have I seen more than 2 cashiers. The line today was down the entire first aisle... two cashiers. I dropped my items at the nearest location and left the store... again. Just a couple of days ago I went in with a friend to pick up a money order for her. We were standing at the customer service counter for at least 10 minutes while the two cashiers rang up their never ending line of customers. Eventually I asked one of them between transactions to call for someone to help us with a money order. Politely, mind you. She nodded okay, then continued to ring up customers. NEVER CALLING FOR ASSISTANCE FOR US. So finally a stocker walks by and we ask him. He doesn't know how, so he goes to ask his manager. WHO IS IN THE OFFICE WITH A WINDOW THAT LOOKS RIGHT AT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DESK... So at this point my friend is on the phone with the local Vons asking if they can help us. Seeing as how we now have stood here, asked for help, been ignored AND the manager was able to see us the entire 15-30 minutes we've been standing there and REFUSED to come out, we left for Vons. read more

Went for the 'Thrifty Ice Cream' about 9:20 on Saturday night. Business was slow, all the lights around the ice cream were on and all the ice cream buckets were still open. When one of the two cashiers who was talking to someone yells, Ice cream is closed! So we then approached the other cashier just standing there and asked when it closed. He says, "9:30 then looks at the time and says oh um 9:00, um well it depends. We are short staffed." (while a third person was rolling up rugs near the front door.) Customer Service is terrible. I recently moved into the area from Los Angeles, so one of the first orders of business was getting my prescription transferred. Simple enough, right? Wrong. Two weeks before I moved, I made a call to request them to stock my prescription, as I've had bad reactions to the generic form most pharms carry. the woman over the phone said they would order it in. I gave her my info to sign up an account with them and that was that. Now fast forward to actually being in Mammoth. I stopped in only to have them tell me that I'm not in the system at all. Well that's odd. But I fill out another form and was told it would be ready for pick up in a couple days. So today I ran by, running late for class, to pick up my prescription. Bag was sealed and instead of checking like I should have, I went to class and opened it up a couple hours later. Wrong prescription. I immediately call and am faced with a very rude women who accusingly said "Well why didn't you open it before? We can't do anything now that you've left." Completely unacceptable. Not only was her attitude off putting , but she offered no insight on how to fix their mistake. I asked her (and specified about my earlier request to stock my pills) if she could call and order the medication. Again I'm met with an empty reply. "It's not in stock. We can't oder it now. Wait two weeks and we'll call and check." Keep in mind my prescription is a day to day medication. Timing is really everything. Luckily, I keep an extra pack in case of disasters such as this one. If I didn't, you better believe I would have caused a scene. To make matters worse, she had the audacity to tell me the meds I received were "the same exact thing" when the doses are clearly different AND printed on the front. So not only are the staff unintelligible, but they are unhelpful, rude and could care less about your experience here. Do yourself a favor and just leave. read more
