    Benny’s Bar - Drink Accompaniments

We had a lot of spritzes of various kinds throughout our visit in Italy. The experience of having…read moreone at Benny's, which happened to be our first Apérol Spritz on this trip, was our favorite. We needed a place to hang out before a nearby dinner reservation and happened by Benny's wide open space with plenty of seating outside the restaurant and decided to give it a try. We loved our Apérol Spritzes (especially the barber pole straws). I guess since it was our first, naturally we compared this experience to the subsequent ones we had...but this one really was good...well mixed, generously sized and really good. Most sprites come with some kind of accompaniments during apéritivo hour, and again, Benny's topped them all with presentation and what was offered...olives...those famous little round "spritz cracker cookies" (that can't possibly be what they're really called...) peanuts and chips. We had to be careful not to fill up before dinner! They have other creative looking drinks that we'd love to try sometime if we're ever back in Modena. This was a perfect spot, right in the middle of the historic center of town to enjoy a spritz and aperitivo hour.

This one looked like the most Casual. 7 or 8 tables outside covered by an umbrella--looks like a coz neighborhood place. Very friendly service and reasonable prices. I had a flatbread pizza with prosciutto, mozzarella and rivals. I thought I was ordering a salad--but oh well. It was very good. I also had an aperol spritz and a bottle of water and the total was 20 Euros. I would def go back!

Thankfully the girl behind the counter could speak English. We ordered a pizza and a couple paninis. I got the prosciutto Misti wrapped in a bread like a tortilla. I was surprised to find it had mayonnaise on it. It was alright. Not the Italian experience I was looking for. The pizza had a very light crust. Not crispy or chewy. The aperol spritz was on point. The rest was ok. Very nice and accommodating staff.

We passed by Bar Molinari twice before settling for it. The outside seating was packed with locals. Inside was just as busy, but there were only a few seats. We quickly ordered at the counter - 2 nutella croissants, 1 cappuccino and 1 espresso. The price came out to be about 8 euros. There didn't seem to be a menu we could look thru so we just pointed to the pastries we saw on display. We sat ourselves down and was approached by a waitress but told her we had already placed our own order. The nutella croissants arrived and we dug in. Each bite was filled with generous filling of nutella. It's like a third of a bottle had been used per croissant. We washed them down with our drinks and got going.
