During our day trip to the area, we found this spot for lunch and we were not disappointed. The outside seating are was large and there was plenty of visibility for people watching. We selected a salad and the Hawaiian pizza, both were delicious. The beer was cold and we requested some ice and lemon slices for our water. The service was quick and the restrooms inside were clean. Busy! Great if you're looking for action and not so great if it's super hot out and everyone is packing into Tango's patio leaving little room for the breeze to roll through the tables. It had been years since my last visit to Tango but during this round we snagged pasta al carbonara, Pizza margherita, chestnut liquor and an aperol spritz. The pasta al carbonara was sinfully delicious and the full sized pizza was generously sized. The staff has a difficult time keeping up given how busy they are and how tricky it can be to physically navigate all of the tables. Tango is located on the busiest square in downtown Lugano alongside several other restaurants. This is the heart of the city and where you'll often find concerts, festivals, the Christkindlmarkt and such. The flowers pour over the window boxes and you can catch a glimpse of Lago di Lugano a block away. If arriving from the train station, it's a ten minute walk down the hill. read more

Sadly I have to agree with my fellow reviewers. Very lack luster items, pricey, but with a great location. I ordered a daily special which comes with a small salad (no dressing). The salad has raw slices of fennel and corn which I didn't enjoy. The main was porcini mushrooms, sliced meat, and French fries, surrounded by ground, dried black olives. It was bland, the meat was chewy, and French fries were oddly bright yellow and undersalted. Would not return. read more

They were busy, totes busy. So busy that they simply waved back at us when we wanted to inform them that we got the wrong pizza. But I had no problem, I totally forgot what pizza we ordered because the wrong one was full of meat, artichokes, olives, mushrooms, and all sorts of fancy schmancy things. I feel sorry for the poor guy who was wanting that pizza. All the pizzas were delish. The service was meh, but they were also packed. read more

We had a very nice lunch here a few weeks ago. My son started with the carbonara (as young teenage men often do...) and then we each had a pizza (marinara for him, diavola for me). I loved the extra pot of peppers brought to the plate which let me customize the level of heat. Everything tasted good, service was excellent and on a hot summer day the Aperol spritzes cooled us down. read more

Located at the heart of the old town in Lugano, this place attracts a lot of tourists. if you are looking for something quick and mediocre, this would be the place. we ordered: pizza, soup, salad and clams spaghetti, quality was pretty low and the price was tourist-price. would recommend eating elsewhere if you have the time. read more

I have visited is place twice... 1st time, 3 years ago and again yesterday. The location couldnt be better. The restaurant serves food almost non stop while other restaurants are closed. The quality of the food is ok. The prices are very high with a normal pizza at around 25chf/30usd. The service is good and the waiters are friendly. read more

Usually I am very skeptical of restaurants in main plazas as being too touristy, but Tango was wonderful. Dessert--molten lava cake, delicious. The saffron risotto was also very tasty. We returned the next night! Affordable, good food, great location. read more

This place has the corner on location, but in my extensive European travel experience, I've found that most main square cafe/restaurants can manage at least a semblance of quality and service. This place did not. Of course, everything is Swiss priced, and then a bit higher due to the location. I wouldn't even mention that if the food and service lived up to expectations, but neither did. First, they failed to bring my partner's meal entirely. I think they thought we were splitting one main (pizza), but it took two inquiries for them to figure out they'd gotten it wrong. There didn't seem to be any rush to get the other dish out, even as the first was getting quite cold. And there was no apology for this. Second, my pizza was not made right, missing an ingredient. I mentioned this to one of our waiters (yes, three different ones served us, which may explain the confusion), and he was apologetic but also just blamed it on the kitchen with a "what can I do" shrug. Well, mistakes happen. But the food itself was extremely mediocre. My pizza was under-sauced and what sauce there was was really weak. My wife's pasta could have come out of a kit. Both the wife's and kid's dishes, which had promised vegetables, had so few (again, even by Swiss standards) that you wonder if lawyers were involved to see how little could be used while still upholding the letter of the menu. Despite my missing ingredient, I was charged the full amount. At this point I wasn't interested in haggling over a CHF or two and decided not to bother. (Of course there was nothing reduced in our overall price either despite the screw-ups, though that's not surprising in Europe in general and Switzerland in particular. Here I'm referring very specifically to leaving out part of the order.) All this I could have forgiven with a "weak food, bad day, what can you do" review, except the waiter who processed our payment very evidently fished for a tip. That was absolutely galling, and suggested a degree of shamelessness that deserves penalty, not reward. For what it's worth, we had a far better experience at Pizzeria Argentino [https://www.yelp.com/biz/pizzeria-argentino-lugano-2] next door, which gives you the same main square dining experience for comparable prices and far better food and service. read more

We came for the pasta and was happy we did. The outdoor patio is perfect in summer with a peek-a-boo view of the lake. I recommend the pesto gnocchi and Alex as a waiter. read more

The salmon appetizer was delicious and the portions were very large. Then had some pasta, ossobucco with risotto and a green sauce filet. All the food dishes were great and we had an excellent bottle of wine priced under 40 Euros. read more
