My Public Defender said 10yrs or trial, I choose trial and bonded out.  Posting bond disqualifies defendants for a public defender, therefore I was forced to pro se. I filed a couple motions,resulting in more felony charges and bond revocation.  This is when the boss retained Mr.Christie. I also continued to consult with other attorneys regarding my charges despite it being frowned upon.  Mr. Christie remained calm, reserved, and consistent in his approach with me as well as his approach to the D.A. and Judge.  6 out of 7 lawyers told me there was no way I was not going to D.O.C..  The one who said he sees an angle for probation was Mr. Christie and he was astonishingly accurate!  I spoke with Judges that practice part-time criminal defense in Lafayette also with lawyers practicing there for 30+ years.  These guys wanted double the amount I paid Mr. Christie and they each said I would still go to D.O.C. for some time.  This last Mr. Christie just kept repeating that I needed to trust him, but I didn't. I  doubted him and even lashed out  at one point.  He never lied, he never promised me anything, he never made me feel judged, and he paid attention to my well being.  If you are reading this you are thinking about retaining him and I want to encourage you to do it now, you will not find a better option specifically anywhere in Lafayette County.

Beyond that, I struggle to point to what I paid for. My expectation wasn't just to plead to a lesser charge--that's the basic job of a criminal defense attorney. I expected communication, advocacy, and the feeling that someone was actually fighting for me. Instead he is quite condescding when he even is at fault. Instead, communication was poor. At one point, Brandon referred my mom--who was simply a witness--to another attorney at the another firm. In my opinion, there was no reason my own attorney couldn't have handled that instead of sending me to a colleague and generating another legal bill. It felt completely unnecessary. He will tell you otherwise, but it had no bearing in my case. Things got worse when Brandon went on vacation without telling me. I couldn't get ahold of him, no one showed up when I expected representation in court, and I was left scrambling. I was so frustrated that I took it out on his secretary, and she didn't deserve that. My frustration was with the lack of communication, not with her. When I finally spoke to Brandon, his response was essentially that I had "messed up" and that I was free to find another attorney. That's easy to say after you've already collected thousands of dollars. There was never any discussion of refunding fees or taking responsibility for how the situation was handled. The part that really left a bad taste in my mouth came after everything was over. Suddenly, communication wasn't a problem anymore. I received an email asking me to leave him a positive review, complete with a convenient link. I wish half that effort had gone into communicating with me while I was actually a client. I can't speak for the rest of Roth Davies or its attorneys. This review is only about my experience with Brandon Roth. He obtained a plea agreement, and I'll acknowledge that. But for the amount I paid, the communication, unnecessary referral, and overall client experience fell far short of what I expected. I would not hire him again. I wouldn't even trust him as part of my kid's little league or basketball team, morals left a long ago. Caveat: read my reviews, I don't rate this low and I usufally refrain from posting a 1 or star.

I was married to a narcissist and scared about him being alone with my child from prior issues. I met with Ken and indicated my husband kidnapped my child a whole day and I didn't know where he was and he was manic. I was a mess. I couldn't hardly talk. Ken gave me his word he would do all he could to get me sole legal and physical custody of my child, as well as some of the money back from my husband's financial abuse; and my last name back (a beautiful thing!) Ken is super busy but will make time for you. He is well respected in the courtroom and it shows. I'm no longer physically ill wondering if my child's father will have the opportunity to be alone with him. Or having nightmares of him legally kidnapping my son not knowing where he is. Now, thanks to Ken, that can never ever legally happen again. When you're fighting for custody you want a lion that's chasing after his prey for your child. That's Ken. I will use Ken again for any attorney need. I was completely naive to this whole process as I never planned to get a divorce or have to fight for custody. He was good about explaining the process to me when I asked and not belittle me. He also was moral support telling me a couple times that "this guy is a real piece of work, huh?)
