We were driving through on our way to California and got a check engine light. We arrived at Rite-A-Way Auto Service. The husband and wife could not have been more efficient, professional, helpful and honest. They stopped what they were doing and determined that we could either order a part and wait until the next day, or we would be safe to continue driving. That's where the honesty comes in. They cared about us and our situation, which was we were trying to get out to California without coming into contact with people or things or places, so we would not be exposed to the Virus. They could simply have said we needed to order the part and we would have been forced to stay in a hotel, etc. all things we did not want to be exposed to. You will be in really good hands with these people. We did have other companies blow us off and one that even tried to blow us off AND tell us not to go to the one person who could help us. These people are awesome! My husband, myself and our puppy are NOT from Texas! We were traveling home (florida) with our RV in tow when all of a sudden our trailer brakes locked up, stranded at a rest area, unable to drive, my husband tried to fix the problem himself for several hours which did not work, until I found these guys and we gave them a call. Traveling across Texas w/Dogs, I broke down 15 miles West of Junction. My roadside assistance insurance advised I would have to wait 1 1/2 hrs for a tow truck. Raymond already said he could fix my truck, so I called him back to let him now how long the tow would take. He told me he'd come tow me in. I cancelled the tow truck, Raymond and another mechanic showed up quickly, hooked a strap to my truck, and the pair towed my truck into their shop. Knowing that I was traveling, he got to work immediately and I was back on the road in a couple of hours. His rates were more than reasonable. On Jan. 15th, my best friend and I were 3 days into making a cross country trip from Florida to California. We were in San Antonio when my car, randomly, wouldn't turn on after stopping. After calling AAA and getting my battery changed, my car wouldn't start again after stopping a couple of hours outside of San Antonio. We got the car started and decided to stop at the Napa Auto Parts down the road from Rite A Way to get an opinion on what the exact problem was. I ended up having to get a new starter. The part wasn't available for pick up until the following morning. Raymond from Rite A Way was kind enough to tow my car to the Rite A Way and give my friend and I a lift. He was super friendly and had my car finished first thing the next morning. I received all around wonderful service from him and the other employees as well. Grateful.......Were driving through junction and developed car trouble. Yelp helped us find this place and we were very fortunate we did. Took a while to figure it out. Who would have thought a valve spring on a cilendar would cause such a huge miss. Had to drive to kerville for the $4 part but they got it up and running. Checked out other things to make sure we were good to go. Added transmission fluid and off we went. So glad we found them and got back on the road. read more

Be very leery of this business, especially if you are from out of town. My car over heated on I-10 and we made our way to Rite-A-Way. The told me my heads were warped just by looking at my car. Tore my engine down, took the heads a town away, put my engine back together and it still over heated. We go through it again, they tear it down again, 8 days later they still have my car and it is still over heating so they tell me I need a new engine for $3,500.00. I tell them no and have it towed to Phoenix, AZ. Mechanic here tells me they put the thermostat in wrong. Cost $250.00. And did I forget to mention the 600.00 tow and $4,000.00 in hotel bills and food and plane tickets for my parents to Ocala and me to AZ. I trusted these people and they tried to take me for a ride. This was supposed to be a trip across country for my parents to the Grand Canyon. I understand things happen but this was ridiculous! read more

Travelers on Interstate Highway 10, Beware ! I pulled into this nondescript looking auto shop on 11/30/2015 needing a new battery. A man on duty checked the battery and confirmed it would not hold a charge, which I already know since it was necessary to jump start the car earlier that morning, in Austin. They did not have the right battery for my Ford Freestyle, so the owner went to pick one up for me nearby, at NAPA auto parts, a 2 year model. After installing this, I was presented with a bill for $208, of which $139 was for the battery, and a $69 fee was for "testing" and installation. Immediately, I felt that I was being overcharged, but I decided to wait until I could check with my mechanic when I got back home. My mechanic is a Chevron station, and they said they would NOT charge a labor fee, only the battery price. For thoroughness, I also checked with a Goodyear auto center, and Leif Johnson Ford dealership, both of which said they would NOT charge an additional labor fee just to sell and install a battery. I then complained to the business owner, Mr. Newton that I felt he had overcharged me on that previous occasion, and he said that it had been necessary to check the car's starter, alternator, ie, make sure there was not another problem in the car's electrical system. The trouble with this explanation is that he was NOT THERE when his employee checked the battery, and I was there and observing closely. No such additional precautionary testing was done, nor would I have permitted it, since I already knew what I had was a dead 4 year old battery. I offered to negotiate the $69 overcharge down to $50, just to get this matter behind me and be able to move on. Mr Newton stated he would be willing to give me $39 but no more. When I held firm at $50, he told me to go ahead and file my complaints with the Kimble County Chamber of Commerce, the Better Business Bureau, and YELP, but he would not reimburse me for the overcharge, even after the executive director of the C of C called him to discuss my complaint. Unless you don't care about the possibility of being overcharged, as I was, I would recommend that you GO ELSEWHERE to get your car problem serviced. read more
